Thank you

Thank you, spelling is not my strong point.
Any car built or modified by Zagato is the Pinnacle of Aston Martin builds in my opinion. With the exception of their Valkyrie. Zagato builds some of the most beautiful automobiles on the planet. Not just Aston Martin's, but ANYTHING they build! You can buy four Aston Martin's brand new for the price of just one Zagato built Aston Martin. The type of car that whenever you take it out, you are on pins and needles whether or not someone will crash into your priceless (and in many instances IRREPLACEABLE) vehicle! I am nervous every time I take my own pride and joy Nissan 370Z out, so I can only imagine what a Zagato owner feels when they take their own pride and joy out for a drive. Sadly, most of them are purchased by uber rich people who buy them as an investment and put them into the back of a garage they have with many other super rare and exotic cars. I personally like to see exotic cars with really high mileage meaning the owner(s) actually enjoyed the vehicle as it was intended to be enjoyed, not as an investment only. If I ever had a ton of money, I would be USING my exotic car(s). Guaranteed. I do love to keep my cars maintained and detailed to perfection so using it and then keeping it in as good of condition as possible isn't hard, you just have to do routine maintenance and cleaning sessions. I would definitely get the entire vehicle PPF'd so it could help to mitigate at least some of the rock dings and chips you get when driving any automobile. Not that I am a fan of ceramic coatings OR PPF, but on a really rare and exotic car like an Aston Martin Zagato. Yeah, that's almost a must have addition to preserve the rarity once it is prepped to perfection by a respectable detailing professional that specializes in HIGH END detailing like Esoteric, Status Detail, White Detailing, Paul Dalton, Contempo Concept, or similar detailer with the respect and catalog of previous work to prove they are the best possible detailing professional on the planet. Someone that truly specializes in exotic car detailing. That needs maintenance too but if you have enough to buy a Zagato, you most likely don't clean your own vehicles. You pay a high end detailing shop to preserve and maintain all your vehicles. Really rich people tend to have many vehicles so they normally have their favorite detailing professional maintain their fleet! But I do love seeing Bugatti Chiron's with a 50,000 miles on the clock or whatever exotic. Something like a Lamborghini with over 100,000 miles, or a Porsche GT3RS with 150,000 miles on the clock! That's cool in my opinion because the owners really enjoy using their high end car. That's what these incredible machines are for........driving enjoyment!
I couldnt agree more, this car has been purchased by one of my best clients who does drive all his high end cars, yes they all have ppf to protect the paintwork but they are driven hard and even on the track.its unfortunate that even the most expensive cars normally leave the factory with lots of paint faults that need to be corrected but it does keep us in work, thanks for your comment it is realy appreciated.
That’s crazy , especially on a car of that calibre.
I found even worse on the car as the job progressed,
Will you hose it off now Ted? Shouldn't iron removal be done before masking off? I'm intrigued by your process
I do explain in one of the many vids on this car that, the owner of the car did not want the car outside any longer than giving it a wash so many aspects of this detail changed from the norm and also as the car only had 300 miles on it I did not expect the paintwork to be so contaminated is it turned out to be, there where even more disturbing faults found as I got into this job, all these suprises and hoe I corrected them are in the videos that can be found in my channel. you ccertainly would not expect these faults in a million dollar car. Thanks for asking the question, I appreciate it.
I prefer to see a 30 mins time-lapse of the entire job. I was looking forward to seeing the final outcome.
Lucky mate Pete, skill level through the roof. The results speak for themselves Ted 👏👏👏
Wow, wow, wow what a fantastic result 👏👏👏
Thanks for the vid Ted, would love to see you doing the actual work . I.e flatting the paint, polishing different stages. Ceramic coatings etc. Most of us watching are probably weekend warriors who like to keep their own cars in reasonable shape. Learning techniques from the pros like yourself is what keeps us watching and increases our knowledge. I understand there is a lot more work and time needed for those type of videos editing etc. My absolute favourite is Sandro who is on UA-cam under the site CCDA ( Car Craft Detailing Australia ) . Thanks again Ted been watching the other vids, that red Ferrari was swirl city but came out great. Pete
all episodes of this job are available on this channel, unfortunatly I am better at polishing than I am at filming and editing lol
The paintwork looks great, fantastic job 👏👏👏
Thank you very much, I appreciate the comment
Hi ted I know your brother reg I’m in a college lesson with him now
lol, I bet thats special, joking apart he has a heart of gold and enjoys his job and the people like yourself that he gets to meet.
Perfection as usual 👍
What grit did you start with before the 6000. Nice work.
normally I would start at 2000 grit then 2500, 3000 then 6000, it all depends on how deep the scratches are and what the paint depth readings are saying, you cant allways get every scratch out but you can only do your best.
Ted there will Always be a place for Your level of craftsmanship in the detailing world, or any field really the issue is "the general public" , want it faster (yesterday preferably) and for cheaper Those who Want a car done, done Properly, With the attention to Detail that a Full detail implies, will Always seek out a craftsman can i take 3 to say i Wish and hope that your battle is won/winning and wish you All the best
Thank you for your kind words, I have tried to build a brand of excelence over the years but unfortunatly getting the kind of work that I love to do has got harder and when you do get a job I end up doing 30% more work than I get paid for but, thats my own fault but, with the increasing costs of paying for the premises and electric its getting harder to mmake ends meet. Once I get back to work and start trying to get the business started again I will have to make a decition on where I am going.
Nice to see you Ted, hope you are getting on ok ?
All good
Very nice
thank you
Hello Ted how are you ?
it has not been good at all, I have had 2 surgerys to try and remove a large tumor in my bladder, unfortunatly the cancer had started to spread into my back so I am now having an intence corse of chemo and that is knocking me about, once the chemo has finished i will have to have radio therapy every day for a month, once that is done I will then find out if I have to have my bladder removed, I will probably be unfit to do any work this year but I am fighting it all the way.
I can’t afford this beautiful car as I need money for lawyers fees to get my children to safety after I found them but this is a beautiful car sir. I also wish you a full recovery and strength for you and your family

Hi can you change colour from navy to black. If so what paint do I need cheers
yes you can, i use renovo products for all my roof colours and have found them to be very good.
Good luck Ted hope all goes well, do take care plus rest a while.
Hi... Thx for the Video. Where do these micro bubbles on the bottom come from? Is that solvet pop? Could these be removed?
Micro blistering and solvent pop are two different things, micro blistering normally comes from the base coats having moisture in them and if the bubbles on top are removed it can leave holes that go down to the base metal, these types of faults can only be corrected by compleatly bare metal re painting, solvent pop on the other hand is created by the solvent gases that can be trapped under the baked top coat but slowly come to the top, most of these pops can be removed by wet flatting and re polishing, me personaly would flat them out and leave for a day before polishing allowing some time for any more gassing out of the solvent after the crust has been opened by flatting, i hope this is helpfull but please do not hesitate to ask more questions.
What lights are that on your head?
snap on neck light, just moved them up on to my head for a more direct light, to be fair I also have the normal type head lamps that work just as well if you remember to charge them up lol.
You should show some of the work you do and do less explaining otherwise it gets a bit boring. Cheers
I will take that onboard, thankyou
Hope all went well ted
Things did not go as well as expected, I may have to have more surgery I will find out in a week or 2 the plan going forward, thanks for your best wishes, it means a lot.
Best wishes dude
thank you
All the best ted 🙏
All the best Ted, hope all goes well for you
❤
Get well!
Thank you.
What polishs do you use for this? Thanks
I use Menzerna 3800 finishing polish with a soft foam or soft microfibre pad, wipe of carefully so you dont scratch it again.
@@tedwhitehall2540Thanks
Just a thought bruv, is the cylinder head secured with bolts or studs???. If its bolts why not just lift the head. Yes its another head gasket but you get to remove the manifold bolts on the bench. Food for thought 🤔🤔
I am going to cut the exhaust so i can lift the manifolds out, this will give me plenty of room.
How much would this cost mate. Could you change colur from red to black?
Hi Chris, yes you ca change the color but the Red will bleed through so it would need a lot of cots of black and each cote would have to be left to dry before the next was applied so although it is not really more work, it would take longer to complete the job, cost would be approx £500 quid that also includes waterproofing the roof as well.
Boring
500 all first off the production line. Lol.
lol
Great job Ted looking good now.
Thanks mate
A big difference so far Ted, look forward to seeing the end result
Thank you.
Where are you based Ted?
Minworth, sutton coldfield, Birmingham.
Just for the record they all said 1/ 500 They wasn't individually numbered. I know this because the salesman lied to me when I bought mine back in the day.
That is what I have been hearing, thanks for your input, it is always welcomed.
Hi ted thank you for the video and sorry about the trouble with the paint and brake fluid. I recommend you use only silicone fluid as they last a lifetime (non hygroscopic) AND do not affect paint. You can literally pour a bottle on the bodywork and nothing happens. Non corrosive
Thanks for your comment I will remember that for the next time.,
Thank you for sharing. I'm in the process of deciding if I want to restore my 280 SL, or sell it. Any tips on the best way to get an accurate appraisal?
There is no real formula to work out the values of these cars as they have gone up and down over the years, The last project SL that was sold by one of my friends went for 45k but the body repairs were done but not painted, to pay for a full restoration by someone who will do a proper build would be anything upto 120k so the buyer would have to value the car by how he would be restoring the car. have a look at the market and work out an average value from that, I hope this helps a little and I am sorry that I cannot be more specific.
If you are going to do the work yourself this would make a massive difference to the build costs.
@@tedwhitehall2540 thank you, your explanation is helpful. I suppose there would be a premium for a one owner car with matching body numbers. I have spoken to a few Pagoda owners with excellent restorations but none of them have matching body numbers.
@@BeantownToBigD Matching numbers and history files add a lot of value to any classic car, but well restored cars still fetch good money
Incredibly high standard of workmanship 👌
I think it's worth it being Number 1. The RS 500 Focus was nice from the front but because the black out back windows, They did look like a Van lol an Clarkson said that. Nice sounding 5 cylinder one of my favourite soundtracks out of a engine block 👌🏻
Thanks for taking the time to comment

Great job Ted nice to hear the engine running, always takes time to refine. Great job.
Cheers mate, I am looking forward to this being finished.
It may have been left too long, of the readings are low already, the onus is on the owner. As you say hard to ask for cost of time that you spent trying. The bonnet plus roof are the same age. If it goes out plus you are not happy they are paying for your knowledge plus experience. Good luck Ted great decision for a quality outcome.
It means the world to me when you leave a comment on my vids Even though they are not great quality but you have always supported me. Thank you.
What type paint is that?
renovo roof dye
Good find Ted once anything after market is attached it can cause an issue. The guys fitting the alarm are just doing that, will littlite care for any ongoing issue. They weave those wires into the network. You can buy tones for finding wires..they bleed once you short out the paint they're the one you need. You can loop the supply with a paper clip to find the route or even earth one leg. Physically pulling the wire to find where it runs is another option with a mate. As those initial faults are compounded finding the problem is not easy, at least it is not intermittent. You could re route the alarm from another mains feed away from this. Knowing where the standard wires end plus the addition started always a challenge. Does the Pagoda Forum have a wiring diagram. Good luck Ted you are the guy to get it done.
Cheers mate, I do have a factory wiring diagram but unfortunately, it does not have the wiring colors on it so it has been a mission to find what goes where but now i shall be wiring it back up as the car was modified, very satisfying to find the faults but a lot of wasted time getting there.
That is electric faults this complex all over, even the electronic four were joining the fix, well done guys.
Absolutely stunning my brother had a lime green Mexico in the late 70s early 80s loved that car.😊😊😊
Thank you, yes the car5 brings back plenty of happy memories.
I can see you have added more quality if even that was possible. To surpass your own high standard is fantastic, words for a car guy are hard to find when a car is presented to an exceptional standard. Show quality at it's best, thx Ted.
Thank you again for your kind words, it is when I look back at the state the car was in 12 months ago and see where it is at now, it has taken a lot of patience to bring it to this standard but the owner has himself gone above and beyond with his own details on this car and I feel he deserves my best work.
Absolutely stunning Ted. Your attention to detail and patience truly pays dividends. Followed your work since your 1st Mercedes write up on DW. Always amazing!
Thanks, mate for your long-term patience watching my rubbish filming, your comment is really appreciated.
