This is my favorite video I ever filmed, it was a great night and the fire plumes are so cool and the dance is so good this could be a video of ancestors from thousands of years ago.

@@P226nut good job! My nephew is a Jicarilla crown dancer. Our men have danced for many generations. Too many younger generation men seem to be confusing healing prayer dances with modern entertainment for prize money 💰 and show off copycat dances. Yes, when dancers are humbly dancing with love to bring healing, you can feel the Healing Energy. The smoke from the fire 🔥 carries the prayers up to Ussen and the Gaan Spirits begging for healing. 💐🌹🌹😃

We have a dance group here on the Mescalero reservation that was started by my great great grandfather Charles Martine Sr, it was the 4 pointed star, he brought it out of prison from Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. He was the US Chiricahua Apache scout that got Naiche and Geronimo to surrender in 1886.

Good Ol’ Apache, Oklahoma... I remember one year it was raining and the wind was making it so cold that you didn’t wanna be outside... But there we were, getting down for our culture in freezing temperatures... 🙌🏽

I have great respect for all the Navajo code talkers. They played a vital role in the war. My father fought in world war 2. He is no longer with me but his stories remain forever. It is an honour to listen to Samuel T. Cymru ( Wales) Uak. 🤝

I should add I am travelling from Cymru ( Wales) UK. That is why it is why it will be my only visit. If I could afford to I would visit frequently

I love the Apache crown dance. Beautiful meanings and history of it. I try to wait patiently until covid passes so I can come to a Pow Wow. Will be my only opportunity, as it has taken many years to fulfill this lifelong wish. 🤝

I herded sheep for this man when i was 10. He was awesome but his family was F*cked! I did not enjoy being left out on a sheep camp for 2 months alone by El Capitan? He was married to a Grandma of mine from my Mothers side. Lupita.

Some years ago I attended a dance northwest of Mescalero in the boonies. There were 3 troupes performing that night too. I was told to look into the fire and I would see a phenomenon. It was a...ma...zing. I received corn pollen the next morning.

I was at a sacred site near El Paso some years ago. I heard traditional flute music coming from an unknown location. Three hours later I met a young white lady who held a flute in her hands and was the source of that music. She wanted to play for me and she did. I told her a story about my grandfather and mother but it either went over her head or she didn't want to hear criticism. All she wanted was my approval. The traditional Kiowa Gourd Dance (Tia-Piah-Gaw) does not allow females in the dance area with the men. Doesn't matter if the female is a combat veteran. The Kiowa Gourd Dance is traditionally a men's fraternity. If any contravention occurs to the tradition of the Kiowa Gourd Dance then it is not authentic.

Just a note to say thank you for conducting this interview, to Mr. Caesar for his wisdom, and to Dr. Meadows and the committee for putting on the powwow. I was at the powwow--wish I had known that the interview was being done. Good memories of the powwow, though.
