Let's Make A Song #20 - "Haunted Experimental Trap"
In this special episode, we dive into the dark and mysterious world of Haunted Experimental Trap. Starting with an ominous, experimental hip-hop drum loop, we build a chilling soundscape with Mellotron strings run through a gritty guitar amp for an eerie, vintage feel. Next, we chop up some acoustic guitar to create haunting, tape-like textures that add a layer of depth and nostalgia. And it's the first episode at the new studio! THE BACKROOM
The lyrics bring a melodic, modern hip-hop and R&B vibe, delivering introspective and emotional themes that match the track's ghostly undertone. Watch as we push boundaries, blending genres and experimenting with sound design to craft something truly unique.

Let's Make A Song #19 - "Lo-Fi Soft Grunge"
Переглядів 43День тому
"Lo-Fi Soft Grunge" is a textured fusion of dreamy lo-fi soundscapes and raw soft grunge aesthetics. The track begins with a distorted soft rock guitar progression, transitions into indie-inspired chords with experimental pitch shifts, and layers chill raps with an emotional, hard-hitting chorus. A thick, distorted synth bass and melodic bass guitar licks add depth, while the rock-influenced dr...
Let's Make A Song #18 - "Modern Indie Folk Pop"

In this episode of Let’s Make a Song, I dive into the world of Modern Indie Folk Pop. It all begins with a foundation of acoustic guitar chords, setting a warm and familiar tone. From there, I build momentum by crafting a set of modern indie drums, blending experimental textures with a trendy groove. To add depth and a touch of elegance, I layer in a simple yet captivating piano melody with bas...
"Metaphors" from Let's Make A Song #18
Переглядів 814 днів тому
This is the modern indie-pop song I made this week on Let's Make A Song, the musical podcast where I write and produce one song per week and try to make the process entertaining every time, as I chat and build the instrumental. This song used acoustic guitar, piano, and bass. The drums were from Monte Booker's Sounds pack #3 I believe. I have all of them though, could have been from any you sho...
Let's Make A Song #17 - "Neo-Gothic Synth Rock"
Переглядів 4321 день тому
In this episode, I start with an acoustic guitar song that feels like it could have been performed by Deftones or Creed. From there, the song transforms into something entirely new: tubular bells and a distorted synth bass set the stage for a brooding atmosphere. Sun-scorched synth chords and windswept pads add a cinematic touch, while thrashing wub bass and blown-out dubstep drums crash throug...
Let's Make A Song #16 - "Manic Industrial Rap"
Переглядів 22Місяць тому
Episode 16 of Let’s Make A Song is pure chaos and catharsis. Brad Reid dives into a manic storm of industrial hip-hop, distorted synths, and searing rap verses that pull no punches. Fueled by an angry guitar riff, punishing 808s, and an overdriven Juno synth, this track doesn’t just push boundaries-it obliterates them. The lyrics are unflinchingly honest, confronting mental illness, rebellion, ...
Let's Make A Song #15 - "Trap-Infused Chamber Pop"
Переглядів 37Місяць тому
In this episode of Let's Make A Song, we blend the rich emotional depth of chamber music with the hard-hitting sounds of trap and electronic pop. Starting with sad string chords running through a guitar amp, the track evolves into a fusion of beep drums with reverb, reminiscent of 808s and Heartbreak, and a thumping EDM-pop bass line that drives the energy forward. I layer in alternative hip-ho...
Let's Make A Song #14 - "Baroque Hip Hop"
Переглядів 43Місяць тому
In this episode of Let's Make A Song, we dive into the intricate world of baroque pop infused with hip-hop energy. It all begins with a classical string melody, setting a rich and dramatic tone. Layer by layer, we build the track with resonant bass strings, the classic sparkle of a harpsichord, and rhythmic beatbox-inspired drums. The focus shifts to the heart of the song: writing empowering ly...
Let's Make A Song #13 - "Space-Folk"
Переглядів 56Місяць тому
In Episode 13 of Let's Make A Song, we embark on a retro sci-fi musical journey! Starting with acoustic guitar chords inspired by the vastness of space travel, I layer in an inquisitive bass line that adds a sense of curiosity and adventure. To ground this cosmic exploration, I bring in folk-style drums, creating a rhythm that feels timeless yet otherworldly. The lyrics are a love letter to vin...
Let's Make A Song #12 - "Alternative Rock"

In this episode, we dive into the world of alternative rock, blending introspective lyrics with a powerful mix of electric guitar arpeggios, 808 synth bass, and vintage rock drums. Building from a haunting guitar melody, we layer in gritty power chords, a driving electric bassline, and a steady drumbeat that captures the essence of old-school rock with a modern twist. Join me as we experiment w...
Let's Make A Song #11 - "Boom Bap"
Переглядів 1342 місяці тому
In Let's Make a Song 11, I dive into the gritty, raw style of boom bap. Starting with jazzy piano chords and a bell lead melody, I layer a moody string pad and add drums with a smooth swing, grounded by a groovy bass guitar. The beat sets the stage for some rap battle-style verses, bringing in sharp, diss-track energy with bold, punchy lyrics. This episode is all about tight flows, hard-hitting...

What if "Thick Of It" by KSI was actually good?

Experience a fresh, emotional take on KSI's Thick of It with this raw acoustic cover that dives deeper into the song’s essence. Stripped back with acoustic guitar and a resonant bassline, this version amplifies the song’s intensity and highlights brand-new, heartfelt lyrics. Inspired by the original but driven by a need for real depth and emotion, this cover brings a fresh perspective to KSI’s ...
Let's Make A Song #9 - "Jazz-Rap"

In this episode of Let's Make a Song, I dive into the world of jazz rap, building the track from the ground up. Starting with a smooth, jazzy bassline, I layer in rhythmic drums to create a solid foundation. Next, I introduce the warm tones of an electric piano, followed by a twinkly acoustic piano to add depth and complexity. To top it off, shimmering bells accent the melody, giving it a refle...

You're right, I gotta start doing that. Thanks!
like it man.. good stuff :) ...i've been thinking of doing 'lets make a song' for bloody years haha
Thank you! You should do it.
hey man, just wanted to say watching your videos always makes my day and i love the content that you produce. keep it up bro your music is amazing
Made me smile. Thank you, lots more comin!
Going forward, I would suggest separating short form content / long form stuff into different buckets. For example, streaming a hour session on youtube in full and then posting an edited down version that's 75% shorter the next day. That way people can digest either/or depending on how much time they have available. Having watched a lot of similar creators doing that, I like it a lot because I don't always have time for 30m+ videos but being able watch a cut down version of such is almost like a movie trailer for the full vod which I will then watch later (which I otherwise wouldn't). Plus you get to double the content you upload leading to more impressions overall. Just my 2-cents dawg
That's a good idea. I thought of cutting down a bunch of 1min clips for instagram and tiktok, but I hadn't thought of making short versions for youtube. Every episode would be a lot of editing to commit to right now, but I'll try that for the next episode and see how it goes, thanks for the idea
Hey! I just wanted to say that your authentic, uncut footage and the philosophical thoughts you share about the music-making process are super inspiring and relatable. I often find myself having similar reflections while creating music, so it's nice to see someone else working through that too. I also really appreciate seeing your projects evolve from start to finish-even when you're second-guessing yourself. Some of your least favorite content is actually the stuff I find most inspiring! It really shows how important it is to put yourself out there, because something you might think is "not great" could end up being someone else's favorite. You never know what doors that could open! As for the feeling of being "on the spot" while recording, I can’t speak for the video side of things, but I’ve always recorded everything I play on the keyboard (audio only) as a practice. It took a while, but eventually I stopped noticing the recording was happening at all. Now I can tap into the same mindset as if no one’s listening, which helps me feel more free to experiment and create. Just a thought that might help with the pressure of being on camera! Keep up the great work-I’m really enjoying the journey so far dude.
Thanks for such a thoughtful message. That's good to hear what you find inspiring, I'll remember that as I keep pushing. I'm trusting whatever the universe gives me every week is good enough in the grand scheme of things regardless of how I feel about it in the moment. That's good advice, I'll remember that too. I already felt more comfortable recording my upcoming episode after having expressed that, so I think you're right. Nice to know you enjoy.

Thanks for watching!
Nice man
Thanks for watching!
🔥🔥🔥
goodluck! keep up the grind!
Thank you, you're the best! Will do, every Monday at 7!
The wrench I’ll throw into your process is to make a cover of the most highly acclaimed song of 2024, “Thick of It” by KSI.
What kind of rectifier / output and preamp tube model numbers are those? Nice project!!
Amazing now' see I will make my song (hahahah) Btw what about cakewalk daw?
Cakewalk is awesome, that's what I started on! Ableton is a big upgrade though as far as workflow, I like how you can copy and paste things while the song is playing, can't do that on cakewalk
Amazing now' see I will make my song (hahahah)
this is awesome. could you elaborate on your Vocal Chain? What effects or compressors do you use?
Thanks, I'll go through it on the next episode! I keep it pretty simple
Yooooooo. Love the edit. The beginning and end. Love what you did here! “I don’t even know anymore” 🤣🤣
Thanks! Lol there were a few funny moments I could have put in the intro, fun shoot
🔥🔥🔥
:)
You’re so talented. I’m a huge fan of your work!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH
