People say weapons like the classic are "terrible", but they just need to adjust thier playstyle, all the weapons are usefull, even the pyros fire axe, you just need the right playstyle
All weapons are good, in certain ways or playstyles as you say. Classic can be good if you understand maps well and have good pre-aim. Other weapons just take practice and learning
