Often HR does not allow to take it when people need it so can two play at that game.
I carried a week of leave and a week of accrued time off over every year for 30 years, just in case I had an emergency. This is not a disaster. A disaster is when HR don't help managers to grip useless staff.
Misinformation. A verbal warning in England can be informal according to ACAS even if it is a written record.
Having only been working with Golf HR for a short time I have been very impressed with the service received. Highly recommend.
