Thank you for the video! I have a question about the Manual test type. What is the internal difference between the Manual and Generic test types? Is the following process correct? Create tests (with steps) and link them to the requirements. Create a test plan and add all the tests to the test plan. Add test executions to the test plan, where we can then track the test results. I’ve used the Generic test type before but haven’t worked with the Manual type. Could you please explain the key differences briefly?

Hi. I am a test manager in an agile program where the testers create test cases from their user stories. If the testers execute their test cases using executions on the test cases, i cannot see the result in test plans, where i have added the test cases. Do i have to add the test executions created by the user or should we add all test cases to the test plan and create a test execution on the test plan instead ? please advice on the right approach to this.

Thanks for a good video. I found out that there is a huge difference between Xray Cloud and Server versions. In cloud, you are very limited in JQL construction, so you cannot create advanced filters by using JQL. You are also limited on certain gadgets in Jira dashboard, e.g. you cannot create a widget with expandable views of issues. We needed to see the coverage of Epics and underlying user stories, and this can be done in the server version, but not in cloud.

In another statement, you said if we do not define any filter then all tests of the specific project will be displayed. Small correction about Sub Test executions. These don't sit under a test, but under the requirement itself, making them available to show on the Agile board that the requirement belongs to. This also allows changing the workflow for the requirement's issue type, e.g. to enforce that the Sub Test Execution must be closed before the requirement itself can also be closed.
