Haha, there's no way they would put in a rule like that! It is an open division, so anyone can enter! I think the other players do enjoy the added competition that players like Rob bring to these events too!

Jake and Chiron were so fun to watch, this game was legendary. Other team got pumped up too early and lost their momentum. Jake has been one of my fav players to watch and definitely cemented himself in my mind with this game

New to pickleball and asking to learn. It seems like the paddle head is not below the ball when the guy in the white t-shirt is serving. Am I seeing it right? And isn’t it true that the paddle head needs to be below the ball and not perpendicular to the ground at the point of contact with the ball during a serve?
Hey, welcome to this awesome sport, good job seeking knowledge! For pickleball serving rules, there is nothing that mentions the paddle head needing to below the ball, but if it wasn't below the ball, that would seem hard to hit (due to physics! 🤓) Here are the rules in play for serves - The arm must be moving in an upward arc and the highest point of the paddle head shall be below the wrist when it strikes the ball. The highest point of the paddle head cannot be above any part of the line formed where the wrist joint bends. Looks legal - 15:04 example
Thanks. I was looking at @4:39 in slow motion where the paddle is perpendicular to the ground. Also, I got called out during a rec play for having a similar serve which threw me off.
