I add a couple of thing... Tyler is definitely more developed, for two reasons. Historically, Tyler has been a wore white collar city, and Longview has been more of a blue collar city. I ironically, about 5 or so years ago Longview surpassed Tyler in average personal average income. A bigger reason for more development is the local governments. I have a friend that does new and remodel building for Bloomin' Brands (Outback Steak, etc.), 7-Eleven, Brinker International (Chili's, etc.), amongst others. He refuses to work in Longview. He said it is easier to work in California, NYC, Boston, or Chicago than to deal with the permitting system in Longview. The general contractor that he works for, said it cost them more to work in Longview than almost anywhere else in the country, because all of the subs won't work there without more pay because the city is horrible to work with. Another note, Longview actually has 4 high schools: Longview, Pine Tree, Spring Hill, and Hallsville. Longview High, the largest of the 4, is smaller than both Tyler high schools.

This was VERY informative. Thank you for taking the time to make this. Usually, when I watch these types of videos about areas, the content creator irritates me by overdoing it with tryna be witty/comical. They try to make the video about THEM! Instead of giving the friggin' info that I clicked for in the 1st place. Or they go into a diatribe that has very little to do with providing relevant info regarding the area. In this video you manage to offer up your opinions w/out trying to become the 'star' of the video. Also, having various residents give their two cents was a great touch.

A water bill that drops to $66 out of season? Definitely must live outside the city limits and not have to deal with Tyler Water Utilities. TWU is egregiously overpriced for the poor quality water provided. Don't forget property taxes here, especially in the city limits, are pretty painful too.

As a con, don't forget paying through the nose for extremely low quality water. Tyler water bills are egregiously high for what you actually get.

Lived there for 40 years, the traffic is bad because everything is built around South Broadway Blvd. no freeways. Public schools are not the best, white flight to suburban schools and there are 5 private high schools and one charter high school. Katrina brought in a lot of folks that stayed and that wasn’t a good affect for the most part. That speaks volumes without further comment.
