PALEO-Formation
Приєднався 9 січ 2024
Hello everyone and welcome to my new and improved channel. You might also know me by my previous channels - Prehistoric Tank Studios and PALEO-Formations.
(Unfortunately due to a technical issue these channels were deleted from UA-cam so I am now trying to reinstate as much content)
On this third channel with the updated and improved videos I created, you’ll get to experience a great diversity of prehistoric formations back to the Cenozoic, Mesozoic & Paleozoic.
The paleoart featured in the slideshows doesn’t belong to me but I’ll give full credit to the owners in the end credits and links in the description below ⬇️

Amazin animal java ❤❤❤❤
Amazin dinosaur 🦖🦕
when are you gonna post the other formations, the old video was a good resource, can you at least list the old ones down.
where”s the postosuchus
Fantastic dinosaur❤❤❤
Next I want shungura formation
Your forget galvesaurus
That sauropod comes from another older dated formation in Spain (Upper Jurassic - Villar del Arzobispo Fm).
You forget rugocaudia
The genus is said to be a nomen dubium (doubtful name) due to fragmentary remains.
Please mongolian dinosaurus
Good video about the fauna of Maevarano, one of the most interesting formations of the Mesozoic
nice
Congratulations on the update for the Maevarano formation! Hopefully the Cerro del Pueblo formation comes next soon after this. 🇲🇽🤠🏜🏞🦕🦖🦤🦣
Next: Urumaco
Maevarano Fm. Period: Upper Cretaceous 72-66 mya (Maastrichtian stage). Locality: Madagascar (Mahajanga Basin). Fauna: Majungasaurus, Rapetosaurus, Simosuchus & Beelzebufo. Notes: Fossilized teeth recovered from the formation are said to be from an indeterminate Thyreophoran of some sort. At first the teeth were previously thought to be from a species of Stegosaur (s. madagascariensis), or perhaps from an undescribed genus of Gondwanan Ankylosaur from the clade Parakylosauria. It’s a possibility Cretaceous Madagascar had its own Parankylosaur while other Gondwanan continents (which were once connected) like South America (Stegouros & Patagopelta), Antarctica (Antarctopelta) and Australia (Kunbarrasaurus) had their own. Besides terrestrial and semiaquatic animals, material (mainly of jawbones, toothplates, teeth, vertebrae & scales) of bony fish (Osteichthyans) have been recovered from the Mahajanga basin of Maevarano. Most fossils are from ray-finned fish (Actinopterygians). Unfortunately, some of the fish are currently indeterminate and not well described so I decided to stick with the better known inhabitants. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maevarano_Formation#Osteichthyes Within Mahajanga, fossilized burrows that were believed to have been made by ancient aestivating lungfish were found and date back to the Maastrichtian stage. The specific type that made those burrows is currently unknown (possibly ceratodus), being referred to the lungfish class as “Dipnoi indet”. pubs.geoscienceworld.org/sepm/palaios/article-abstract/27/12/857/146230/LUNGFISH-BURROWS-FROM-THE-UPPER-CRETACEOUS Although there’s currently no postcranial material of vintana, its 12-13cm skull shows it grew relatively large perhaps close to a metre. If so, it would’ve greatly surpassed the carnivorous Gobiconodon and rivalled other sizeable Mesozoic mammals like Repenomamus from China (r. giganticus) and Didelphodon from North America. x.com/JoschuaKnuppe/status/1255831215409631232 The skull of Adalatherium is decently big at about 8.4cm, however the specimen belongs to an immature individual and probably grew somewhere close to its contemporary cousin when fully grown. www.dmns.org/media/7539/adalatherium-fact-sheet.pdf
Madagascar Please!!!
Next do the two medicine formation please lol
Excellent presentation
Um excuse me i was wandering if you can do a video about the Kitadani Formation if you have the time to make that of course
👍
Great video. Interesting topic
nice
Nice video about Pleistocene fauna of Java
very nice video. could you do something for Pleistocene Brazil or any other country in South America.
Sure, that place was loaded with megafauna at that time👍
Don't abandon Mesozoic, comrade
INFO: Sometime during the early and late Pleistocene epoch when sea levels were lower than today, Sundaland at the time was a great landmass with a mix of habitats from forests, open woodlands and grasslands and was connected to the Asian mainland. After Sundaland was submerged, all that remained above sea level were the islands we know of today such as Sumatra, Borneo, Java and Bali. Most animals adapted to these changes by downsizing (insular dwarfism). Unfortunate species like sabre cats, stegodon & homo erectus perished, leaving no modern descendants. Other sorts of fauna known from fossils (extinct + extant) found in Java, include fellow Carnivora (leopards, dholes, sun bears & otters) Perrisodactyls (Malayan tapirs & two species of rhinos) artiodactyls (bovids, cervids & suids) primates (orangutans, macaques & langurs) birds, reptiles and many more in this lost world. There were also two species of the early hominin homo erectus, Java man (Homo e. erectus) and the younger Solo man (Homo e. soloensis). The latter species perhaps being a descendant of the former. The size estimates for the canid megacyon and sabre cat hemimachairodus are heavily speculative. From what I’ve gathered, the weight of megacyon (52kg) is said to be comparable to that of a modern gray wolf. The estimated weight for hemimachairodus (130kg) is roughly close to a large jaguar, despite there being no postcranial material found of it with only bits of the cats’ skull known. The Javan homotherium is estimated at 154kg, which is heavier than an average lioness. Additional Finds: In a site called Kali Gedeh - East Java, the remains of a partial skull and mandible said to belong to a large species of crocodile (Crocodylus sp) where uncovered. The mandible (lower jaw) of this individual reaches slightly over a metre in length, suggesting a total size around 6-7m (20-23 feet). Its been thought to be synonymous with the Siamese crocodile (Crocodylus Siamensis), however more material is needed to conclude this. www.deviantart.com/metasuchus/art/Huge-Crocodylus-skull-from-Pleistocene-of-Java-975214891 pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/24673759/ An unnamed species of the giant tortoise Megalochelys was discovered in the Bumiayu area - Central Java.
For this time I can say I've walked over Camarillas formation rocks
Hi there, i was just wondering if there was any past videos that you made because i remember that you had more or im just tweaking
Hi, unfortunately there were some slight technical issues going on which unfortunately ended up deleting both previous channels in the process.
do lufeng formation
❤
Chinle Formation Period: Upper Triassic 227-208 mya (Norian-Rhaetian stage) Locality: Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada - North America 🇺🇸 Inhabitants: Smilosuchus, Vivaron, Desmatosuchus, Coelophysis.
And everything is lovely once again
I have a question do you takes breaks while finishing or while making a video since i know you work very hard making these videos
It’s usually a short break between each vid I produce, although it usually depends on if I’ve got time or the mood for it. I’m currently close to finishing part 2.
really cool
nice
Next formation dinosaur park
and then after that hațeg island
Chinle Formation Period: Upper Triassic 227-201.4 mya (Norian-Rhaetian stage) Locality: Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada - North America 🇺🇸 Inhabitants: Placerias, Vancleavea, Anaschisma, Chinlea. Notes: The shark-like Xenacanth, Xenacanthus was originally thought to have existed from the Carboniferous-Triassic era, however supposed species dating from the Triassic have been moved to another genus called Mooreodontus in 2010. Specifically M. Moorei known mostly from the Blue Mesa member of Chinle (unfortunately wiki didn't seem to update that). I’m fully aware the restoration I’m using is of Xenacanthus, but since both types are members of the Xenacanthid family, it’s most probable that Mooreodontus looked something alike.
Can you make one gor the plottier formation?
No more videos? :(
No worries, I took a bit of time off. There’s a two part formation video coming soon.
So glad your back, love the videos
Nice intro
What will happen to all the old videos that got deleted?
do you have the file for the old videos? its hard waiting so long for a specific formation. i forgot the name it was one of your old ones.
Not anymore, cause the vids and edits are outdated at this point.
@@PrehistoricTankStudiosPrehisto do you have the names at least?
i wonder if you can do the Chinle Formation if you have the time for making that of cours. after all im a very patient person
Where “New Blood” took place, yep 🌟
It's amazing that almost one week after this video was released a New species of Mosasaur was described Khinjaria acuta.
this was very informative smashed the like
Great presentation. ❤
nice
