Ninji’s ability actually seems really interesting depending on your placement! Does that mean you could block opponents from shops in the mall, or stop them from getting coins from Koopa after a full lap on other maps, as long as you can pass them in your turn? Love that he gets such a tactical debuff!

Toad's ability is definitely worst, with Boo's & Monty's being highly situational. I believe Toadette's or Goomba's is best.

I don't like Pauline's because it could make the next few turns so frustrating and this is meant to be a *party* game

Boo’s I kinda bad because boo spots are usually quite far and getting to them in two turn isn’t likely so maybe At the start of your turn steal 20 coins from an opponent

I don’t think all of them should have one especially the less prominent characters in ninji and spike . But for sure bowser and more than likely toad should have had one!

I was actually discussing this with friends before and we had an idea for Bowser. When opponents attempt to pass you, triggers a mini bowser event. Bowser also does not leave you if you are passed. The mini bowser event is a watered down version of the bowser space, with any punishments of stolen things being given to whoever has Bowser. Stuff like lose coins, items, their next turn, or even forcing them to stop at the space behind you.

And maybe for Pauline’s mini-game involves having to climb to the top of the scaffolding like in donkey Kong the arcade game, whoever does so first gets her as a jamboree buddy.

Nah, boo just functions as a boo bell each turn but to make it fair, the player chosen is completely random and the cost for stealing a star is increased to 75 coins.

Toad feels a little underwhelming. Depending on the board, the chance that you land on an item space in the 3 turns you have him as an ally could be very small, and that's assuming he doesn't get stolen. I think it would be more balanced if he let's you play an item minigame at the start of each turn. Also, Bowser and Monty seem broken lol. One basically means you could potentially remove a whole ass star of all 3 opponents if you pass them on the same turn and the other is basically an item shield for 3 turns.

Spike’s ability seems really strong. Being able to send someone all the way back to start just allows for too much control over your opponents’ movement. I think a more balanced ability would be that the spike ball sends an opponent backwards equal to the amount of spaces the person with the buddy rolls. This can still be powerful because the amount of spaces can exceed ten with the use of dice items, but it isn’t so obnoxious due to the fact that the usefulness of the skill depends on how well you roll.

Best would be bowser so it needs to be more balanced: impostor bowser from the jamboree buddy will be a little simpler, for example not allowing him to steal a star

I couldn't think of one for every character, but here are my ideas. Toadette Allows the player to move the Star to a random position Toad Adds 5 to the player's dice roll Koopa Troopa Allows the player to buy one item for free when visiting an Item Shop Monty Mole Allows the player to buy one item from a random Item Shop Boo Allows the player to steal coins from an opponent of their choice

I think Pauline’s one should be optional like how donkey kongs one is optional

Great ideas! Here's some alternatives. Toad: When gaining an item... Have 1 extra item slot. Toadette: when using an item... Gain 1 extra use of that item. (Can't use on the same turn, like Mushroom tickets) Bowser: When landing on a space... Replace it with a temporary (3 turns) Bowser Space. Birdo: before rolling... Call Kamek's Shop. Goomba: When landing on a space... Gain the option to skip over it onto an adjacent space. Whaddaya think?
