Tomata du Plenty: Reliving the Nightmare
A promo video we made for his 1998 blowout punk art exhibit at Exene Cervenka and John Roecker's store "You've Got Bad Taste." It was a huge success.
We love and miss you, Tomata!

Butch, one of the greatest longboard surfers of all-time, lived fast and died way too young. He and Mickey Munoz go to Maui in this film footage of "Stop the Wave, I Want to Get Off!" by Jim Wilhoite. Edited by Logan Gerber.
Used to hang with a great gal on the North Shore in the late sixties. She had been Butch's girlfriend for several years while he was drinking himself to death. Remember passing by Butch's place at Waimea Bay and seeing the empty Primo cases stacedk to the roof...
@@SuzyAbernathyHerron was it Beverly? She was awesome. I interviewed her for my book on Butch
So awesome! Thanks for sharing this video. Tomata was a friend of my mom's. I got to meet him a few times. He was a very sweet man.
Coach Edward’s at LJHS said Butch was such a good athlete he could have had a career in the NFL or MLB
Meant butch at the hobie shop with Bob bermell in the 60's
@@KentKiner-dt5rp Bob Bermell. There is a name.I haven't heard in a long time. He was there the 1st day Waimea was ridden. Whatever became of him?
...great carpenter!!
🎶 🎨 🫶
Long way from ljhs
Even though I'm English myself, it wrecks my head seeing 'Quint' talk so English. Just goes to show what a great actor he was.
Sick, incredible jamming
One could say Quinterview.
Fun video! I remember “dragging “ my cousins log to the beach . Man , it was heavy for a 12 year old and turning for a skinny kid was really tough. Would dream of riding like these guys!
Now you see, this completely correlates with an interview that Richard Dreyfuss did not long ago, where he mentioned throwing a glass of bourbon overboard. Shaw must have been bored that day. 😂
fantastic surfer
He and my Dad were friends in La Jolla
What was your dad's name? I might know of him
Lived in Hawaii from March ‘62 to March’64. Surfed Haneloa March ‘64. Saw Butch surf all over the North Shore. One of my heroes. He was a cool guy. I was 20 and found myself surfing with all my legends from the surf movies I saw in Cali. They were all very down to earth guys. But I was still intimidated. 🤣 So grateful I got to be a part of that era.
Ole Quint never got his 10 G's
Honolua Bay December 1964. I was there that day with one of my best friends who was the best surfer in the line up. Mickey was very stoked but we told him it was just an average day. We were bummed because normally we were the only ones out and considered this day too crowded. 😊
Hawaii was paradise then, I got to spend the 70's there
Back home we got a taxidermy man. He gonna have a heart attack when he see what I brung him.
Thanks for sharing this memory of my 2nd cousin Butch. Died way too soon!
Damn, Henry was quick. Even just taking it easy for the camera he looked dangerous.
abducted by aliens...vanished into thin air
I would guess sue tissue was MK ULTRA, REALLY WEIRD CHICK, irs records was run by copelands brother who was into all that mind control stuff, the bangles susan hoffs was mk ultra for example, not saying neither had talent, they are just from all the mind control cults.
Wow, he had such a posh English accent in his natural voice! He was very talented. RIP Robert Shaw
He was born in Lancashire, but was trained at RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Art) in London which is probably where he developed a posher accent than he had originally.
How cool❤
Pan Am what a massive airline.
Heavy he was amazing😮
At least he kept it real!
Dreyfus talks interminably because... well... he's a J.. you know, the word no one is allowed to speak or write anymore. Robert apparently wasn't keen on Richard's constant gabbing.
What's a "J"?
wow
Helluva actor. May he RIP.
...sad to think that barely a year later he'd have a heart attack...just 51...
4 years, actually. Jaws was filmed in 1974. Shaw died in 78.
Shaw is Scottish
No. He was English. Born and bred in England
Captain Quint knows what a good quality drink like whiskey or good rum or good beer 🍺 cheers 🍻 to you late Robert shaw
Fair well to you Spanish ladies and bold leggings Ladies making fun of Matt hopper because of the shark cage 🦈 😊
Its to bad that Captain didn't get the reward for his terror story of Indianapolis disaster
An awesome actor and man.
Look how chill and rustic Martha's Vinyard was.
Shaw was an utter SOB and a superb talent.
The local dentist probably wasn’t fond of Shaw for telling the reporters he was loose with the lips about people’s secrets
Shaw and gene Hackman would have been some double act.
Very well spoken, articulate guy. Great actor, loved him in the sting aswell
Shaw was an absolute gem in JAWS... For me he made the movie more real...
Most important part a Ford Pinto!!!!
Just his stance during this interview is pure Quint
I always love hearing his real accent. When I first realised he was Grant in From Russia With Love, my heart jumped for joy.
So weird hearing Quint talk with a British accent.
A great actor and personality, a superb performance as Quint, jaws would never have been the blockbuster movie it was without him
At least he ended up giving the shark syphilis in the end!
in my mind, i'm not watching Shaw getting interviewed... i'm watching Quint getting interviewed.
