Erin is a wonderful example of how to be. I don't agree with the PC culture, so I am impressed with her honesty and openness. I was recently in the Temecula California area and attended an estate sale of art professor who had passed away. His art work was all over the home and on the porch were many paintings for sale. I was enthralled at his impressionistic style and instantly fell in love. I purchased two (wish now I had gotten more) and am thinking this is going to be "my style" as well because it resonates in me so strongly. Funny thing is, at the estate sale I overheard two women expressing their disgust in the artists many "ugly" paintings. I have mine hanging proudly in my home. I wished he'd signed them.

Erin do you step back then paint or just straight on detail?

I just discovered you yesterday. When I saw a few paintings I said " wow iridescent" and im not talkin about paint. Ive always kinda like iri paint but never figured where or what. I use fluorescents and mixed media. The chroma is so difficult so is a true white under uv light. Im a drawer that tries to paint my draw.my friend ( the kings son) greg edwards he wanted to be like rembrandt when he was 12 he took less9ns( Elvis took care of all his kids) but me I like your style Erin. I have a fancy for blacklight posters art and when I saw your work oh my. Im tryin to achieve a certain look and I kinda see it in yours too so im so inluv with it!

This technique has been around for 100 years ... look at Tom Thomson "The Jack Pine" ... done in 1916-17

I love Erin's work and her philosophy about art. I feel the same way. Modern art is such a fail. Take Stacy Emin's Bed for example; her bed after a bad break-up, with "crumpled tissues, period-stained clothing, cigarettes, empty vodka bottles, a pregnancy test, lubricant, and condoms". She "decided" it was a work of art. Art used to have standards. We didn't get to draw a stick man on a cocktail napkin and decide it was art. What passes for art now is ridiculous.

1200 Paintings, Wow!!

I love your work Erin..you are so inspiring! I am also an oil painter but gravitate to tertiary colours most of the time.I paint in and it layers it takes quite a while to finish a painting. Thank-you for inspiring me to speed up and use brighter colours for a change.
