How did I miss this?! For a moment I thought it was the original shot from the movie, but upon closer inspection you recreated it all. The volumetrics and the lighting you got them looking like ILM! Keep making these man!
Thank you! It is long past time someone did this and you did it so very well. The Romulan Warbird was Star Treks best alien ship. Fun fact. The only reason the Klingon D7 modal was used in the Episode ‘The Cobermite Maneuver was that they had lost the Original Warbird modal.
I read some were one time that the TOS R. Bird Of Prey is not warp capable or I herd that in Balance of Terror. I like this recreation of the bird with the extra detail. I think the front of the engines could use more of a glow. I do like the animation. Keep up the good work.
I always bugged by the fact it had a earth Eagle drawing as it's Bird of Prey symbol? Would they not have a Native Romulan Bird used instead. I can't believe that they would have one which happened to look exactly the same as a earth bird.. even with the Idea of all beings the TOS lot happen to meet being all 2 legged 2 arms normal humanoids..
I doubt the Romulans would let one of their starships get "rusty". They do have pride in their fleet, after all. BTW: I have heard one of the Star Trek channels do an analysis of this ship, and they stated that they interpreted the line that the ship wasn't warp capable to mean it was damaged in the battle and so was not CURRENTLY warp capable. Otherwise, they could never have fought the Romulan-Federation War, nor could they have ever encountered the Enterprise. Even the Romulan blueprints show it has warp nacelles!
In Fasa's ST:TRPG the Romulan BOP light cruiser had only 150 crew, could land, and could only go warp 4&6, but that's to make it more fairer in the game movement wise though :-/
Good work, My videos are crap compare to yours... like this design, something that Earth should build that can land and take off instead of building ships in space
These ships have impulse power only - established in the show. Given the distances involved however, they must have some warp capabilities even taking into account Romulan longevity. Star Trek TMP showed us a Vulcan shuttle with a warp "sled". As Romulans and Vulcans share ancestry could the warp sled technology be common to both? There's a project for you!
This ship was build for a planned StarTrek Of Gods and Men HD version, and therefor could have had warp. Also, the bird is capable of landing on a planet, so rust could/can form, especially if they are playing the "rebels" in STOGAM. Anyway, thanks to all for commenting.
Everyone bitching and moaning about how the Rom BOP wasn't warp-capable...I'm one of the biggest canon-geeks out there, but face it - if the ship hadn't been warp-capable, Balance of Terror could never have happened. If neither side had warp, the Romulan War could never have happened! I think the best course is to simply ignore those few lines of dialogue, rather than go through all sorts of mental and narrative gymnastics to "make it fit" as was done in the Star Trek: Enterprise Romulan War novels.
Of course the Romulans have warp drive or something equivalent to it. They are after all a branch of the Vulcanes that lost contact with the home world long ago and evolved slightly differently but are still immensely intelligent, but retaining the savage and brutal ways of ancient Volcan expansionism. Their primary home star systems are Romulus and Remus (why Remus became a planet in ST Nemesis still doesn't make sense...much like the movie) a multi star system empire who started out as formidable enemies of Klingons as well as the Federation. After all they did develop cloaking technology first and shared it with the Klingon after what ever truce of cooperation they made with each other.
In a number of books some authors have tried to address this. Best result is a low warp speed carrier. It carries the warbird/BOP to a location then drops them as patrol craft .. makes perfect sense given the romulans ideas on trust. Can't defect, can't attack the homeworld, can't run .. no speed .. till the warp carrier comes and picks them back up
The music is called TWO STEPS FROM HELL - DOWN WITH THE ENTERPRISE
They've definitely stolen our designs! 😆
*tampering
Great animation! But somehow I don't see the Romulan Star Empire allowing their ships to get that rusted and worn down.
How did I miss this?! For a moment I thought it was the original shot from the movie, but upon closer inspection you recreated it all. The volumetrics and the lighting you got them looking like ILM! Keep making these man!
awesome.
what kind of surround sound system have they on board?
Tribute is okay what doesnt mean life actually sucks on this starship
How....non-Newtonian.
Long live the romulan star empire
Notice that this Star Trek Romulan Bird Of Prey looks like a U.S. Civil War era Ironclad Battleship?
why is there rust? their is no way for the ship to oxidize in space.

The rust suggests this ship is capable of atmospheric flight.
outstanding!!!!!!!
their hull would sure like some WD spray or breakcleaner even in nonoxide space. Look at that rust!
I’ll try spinning that’s a good trick
Fantastic
Nice!! Makes me wanna dance like a romulan!!!! ua-cam.com/video/nWGIU3SWIhs/v-deo.html
this is incredible... any chance of recreating the odyssey battle with the jem hadar?

Still one of my favorite ship designs.
Pretty bad ass!!
wjaspers What is name of the epic music soundtrack that you used in this video?
The music is called TWO STEPS FROM HELL - DOWN WITH THE ENTERPRISE
Beautiful. The aztec panels, the space corrosion on the hull. Can u imagine the Gal'gathong looking this good in Balance Of Terror.

Fantastic! There is an old saying from the 22nd - “Never trust a Romulan. Never turn your back on one.”
Good work, My videos are crap compare to yours... like this design, something that Earth should build that can land and take off instead of building ships in space
Love the way you've textured the Romulan war bird.
Lightweight .
Wil, desperately trying to get in touch with you, any chance you can reach out to me, on Facebook if possible. Thanks
this ship has defiantly seen action.
I have seen space freighters fly/fight much better then Romulan Bird of Prey.
I believe the Klingons had the Bird of Prey. The Romulans had the Warbird
I’m pretty sure the impulse engines are at the rear end of the warp nacelles on the Romulan BoP
music?
Siniša Kragulj 2 years ago I honestly don't know. Does anybody else out there know what's the name of the EPIC background music used in this video?
The music is called TWO STEPS FROM HELL - DOWN WITH THE ENTERPRISE

LONG LIVE THE ROMULAN STAR EMPIRE
I'm confused. I've always called that a warbird. Birds of prey were a very different animal --at least to my memory.
@ William West. War Bird in TNG. Bird Of Prey in TOS (Romulan)
why is it spinning

Thank you for explaining the rust, did you make sure the rust patterns did not extend over the hull plate sections that move to extend landing gear?

Christopher Nuzzi I agree

Yeah I like to take that line that they are sub-light while cloaking

I leave behind the technicalities and just ENJOY the show😏
Ever wonder why early Romulan ships had warp nacelles? They didn't have warp technology.
according to tos, this particular ship did not have warp and only impulse.
Are those three landing pads/struts on the bottom?
Sure look like that's what they'd be there for in that triangular setup.
That's the idea behind those triangles on the bottom of the TOS Enterprise. The 2 triangles and whatever is hidden by the neck connection.
DAMN!!!! Absolutely magnificent!!!!
Love it, music and all. A closer look
Granted my science is a little shaky but isn't oxygen required for rust to form ? Looks damn good but I had to ask .
She's capable of planetary landings so yes rust is possible
Ya, I was going to say that she looks capable of atmospheric flight... and there's clearly hatches for landing gear.
STNeish Yes needs a respray - outstanding work mind.
There is particals of o2 in space.
Your assuming that she was constructed from ferris metal, and there are other things could cause corosion in space
