Forgot the plastic rain shields for the sticking out poles that hold the fly sheet
Very cool
Really helpful - thank you!
Really useful video. Succinct and to the point 😊

Please stop saying "Orientate". The word is "Orient". Thank you

I’m about to take a course for it, thanks!
Very helpful video: thank you. Few points to note perhaps. When unpacking at a campsite, keep the bits together , close and out of the wind while using trangia. (Those tie-up things get lost ALL the time.) For those with long hair using the stove, it is helpful to remind them to tie back their hair before using a trangia. Location: the refuel area and fuel storage area should be distant and separate from the cooking area. Location for cooking: it’s advisable if possible, to keep one side of the cooking area against something like a barrier to prevent others walking through or across the cooking area.
Nicely mowed site.
so helpful as my practice bronze Dofe is next week thursday
Thank you :)

Not helping get lost
Classic piece of kit! I've had mine for over 30 years and it's still going strong, including the original rubber ring on the inside of the screw lid. A few more tips: Rather waste the meths (burn it off or pour it out) after cooking, let the burner cool and simply screw on the burner rubber-sealed lid. The lid does indeed help heat things (water, soup, whatever) much quicker when over the pans, but the 'lid' is also a frying pan - just flip out the three 'pan rests' upward from the windshield, then the frying pan/lid sits on those - the only downside is the flame is much further away form the bottom surface of the frying pan, but that also helps not to have a small 'hot spot' when frying. The extinguishing/simmer lid is a bit of a faff to set to simmer (when wanting to heat soup/beans/etc.) without burning, but well worthwhile using as it 1) saves burning food, and 2) saves your meths. I always fill my burner 3/4 before each cooking session to minimise having to wait to cool then refill. I also refill my burner after using so it's ready for the next time. Slower than gas, but fuel available from so many places - brilliant kit!
There's ways and means to get these tents up and gown and keep the inner bone dry (even in nasty conditions). Put the frame and flysheet up and leave semi loose but guyed; and put up your inner from the inside. Then secure tent. To take down, do in reverse; loosen outer and take down inner and fold in the shelter of the flysheet; then take down flysheet and poles. Attach mushroom feet into their positions to give maximum strength.
I get it now 🤦♂️
kinda look like bill cosbey
He’s white mate
can you not control the flame/temperature on the gas burner? ie turn it down a bit
Yes you can!
Yes, you can turn the gas down, it gives good control Given up using messy meths
use the strap in the correct position a-hole
Thank you so much i dumped the instructions on how to assemble & light it. Very good clear instructions thank you again
From memory I think the new revised design is meant to have the tips of the poles through the grommets on the inners corners, old style had mushroom tips on the poles to go on the ground.... Anyway your pole position didnt look quite right
You just saved my DofE course, thank you
Thank you so much! It’s a amazing video and clear instructions
Looks like a recipe for disaster lol
Thank you sir meths are great

That’s not a trangia gas burner. It’s a Chinese knock off! 😲
how can you tell?
@@neridaduncan2710 My Trangia gas burner (3210) looks different on the end where you connect the gas canister.
@@neridaduncan2710it has the wrong gas connector.
What have you done to that ridge pole? Its like a banana. I've had my Mk4 since the 70s and it is still straight. The entrance end of the tent is far too taught and as a result the zip cannot be closed properly. Also for a demo video make sure the tent pegs are straight......at least to begin with.
Thank you sir. I would have never thought twice about adding more meths into the burner if it ran out mid way through cooking. Bit of a numpty I know but still, the more you know as they say! So thank you again.
Still standing on the tent. You have not checked the ground for any stones. No mention of wind direction.
You don't stand on the tent. Golden rule of camping.
I hate people treading on the canvas.
Nice guide in plain and simple language. Fact about the air hole positioning is class. Thanks
Hi, would it be suitable just to put everything inside of the large dry bag instead of a dry bed as well as several other dry bags?
Great tents. Always clean the ground under the floor and feel for stones before final pegging inner tent. Rubber tap washers are good under and over the flysheet on the spikes.
I keep Tent clothes inside sleeping bag and compression strap the whole thing up, this still fits easily inside the lower compartment and saves that extra bag inside your main compartment. It also saves you carrying/opening one more dry bag.
Could this work with my 60 litre rucksack?????
Great video good review
Useful video for people starting out. As with anything and everything, your personal 'style' will evolve based on your preferences with regards to load distribution and accessibility. I've recently started using the Karrimor SF 'Odin' which was originally designed for the Danish military. The Odin has a 'clamshell' opening which gives full access to the interior of the pack which is an absolute game changer. Here's a short vid of me packing for a hike along Hadrian's Wall ua-cam.com/video/t5V95OeCY4Q/v-deo.html
Do not listen to most of the advice in the video, go to an experienced independent backpackers channel
Bad advice there fella
Why put things in a dry bag inside a waterproof liner, also i unroll the sleeping pad and open it into a tube inside the rucksack. Uses less room
Well said Adam. I've been going that for years.it also gives everything packed inside it another layer of protection. And pack your tent last of all. Shelter is your number 1 priority and if it's hissing down sideways when you are making camp, the last thing you need is a struggle to extract your tent from its interrment under everything else packed on top of it. Next thing you need out is your cook set. Getting a brew on is your next priority after shelter. Lastly minimise your spare clothing. It can add up to a surprisingly large amount of extra weight if you don't. Don't be like the girl in a DofE group who packed numerous pairs of jeans on the grounds of not knowing which pair or colour she would wasn't to wear in camp after the day's trek. Just keep it simple and keep it light.
How many people will fit into this tent?
3 xx
You shouldn’t be carrying a full tent for duke of Edinburgh award as it is group kit so split it between your group
Yes, that makes sense. However, if you split up the contents of the said tent, things can easily go missing. Surely, other people can put in a similar graft, but towards something else in the group kit list, can't they?
