Full Playthrough | "Ain't No Sunshine" Bass Playthrough 🎸
Watch the full playthrough of "Ain't No Sunshine" from the Rockschool Bass Debut syllabus! 🎓 I'm focusing on keeping the groove tight and using my fretting hand to mute the open strings when they're not being played, giving the bassline a smooth, clean sound.
👉 Keep practicing and focus on muting those open strings to really nail this piece!

picture of piano super bad... you confuse people
Great cover and great tone! Appreciate the tabs being up too! 😊
Bro you did spider man's thing not the rock and roll thing
This might be a dumb question, but can you write tabs in Roman numerals instead of Arabic?
Roman Numerals are more commonly associated with chord progression reading.

They have! Kids don't know how lucky they are. I have fond memories of the Metallica-ish tune from Grade 3, Download \m/
@@upthemusicservicesI’m surprised tbh. That can’t be cheap. You should do a series where you find the knock off versions and play them. I’d love that haha

You're welcome! Like barre chords, the position is universal up and down the neck for transposition.
Chinese scales😂
Nice. I don’t practice with a metronome, but I think I’m going to start using one
I'd recommend it.
love it - great fingers
Reading music is fun
You should do leftie lessons 🤔.
Out of all my private students, I only have one lefty (which was very fortunate when he forgot his guitar one week!)
@@upthemusicservices 👍I always hear righties saying it looks weird and I can't think of any leftie lessons I've seen on 'tube ( not that I've looked )...just saying😁
Funnily enough, when I first starting posting with a non-mirrored camera, I got complaints I was the wrong way round 🫠 - feel free to reach out if lefties lessons via zoom 1-2-1 would interest you! jamie@upthemusicservices.co.uk
@@upthemusicservices I understand 😁, and thanks for the offer...I've been playing fairly self-taught for 38yrs😂...I have much to learn but feel it would be a fruitless effort to try and unteach so many repetitions of bad technique😉
@@neilwilson5871 Ha! I have a couple of students that went through that. Mostly with learning to use their pinky while playing!
I’m working out of a book called reading studies for guitar by William Levitt, Berkeley series
I’ll check it out!
@@upthemusicservices I went through the second book called advanced reading studies for guitar I’m also working on volume two of “a modern method for guitar” Berkeley series by William Levitt Since March 2023, I’ve read through about 12 different books. Currently going through Ted Green jazz guitar single note solving volume one, for the second time. The reading study Berkeley book that I mentioned first, book one covers the first seven positions and book and the advanced reading book covers positions eight through 12 I also have flute and trumpet books that I like to read through
Sounds like my girl.
Good ear! My Girl’s riff also uses the Major Pentatonic.

Valeu!!!
you’re so talented! Xx
I started reading again more seriously, about 15 months ago. It’s a tough journey, but it’s worth it. What book are you working out of?
This is from the Rockschool series.
Toll..und jetzt?😂
🐂💩
How can that be grade 5?
This is just an example of what could be asked for as a technical exercise at grade 5 by the examiner. If you take a look at the description, you’ll see that the exam would not necessarily be what’s in this video, as the examiner can request any number of keys. This is also only a small part of those technical exercises, with other scales, arpeggios and stylistic studies making up the technical portion of the exam.
@@upthemusicservices I know how exams work. I would expect this to be for grade one or two. It certainly wouldn’t be grade 5 in Trinity guitar exam.

Root on A?
That’s right. Instead of playing the root note of D on the 10th fret of the E string, it’s played on the 5th fret of the A string. A great way to further master the fretboard.
@@upthemusicservices isn't the Root always 1?
@@thefreedomaffect5131 No, he’s playing the root on the 5th fret of the A string. It’s a D Major Pentatonic scale, 12356 so D-E-F#-A-B. And yes, the root is always the 1 of both the chord and the scale.
@m.vonhollen6673 thx for clarification. I thought maybe it was a copy and paste but forgot to change the Root key.
Root is on C, not A?
Root on the A string, not A note. 3rd fret of the A. Typically when people learn scales it’s all six strings. Quite useful for learning the fretboard to be able to build scales from the A string, too 😊
C major, Pentatonic is the same notes as A minor pentatonic
Great playing ofc its smooth but i gotta ask, what the fuck is going on with yo headstock bruh. Why the fender logo look like that?
I’m a lefty. Portrait mode mirror flips the image 😊
@upthemusicservices ahh right I've got you that makes sense lol thanks for clearing
Good video but y did I think at the end you were gonna play amongus theme lol
Начало было похоже на произведение "В пещере Горного короля"
It’ll likely use a similar scale!
