Have to back up a few of the other replies I've seen on here and likewise mention City Market in Luling. Been my family's go to for BBQ going on 3 generations now. Nothing better than grabbing something to go before heading back to the farm to eat under the same old oak tree that my parents and grandparents used to enjoy their BBQ under. Also the perfect midnight snack to pack away if you're out late hog hunting.

All the locals I know say pats and Genoa ore just tourist traps. Eaten at both. Both overpriced and not even close to any dive in Philly. Tons of great mom and pop joints there

Solid list. I’ve been to 7 of the 10. Other great ones I’ve been to are Goldee’s, Burnt Been, Pinkerton’s, Blacks, Smitty’s, and Leroy & Lewis. Personally, and all of this is just personal opinion, I wasn’t impressed that much with Kreuz, Truth, Luling City Mkt, or Cooper’s, which some people rave about.

I agree with this list. However, you forgot Fort Worth. Heim, Goldies, Daynes Craft and Panther City all in Fort Worth belong on this list.

As a Texan, there is no doubt the best barbecue is found in the neighborhoods of Texas. The places you have mentioned are okay for tourist and transplants from California. But they don't compare to a home cooked Texas barbecue, where it is fresh off the grill.
