To be such a little member of our body, the tongue has the ability to build up or to tear down. We all have witness or personally experienced the destructive of the tongue. Or maybe we have used it to do what we hate the most. Paul is going to speak to us about the proper use of the tongue. The Word of God tells us the tongue only says what the heart thinks. So the key to controlling our tongue is to have a God saturated heart. For out of the heart comes the words of life.
In the Book of James, the tongue is compared to a bridle and a rudder, a fire and a poisonous animal,, and a fruitful tree and a fountain (chp3). These three pairs of pictures teach us that the tongue has the power to DIRECT, the power to DESTROY, and the power to DELIGHT.
