I was born with arms not fully developed, but with amazing family and friends I’ve been able to overcome so many obstacles.
I plan on documenting my latest challenge to tackle which is learning how to ride an electric unicycle at age 49. It’s definitely not as easy to pick up add the Onewheel, but I’m just getting started!
Wish me luck and check back from time to time to see if I’m making progress.

Finally got video of me riding my electric unicycle. Big thanks to @CooperLee-1 for the awesome film footage. I have about 550 miles total EUC riding. I’m proof anything is possible with a little pain, determination and hard work!! Things i CAN do without arms(well kinda arms) or help help: 1. I can load the EUC into my car 2. Get geared up. (A lot of strings and gadgets created for this one)...

This was the first time I’ve driven in main roads. Staying in the bike lane until I can get up to the speed of traffic.

Finally figured out a way load my EUC into the car. Drove to a local greenway here in Nashville for a 27 mile ride. Here’s the first half.
EUC Cruise through the neighborhood on 6/9/24.

Quick sunset ride through the hills of my neighborhood. It’s playing at x2.5 speed for a shorter video, since I don’t have all the fancy recording equipment. I used 10% battery but with the downhill only lost 4%. You can see the battery percentage going down a couple then back up.
Short EUC evening ride 5/29/24

It’s been a while since I’ve uploaded any videos. I’m getting way more comfortable on the V4. As a teacher in summer break, I also have more time to practice. This ride turned into a group ride as my daughter joined for a few trips up and down the street. (Ignore the trashcan)

👍👍👍
dope video!!
dope!
Oh snap! I've gotta catch up!!!!
Pretty ride..... especially now autumn (fall) is with you in Tennessee too. Ride safe--Rick-the-Brit!
Hey thanks. We have had a dry fall. Not the best color changes but decent enough to enjoy the ride.
Stay safe out there
Yes sir!! Doing my best
nice man !
Thanks!!
Dude, you are flying through those trails!! awesome vid!! 👍👍👍
Thanks man, I’m trying. Working on getting off the paved paths and maybe on more trails if I can find them. There are a few mtb trails around but I’m not sure about them yet.
Amazing man! Solid riding :)
Hey, thanks! I’m working in it!!
Good to see you riding Steve. Looking good and at a nice pace too. Weather has broken here in Portugal - fall has well and truly hit us here ---- so you have weather bragging rights I think. Looking forward to your next video. Rick
Hey thanks for the comment and coming back to check out another video. I have been super busy and finally got to ride again. It’s been a couple weeks. I do feel like I can ride at a good pace finally. Still not ready to race but gaining confidence with each ride.
You got us speeding behind the popo!!!
I did. My camera recording interval cut off before he pulled over to let us pass.
Another nice ride video. I'm guessing from your 'ghost rider' (shadow) - that you too use a Pidzoom mirror ?... perfect for EUC riding. Enjoy the dirt trails!
I do. I like the pidzoom mirror but the L shaped ball mounts are terrible and restrict the arm movements. They send two L shape and one straight mount. The one that’s not L shaped is awesome!! Wish all three mounts were like that.
Totally agree ...the L-shape is next to useless as the restricted movement this creates doesn't work when mounting on the helmet side. I used the straight one mounted on my sun-visor for more rotational movement, but mounted on the visor I get vibration issues but not too much. Still like it though. I'll just 3D-print more straight ones if I need to. Catch you after your next ride!! Rick
@RickBarford I emailed to see if I could get a couple more of the straight mounts because of the L shaped issues. They said I could order a whole new set. That would give me 2 more L shape and 1 more straight mounts. Not very helpful!! But I do love the mirrors. Way better than the Amazon one I used before.
That was definitely a steep hill climb. You know I'm going to have to go back and conquer that mountain!
Yes sir!
👍 nice edit, nice day!
Thanks!!
Makes me want to ride right now
Yes!
👍👍👍
nice!!
Nice ... so green and great trails you have over yonder. Still envious!
Yes sir!! Makes it easier to get in 25-30 miles with such nice scenery.
Nice ride Steve! Those are some beautiful trails you got there.
They are really nice tails. The city just replaced some portions of it. Can’t wait until the fall colors set in. Saturday was great weather. Mid 70s and a nice breeze blowing.
ok Steve ... looking better each video. We Brits have a saying ... (not sure if you have the same saying on your side of The Pond ?) .... " it's better to be safe, than sorry!" ... cycle lanes and quiet roads are logical. Stay safe! ..... Rick-The-Brit.
Yes sir!! Trying to stay safe. Especially trying to take it easy in traffic with no long arms for turn signaling!😂
👍👍👍
Nice ridin' Steve! Looks like you had some great weather. Your mom looked suprised but impressed. Cheers!
Yes it was a really nice day. It’s been so hot recently up around 100. Yesterday we got some much needed rain that left us with a cooler day. Mom was shocked but I told her I was going to ride over there one day. Finally got the confidence to go for it.
👍👍👍
👍👍👍
Nice ride. Hardly anyone around ...just perfect for a chill ride. Hot here too right now. Rick-the-Brit
It’s hot here too. Supposed to be up around 100 degrees Fahrenheit this week, and we usually humidity to make it worse.
Lookin' good!!
Thanks!! Will have to get back out and ride some more in the next couple weeks. Especially one we get past the 98 degree temps this week.
Cool man! Nice views and good riding. Cheers!
Thanks! I’m trying to get out and ride more. I’m getting the hang of it a lot better recently. I still check in on your videos for helpful tips so keep doing what you’re doing!!
You turn well !!!
Thanks.
👍👍👍
👋👋👋
Man, you are doing awesome! you don't give up!! 👏 - Steve how long have you been riding now??
Hey I’m terrible at seeing comments and responding. My bad! I got the Master V4 back in Dec. It was too cold and too heavy. So I ordered an Inmotion V5 from Amazon for cheap to learn on. Started really trying in Feb/March. After 19 miles of learning on the V5 I went back to the Begode.
👍👍👍
Steve ---hi again from Portugal. Nice chill ride and nice music overlay. For some reason, got to see your Part 2 before this Part 1. Still envious of your "green-and-pleasant-land" !! Keep-on-keeping-on Rick-the Brit in The Algarve
Thanks man!! It is a nice relaxing path. Haven’t done busy streets riding yet but I’m gradually improving. Not breaking the speed of sound or anything yet but getting up around 30mph.
Steve! .....good to see you back with another ride post. I still can't get over how lush the greenery is in Tennessee at this time of year. Envious!. I see you are on a group ride! ---- again, envious --- I retired here in The Algarve, Portugal and seem to be the only EUC rider in this part of the world --- a group ride would be nice. You seem -from the video - a little more flowing in your riding, so I'm guessing you have progressed quite a bit ?. Looking forward to you next post. Rick--the-Brit form a hot and very dry, everything brown and died-back Portugal!! 🥵
Great stuff!
Thanks for checking back in with me. I’m not a big video talker so just crossing around. Always my vantage point until I get a good way to mount a selfie stick to the wheel since it’s a struggle to carry.
Right on brother, you'll get it. I'm getting used to mine have about 100mi on mine and loving every time I take it out! Best thing to take to heart is always push yourself a little more everyday but not too much, mistakes will be made lol. Now only if this damn rain would hold off for the weekend so I can ride :D
I'm Envious -- a nice chill-ride in the plush green that you seem to have aplenty there in Tennessee mid-summer -- that is one of the things I do miss about the UK, now I have settled here in Portugal. Good to see you on quite a long ride ..... no vehicular traffic to complicate things -- ah the tranquility! Part two? when?
Hey thanks for watching. It is a great peaceful place to ride. I used to ride My onewheel here a lot. It was lighter and more mobile for me, but the trails are longer than my pint-x battery. Part two might have to be the next time I get out there. Tried to get a different view and it wasn’t good footage. I’m new to euc and this video stuff too. 😂😬
Steve, Hi from Portugal where we are now retired. I Like the neighbourhood tour -- it reminds me a lot of our time in The States, where we lived for over 10 years before retiring So, where roughly is your neighbourhood? As an Applied Research Chemist, we lived or a few years near Sacramento Ca, followed by a few more years in The Woodlands, Texas - before our final 3 years in Washington State. We're Brits, but your video looks a lot like our final neighbourhood in Washington (up next to Lake Whatcom) . It looks like you're getting on well after only a few months in. It took me longer to get up the courage to venture out onto the roads here - i preferred off-road to build skills, before getting enough 'bottle' (as we Brits say) to hit the streets! keep the videos coming, I'll be watching y'alll! Rick
Hey I live near Nashville Tennessee. I’m doing pretty good I guess after a few months. i learned in the grass but we don’t really have many trails near me. I rode a Onewheel for over a year, so I think that helped a little with learning the euc. I’m finally getting more time to ride. I am a high school math teacher and we are now in summer break! I haven’t gotten out on any main rides yet. Still only doing neighborhood rides. We have a few long greenway paths to ride but I’ve ridden those on my Onewheel. Thanks for checking out my videos. It’s my a way to document the progress. Me holding my phone is all I’m using for the videos as of now.
@@Delko-615 Ah, lucky you -- you get to live in the heart of bluegrass and country music! I have a love for bluegrass and Irish music - not so much country music and my wife and I once went on a pilgrimage to The Grand Ole Opry. ..... so, we have been in your vicinity. I discovered Jerry Douglas through "Alison Kraus and Union Station" bluegrass and was inspired enough by his playing to learn to play the Dobro......which is currently only a few feet away from where I now sit. I'm also a bit of an American football fan -- following The Houston Texans, however just for today I say "Go Titans"! Ride safe Rick
That is cool. Thanks for the Go Titans shout out.
btw ..... 29th May video -- can't ignore the trash can ....it's obviously the star!!!
Haha I know! I should pick a non-trash day next time!! 😂 I don’t know the comments were off on that one. This is all so bye to me. I’m sure I clicked something I shouldn’t have! Thanks for the view and comment. It’s a master V4 that I’m on.
Just watched your 29th May video -- which seems to have comments disabled --- so went back to this one. Inspiring! That also looks like a big wheel? I ride a Kingsong S22 Pro and that is plenty big enough for me!
Way to go Steve! Respect!!
Thanks. It’s starting to click for me finally! Time to throw in more great and keep it moving.
That's seriously impressive!
Thank you!
Dude, that's awesome! :) Soon u will be riding like a pro.
Thanks!! I don’t know about all that but I’m gonna do my best!!
Getting it Steve! How does it feel on the new bigger wheel?
I think I like the feel of the bigger wheel better. I’ve been riding it in the grass. The street is much easier. I am also moving my pads around to see what feels best. I’m only going 10-15 mph but I’ll gradually pick up speed and wear more protective gear for that as well.
Awe yeah! Coming along nicely. Good job buddy. Cheers!
Appreciate you! Gotta find more time to get out there with steady practice.
Looking good! I would like to learn how to ride, and hope to do as well as you do.
I got this wheel from Amazon for about $300. Much cheaper than the big wheels and lighter to learn on. Started in the grass and falling a lot. I have a much larger wheel that I’m hoping to switch too soon. If I learned you can as well.
@@Delko-615 Thanks for the encouragement. I have been scouting for flat publicly-accessible grassy parks with few people around to collide with. I have also been studying people's UA-cam reviews of various wheels. It's great when people share their product experiences and opinions. Hoping you have many positive and enjoyable rides in your future.
Keep riding you will be comfortable about a month or two, Cheers.
Thanks!!
Awe yeah! Your mount and dismount are looking good. What wheel is that?
Thanks. Slow and steady! It’s an old Inmotion V5 I found on Amazon for about $300. When I lose balance I only have my legs to catch the wheel or let it crash. I needed something light (25-30lb) for that instead of my 93lb Master.
Post more videos of your progress🤙
You’re doing good. Time for the master😊😊😊
I’m a teacher so not always a lot of practice time. I’m thinking that spring break will be time to break out the master!! Thanks for checking in on me.
Which wheel is this?
