Aaron, Thanks I didnt kmiw I had a rear belt probkem till I watched this. Im trying to put a mower deck belt on a MTD # 13AU694H401 model. Do I have to take the deck off? Do I have to remove shared rear pully as well?😆
quick question, I have a left over part that dropped out of nowhere....it's a white plastic or nylon bushing less than an inch in length and about a half inch in diameter, it has a flange on one end... i think it dropped out of the space where i removed the 9/16 nut and washers to drop the pulley assy so i could install the new belt....which was very helpful and thanks for this video:) I got the belt in and reassembled, started the mower put it in gear and nothing happened...the front drive belt is intact but its not spinning the pulley...any suggestions anyone?
Thank you this is my exact model. and only after I went through more work than I needed. once together though that free tensioner pulley or something is not keeping the belt tight enough to engage it to drive.
Yes finally found my model on UA-cam. You don't even have to remove the main drive pulley just the belt guard bolts (2 either side of chassis )...so easy

This looks the same as mine ...the belt you require is MTD 954-0281-Trans belt MTD 954-0281-Drive belt MTD 954-0329A -Deck belt I've just replaced all mine today and had the same problems looking up and finding different models till now
At this video variator belt seems to go wrong way, as one guy earlier told. I have model: 13AA478F678 and the parts catalog offers too long belt, L=112mm long, my model is working with L=1040mm belt, and also the beltpattern is correct, you can check pattern it from mtd's website.
Your recording skills need to be improved. Wanted to check on the belt diagram but your recording skills don't allow it.

IThink that belt should go around that tension pulley ?? From right to left side ann then around main pulley?

I have a Western Auto wizard which is the same as your mower. Different battery box though. Are you sure you put the belt on the right way?

The best thing also is that you don't have to remove the main drive pulley just undo the 4 bolts that hold the guard on that surrounds the belts

I have a 1993, 12.5/42in and the idler set up is different than yours.
