Patina Garage
Australia
Приєднався 8 чер 2024
Simply, I’m just a bloke who enjoys cars. There is no fancy sheds, I don’t have all the tools and my main workspace is in the elements just like most of you. Follow my journey and be a part of the discovery for each vehicle introduced on the channel. I’ll be doing my best to learn the history of each one and will tell their stories within the uploads. Names will be given to the vehicles and mistakes will be made but learning and self growth are at this channels core. The name Patina Garage gives a good idea of the content expected but some shiny stuff will appear from time to time. Buckle up and enjoy my UA-cam journey.

Well, story goes like this. - Vehicle mentioned by a mate. - Market place link sent. - Immediate interest. - Drive 1.5hrs to ‘inspect’. - Next minute money is exchanged, I’m loading it up and driving home. - Now thinking of the consequences. - I survived, but someone isn’t pleased. - I have a new car. :)
Love the Le but like the original honeycombs on it
@@wayne1964 Cheers mate. I still have them but the paint is a bit cracked. Only use them occasionally to keep them in as good as I can condition. I’ll have them on it when I do the vehicle ‘review’ upload. Thanks for watching, it’s appreciated.
Not saying anything as it was in 77 so its most likely in a hundred bits days later.
@@troutchaser7424 Good chance it’s spread across all states by name. How irritating. Cheers mate.
I had a mate that had one and parked it at the Melb Airport for a couple of days and when he got back it was gone. It was that color.
@@troutchaser7424 Hey mate. Damn, that’s a shame. Basically all LE’s left the factory in this colour. They all looked the same except for a couple options like vinyl roof and sunroof. Thanks for watching, it’s much appreciated.
i have a steel commemorative lunch box for this car
@@CLAWCUZBRO Hey mate. That’s awesome. I have seen them in the past but don’t have one myself. Thanks for watching, it’s appreciated.
Beautiful car. You didn’t really see them around in the 80s. Plenty of HK, G, T If you ever did see one. It was in a shed under lock and key. If you seen one in a car yard it was pretty much sold all ready. A real Gem that model coupe.
@@gibbzy480 Cheers mate. It wasn’t what I was after at the time, was chasing a HQ, I got sick of looking for cars, this came up and I was like stuff it, this will do. Honestly glad I made the decision these days. Pretty much all of the modern creature comforts came standard on these. Thanks for watching mate and sharing your thoughts on them, it’s appreciated.

Nice tastefull mods. Cool car. FYI: If you would like to make it look more stock they make adaptors for the VN heads to run the old H series rocker covers if you want to hide that 355 stroker. cheers Stew.
Hey mate. Thanks for letting me know, I’ll have a look for them and see what I reckon. I hadn’t given much thought on them to be honest but now you say it, you have me thinking. Haha. Cheers for tuning in to the channel, it’s appreciated.

Hot at idle is airflow through radiator fan coupling or need fans pushing through the condensor, that got hotter at idle new

Just buy some king sized bed sheets, dust problem over.
@@stevengriffin7873 Cheers mate. Had always been told not to use car covers as they can scratch the paint, sheets might be the answer. Thanks for watching.
old cotton fitted bed sheets as car cover , keep the dust off
@@t590-j3z Not a bad idea mate. Have always been told car covers scratch cars but an old sheet is probably light enough to get away with it. Thanks for watching.
If it's a coupe it's a monaro 👍👍
@@rossdingle6236 I’m with you mate. Have cultured myself to call it a coupe to save on the arguments over the years. Cheers for watching, it’s appreciated. 👍
What is that stupid back wing on it for, that is not original🤣 I had a 1973 HQ Monaro 350 GTS silver with the orange stripes and that looked sensational STOCK, take that ugly thing off the back, DONT spoil the beautiful design of this Monaro coupe!
@@steven.yuliagenat3069 Hey mate. The rear wing is 100% factory on a HX Limited Edition which is what this car is, it’s not a HQ. There will be an overview upload on the car in the coming months to explain more about them. Thanks for watching, it’s appreciated.
They were called a rear spoiler.
@@Justin-hb6cg Cheers mate.
IMHO , the spoilers have to go back to the 80’s where they belong ! The bums on coupes are beautiful and are ruined by cheap fibreglass . And the front chin spoiler belongs at a carpark where they all catch and crack . Looking forward to the playlist 👁️👁️
@@badstimpy Hey mate. I know what you mean. The front and rear spoilers took a little to grow on me but I can’t imagine this car without them now. @@PatinaGarage1. Keep the spoilers. The original wheels even suit the L.E.
@@Justin-hb6cg That’s it mate. They won’t be going anywhere. The Honeycombs do suit it. Mine are a bit cracked so only get used occasionally. Cheers mate.

Don’t get caught with no fuel eneric on the cam shaft efi cams don’t come with a long enough dowel to locate it
@@leonwilliams8523 Cheers mate. Yeah, that’s why I have the timing cover pulled off them. Wanted to see what was going on in there. Hoping I can take the dowel out of the old cam and use it in the new one. Then I can use the eccentric off it too. 🤞 All hopes and dreams at the moment. Keep the help coming as I’m a complete novice but having a crack. Thanks for watching, it’s appreciated.
Yeah, that’s just tin shed life. Short of sealing up every crack (and thus creating a hot box, unless you want to run an aircon 24/7) dust is just par for the course. A jet wash and a good wax will have it looking mint.
BTW, didn’t see the 355 coming. I had either a 350 or LS in my head (kinda glad you didn’t go LS, kinda done to death)
@@MrLurchsThings Cheers mate, and I’m pleased to have surprised you. 😄 The old 355 has always been the plan. Want to keep it all as ‘factory’ as possible. A healthy 355 makes a cracking cruiser. People get all butt hurt when they see it dirty, damn impossible to keep them clean in sheds as you know by the sounds. It will be getting a better place to stay parked up in the next few months all going to plan. Thanks for watching mate, I appreciate it.
Had 2 of these lined up to buy in 2001 but things changed. Still think about missing out. Good vid mate

Nice coupe check the dowel in the cam is long enough for the mechanical fuel pump drive it can be short on vn type cams

@PatinaGarage1 great troubleshooting considering you're not a mechanic. I still got those stock carby you got there. It's a tall order to get the some parts for that here locally except the engine I e. dashboard, doors, ceiling etc.
@@kaisermark3462 cheers mate. I just like tinkering. I haven’t looked for parts yet but once I decide what I’m doing with it I’ll realise the difficulty at that point. Haha. More to come on this one for sure just not certain what the path will be.
Yes!! Of course it will run, all YT videos that ask this same question…they always run. Come up with a new gimmick mate.
Hey mate. They don’t all turn out this way. I’ve got my hands full learning everything else that goes along with doing this so I’m ok with following the crowd until I improve. I have other content and In the next few uploads I’ll be stating a build series along with other types of automotive content. As for another gimmick I have one in the wings but I’m not ready for it yet. To get this far you must have watched some of it so thanks for that.
Haha, why did you click on the title if your sick of watching "will it run" videos? Unlike the mainstream big channels with unlimited budget, the smaller channels actually have to diagnose and fix any issues, and I can guarantee that he would have posted the video if it didn't run, I guess it's the journey of testing which is interesting, not turning a key on a car
Spot on. The big channels give an outlet for the smaller fish to jump on with title search etc. for me it’s too much time wasted messing around with this when doing content part time to not upload it. If old mate watched it all the way through there is a few learnings which could be taken out of it in the fault finding process. Cheers mate.

Yeah, mate I’m not a mechanic but I know that if it was going to run at all that head gasket would work well enough to make it move which is all I wanted. Wasn’t going to spend money on a motor which I didn’t know would even fire. Cheers
Just pull the engine, and work it on the bench.
Wasn’t that concerned about it mate. Not likely to use the motor moving forward.
