Your home looks so cozy ! ❤
Thank you! We do a lot to make it as cozy as we can :)
If your Mum does her advent puzzle calendar?
Thanks for the review! Lloyd Alexander was one of my favorite authors when I was young, and the Westmark books were my favorite of all his (although the Prydain books were high up there as well). The Kestrel might have been my favorite of the three, too. I also am saddened that these books have fallen out of print and are not well known; they are very good. I read most of the books Alexander put out through the first Vesper Holly book (which, I must confess, was one of my least favorite of his; perhaps it was because when it came out I was older, around 14 or so): Time Cat, The Marvelous Misadventures of Sebastion, The First Two Lives of Lukas Kasha, The Wizard in the Tree, etc. My son has read several of his later books, and particularly liked Prince Jen.
Oh say can you see?
Little late to this video but I just finished it and I feel like it didn't get everything wrapped up perfectly, I would have liked to know what became of a few more things/characters. One of my favorite themes was the pseudo science vs science/psychology vs fantasy, and the setting fit surprisingly well, so overall well done to it.
I love this series but I would place the time frame somewhere between 18 and 19th century. There are many parallels between the political issues in Westmark and the French revolution. I've always considered this the first "flint lock fantasy" although Las Bombas's magic was always snake oil not real magic
love this!!
thank you!

I REALLY want to read Kiss Her Once for Me!! Too many holds at the library, though.
It looks super cute. I can’t wait to get to it
😅the intro!!! I have the same struggle when I change my countdown to Christmas 😂😂 😍😍😍
I always forget what numbers are on what cube 😅
@@Unphilosophize omg same! Lol and I have an annoying string on one cube 😅 I should take it off lol
That was the first thing I did when I got this guy. It made it so much harder to turn the cubes and it just didn't look as nice with the string hanging out. I understand why they do it, because they don't want the cubes to get lost, but unless you're traveling around with the countdown they do tend to get in the way
Sounds like you had a good reading month. I've not read The Wheel of Time, but I've heard that book 8 is the middle of the slog.
It's one of my dad's favourite series so I was prepared for the slow down in the middle of the series. I think book 8 would have flowed better if the POVs changed more frequently. I'm still looking forward to the next book, though!
Adorable pup pup.
Thank you!
I just finished this book and I was BLOWN away. I literally couldn't put it down and started and finished it in a day. I came to UA-cam hoping to see a discussion on this book because of the ending. SPOILERS BELOW So in the end Dorothea believed Ruth. And so she had Ruth make the handkerchief intending to give it to Billy so he would pay for what he did. Dorothea brought her mother's needle with her because she did believe Ruth and she wanted Ruth to make a poison handkerchief. BUT did she ever intend on giving the handkerchief to Billy or the fact she brought her mother's needle prove she tricked Ruth and she meant to give the handkerchief to her father all along. OR at the last minute she decided to give it to her father and kill her father instead?. So that means her father did Poison her mother and was poisoning her and it also means that Ruth has magical powers. Correct?
I read this book so long ago that I honestly can't remember anymore what really happened. I remember being a bit disappointed in the ending (or maybe I'm making that up, I've no clue), but otherwise all I remember is the use of Phrenology. If you're looking for a similar book, I would recommend His Bloody Project. I think I prefer it to this one, though stylistically it is quite different. Alias Grace is also quite similar and a fantastic read, though a lot longer.
I’ve read the first three many times over the past years. I have the last two but I never wanted to ruin the ending the dragon heir had.
The last two books were good if you just didn't care about the original characters participating in the story.
One of my favorite Lloyd Alexander series too, along with Prydain. Luckily the Chronicles of Prydain is still in print I believe.
They were out of print for a long time. I found a boxset at costco once and it was so exciting.
One of the most successful book haul updates I have seen haha! That's awesome!
Thanks! I was honestly surprised. I just finished doing March's and it was also a bit too easy
Love seeing your advent calendar :)
I'm so glad as it's 75% of all my videos rn lol
Enjoying your Vlogmas! I’m a few videos behind but catching up 😀
Glad you like them!
Hope Christmas cow belles is good. I’m about to start The Twelve Slays of Christmas (Christmas Tree Farm Mystery #1) by Jacqueline Frost, there are only two books in the series so far but they are both Christmas themed.
I really enjoyed it! It was cute, and well paced. I also just really love cows, so that might have something to do with why I liked it so much lol I'm definitely going to have to look into that series for next year! I always love a good christmas cozy (:
I enjoyed watching your video! 💕 I just subscribed ⭐️ would love it if we could support each other ❤️
Thanks! I subed :)
Great video and intro! The biscotti looked so good.
Thanks!! I’m glad you enjoyed it! 🤗
One Day sounds like a great book! Also, I hope you enjoy your reread. I always love a good reread!
Sara's Reading Nook it was a lot of fun! I finished it this morning and have moved onto my final read, How To Speak Dragonese by Cressida Cowell. ~BADGES~
Love seeing your pup! Just a couple days left of the RR! 💛 We got this 💫
Your coffee looks great! Ah I totally have neglected laundry!
Thank you! It's actually cocoa and it is great. It is so hard to carve out time in your life for laundry! When you get down to it, it probably doesn't take that long, but I hate all the waiting. The only good thing about going to the laundromat over the past year is that I could do 5 loads at once, which I loved. Not that I'm complaining about being able to do laundry for free at my parents :p
Nice video 😆 hope you are having fun during this reading rush experience 😁
Thanks! You too!
Hi Colleen! I'm so happy you are doing the reading rush! And looking forward to seeing your vlogs!
Thanks! It's always my favourite readathon :)
Hi Colleen! I just found your channel. I wish I could’ve participated in the Reading Rush this year, but alas I am traveling and couldn’t commit to reading all the books. I love those editions of Harry Potter. And it’s so nice to have a designated reading place. Great vlog! I look forward to seeing more of your content and chatting with you about books 😊😄📚♥️
Hi Megan! Thanks so much for the kind words! I really love the little extra bits in the house editions, though I have a lot of mixed feelings about doing my reread right now. Alas. Hopefully you'll be able to participate fully next year and I hope your traveling goes well :)
Thanks for sharing. I just finished Library at Mount Char. I enjoyed it, but I think I've got a bit more stomach for violence than you do and if that's not something you're into, I can see how this book wouldn't be a very enjoyable read.
I had no idea you made videos! I would love to see more!
Great analysis! I picked up the book a few days ago and I really enjoyed it. I saw a differing review talking about how the author should have incorporated more of Andrews’ backstory in the beginning. Personally, I enjoyed it more towards the end in the revelation which made everything much more heartwarming and made me feel more for Andrew.
I fully agree with you. Once I finished reading Westmark, I was overjoyed to learn there were sequels and I couldn't stop until I found them all. Theo, Mickle, Los Bombas and Musket stay with you long afterwards. Thank you for the exuberant review.
I'm glad to hear from another fan!
I'm curious why you have a picture of Elizabeth 2 in your room? What's the backstory?
I live in Canada and you can get it, some other portraits, and the charter of rights and freedom for free from the government, so when I was in uni me and a group of friends requested them to decorate our places on the cheap. It was a nice bonding experiece.
I think it's stunning how many books you were able to read in about half a year! And you seem to know a lot about the authors and the books... I also love to read 😊but I am not at as determined as you when it comes to read it out 😉
I also thought this book was going to be eh going in and ended up enjoying it a lot more than I thought!
overBooked Awesome just picked my copy up today!!!hopefully I enjoy it 😁
Keep up the good work. How long have you been making videos for?! Did you ever check out ZMSocial(dot)com?? You should use it to get your videos higher in the search results!!
Being an adult has its bright sides. Eating chocolate whenever you want to has to be one of them. 😊 That party puppy is CUTE! 🦞
They are one of my favourite things that we sell at Chapters :) Eating chocolate whenever I want and not having a bedtime even though my bedtime is actually 10pm is also a perk ;)
Thanks. You convinced me😀
Glad to hear it! It's a really fun read.
Love the lipstick, and how the four last vlogs has had "Vlogmas 10" on the thumbnail. 😅👌 And Duke doing ALL the tricks he know to get them treats! ❤️
Duke is always the highlight of my day. I have not been on my game with the thumbnails! Thanks for pointing out that fun easter egg!\ Thanks, it's the Thumbelina liquid lipstick by Kat Von D
Duke!!!!
Your vlogs work great as an antistresser for me, when I come home from work. Thank you for that. 😊 I hope you feel better soon. 🌺
Thank you! I'm glad that you're enjoying my vlogs :)
I recently bought a book called crocuses hatch from snow by Jamie Burnet. She is a author from Halifax. So I hope to read that after exams!
Good luck with your exams!
Emergency chocolate! hahahaha. Love it! Hope you are feeling ok! See you soon :D
Thanks! I'm good, but you never know when you need a little sweet treat ;)
Ugh, I’ve just started the series. I really like it, but I started with the enchanter heir. Do you need the other books read in order?
Yay! I'm so glad you're enjoying it! As for your question, I would say yes and no. I think that you could read the concluding book, The Sorcerer Heir, without having read the original trilogy as it's following the new characters that Chima introduced in the Enchanter Heir. I would recommend reading the original trilogy in publication order, Warrior, Wizard, Dragon, but you do you. Reading in order will always give you more context for the characters and world, but aside from the Dragon Heir and Sorcerer Heir I didn't find that any of the books really relied on the plots of the one immediately preceding it. I hope that answers your question!
I consider it science fiction instead of fantasy; it's literally fiction about a scientist doing science. I greatly enjoyed it.
Yeah, I totally get where you're coming from. I like to talk about it more as speculative fiction, but it's classified as fantasy by Tor and Chapters where I work so I've just been rolling with it as a fantasy series.
@@Unphilosophize Science fantasy? Shake on that. :)
Nice video - you always seem to have a nice cross-section of reading material on your TBR list👍👍
Thanks! That's part of what I love about the randomization that my jar gives me :)
dang that editing skill with those stack of books! impressive
hehe, thanks! It took me a long time
I just started to read The Warriors Heir and i love it too!! 😁😁
It is such a great series! I've had the Seven Realms series on my radar for a while and after rereading the Heir Chronicles I really want to get to it (but still haven't picked it up :P)
This looked so fun
I had a great time on my two day vacation
