Lawrence Welk Show - Love Songs - Season 25, Episode 21 - February 9, 1980 - with some commercials

This program has a lot of ghosting in the picture. Baltimore City didn't have cable at that time and we had a lot of tall buildings around us. I used to record Lawrence Welk back in the late 70's and 80's. I converted the VHS tapes to DVD's about 20 years ago.

Great interpretation of What I Did For Love, Cathy. As any Mexican sailor would put it, "Sea Sea Senora!!!".
Taka u Geritol like u ol' friend Lawrence, For That Wunnerful, WUNNERFUL Feeling!
You may stay up nights over Myron, but you can't beat his mean accordion! He can PLAY to say the least!
Jo Ann Castle blew her reputation with the Lawrence Welk Show out of her own dark doings. Sad on account of you wouldn't think seeing her at the piano.
Myron still makes my nightmares!
An incredible interview and performance by Bruno.
I agree. I remember my brother telling me that the whole feud between Bruno and Larry was Bruno's idea and Vince's father was all for it. Rob
Thanks for the upload
Many thanks! Hope you are doing well.
@ thanks, same to you
Poor henry cuesta jr only had about 6 more years of life as he was murdered at work during his teens ☹️
I often think about this when I watch this program. This was a sad event -- and I never remember even hearing about it on the news -- until I read it on line many years later. Thanks for posting this.
You got that Andre The Dummy, Bruno Sarmatina, Dirty Rhodes?
Bob Backland with yet another of his boringly lame interviews. Compare his to Ernie Ladd's...
Hey, he sad 'The Sumoens" lol
Thanks for this wonderful Lawrence Welk Show video. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and yours and to everyone else who is watching. ❤
Many thanks -- and same to you!
0:32 - "Sing" From Sesame Street
Many thanks!
Ty?
Tim Cook?
That's very beautiful, Tom.
There are some interruptions in the screen. I can see little blasts of electricity distorting the screen. At the same time as the distortion, I get painful electric shocks all over my body.
At that time, we did not have cable in Baltimore. Washington was a distant station with a lot of interference when cars would go by.
I received a large, painful shock to my abdomen at the same time as I saw a huge video interruption on the screen. It was like a jolt of electricity.
We got a lot of interference with over the air television on channel 5 -- every time a car would go by, or there was lightning etc.
Do you have The Merv Griffin Show?
I really don't -- the only Merv Griffin I have is when the recorder was left on after Lawrence Welk and the beginning of Merv Griffin was recorded. I am sorry. But I did enjoy watching Merv Griffin.
Very good friends . Backlund was very grateful for the tips Patra gave him when he was new in WWF. They kept in contact for decades after their wrestling careers.
Thanks for your comment. I will pass this along to my brother who lets me post some of his interviews.
The 1979 New Year's Eve show might had featured one of the songs from the '70s, the Captain & Tenille's "Love Will Keep Us Together", performed by the Aldridge Sisters with Gail Farrell and Mary Lou Metzger, who may had subbed for the Otwell Twins, who I think were absent from the show that week. Also, in response to Laverne and Shirlie singing "Rock & Roll Is Here To Stay" in those sexy gold jumpsuits in the "4th Annual Shotz Talent Show" episode, the Welk female quartet may had worn similar outfits, along with thick white scarfs around their necks!
The orchestra played that -- am I correct? -- or do I have my episodes mixed up. I remember Bob Schmale having a piano solo in the version I am thinking of.
That was when the show saluted chart-topping hits by famous groups a month later, January 26, 1980, and, I believe, September 26, 1981 on the salute to gold record hits!
You are right -- I think the Aldrich sisters and the Otwell twins sang it.
I could listen to Heidi Holt play the piano for hours.
She plays wonderful. I think on one of the Christmas episodes it was said that Bob Schmale wrote her piano arrangements.
It's now on rebroadcast over OETA network, via PBS.
Oh, I wish that our PBS stations in Maryland would still pick up the program, but they do not.
@@RobertGundlachMusic OETA stands for Oklahoma Educational Television Authority, owners of "Lawrence Welk Show" reruns, which contain 44 minutes of content plus 12 minutes of interspersed content from other episodes.
A high quality rendering family song , dance and extreme costume with Apropos sets. Kenxqed Banjo ❤
GOOD morning God bless always ❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉❤. 🎉
Many thanks.
Great show, thank you
Many thanks. I am so glad I saved these programs.
Bruno did pay everyone off
Is that true?
He used "Dirty Yard Dog" more than once??? It WASN'T an accident in 1987?!?
My brother said he was teaming with the junk yard dogs?? but he didn't have an answer really.
Twenty-five years ago, when he was dying of lung cancer, my father spent hours watching tapes of Lawrence Welk's shows. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing. I had the same type of experience. My mother with advanced dementia usually would just stare while we were watching TV, but when we put these old recordings of Lawrence Welk on, we would see her feet tapping along with the music.
Does Jimmy V let one go at the 42 second mark?
I will have to ask my brother about this. He is the one who let's be post some of his old interviews.
Tony Atlas is far more articulate today than he was back then😐
Agreed.
Great show, thanks
Many thanks. I am so glad that I saved these programs.
My parents watched this show every weekend, along with Hee Haw, for years. A part of my childhood.
Growing up in the 60's and 70's was a wonderful time.
Hogan foreshadowed his future
True.
You knew it was serious when they went to the empty arena interview. It want to say that's the old Aggie Hall, in Allentown, PA.
Was that in a shopping center?
Does anyone know where this show was taped? The studio is so tiny, was not at the regular ABC studio most commonly used.
It was taped at ABC, but as you say not at their normal studio.
Every time I watch this program, I ask the same question. I tried to look on Wikipedia -- and it did list several locations where it was taped through the years -- but I could not find anything about this program.
I laughed my ass of once Ivan started singing! I love it!
He was very popular at the Baltimore Civic Center.
Just the thing I needed for background while finishing up my workday! Thanks!
Thanks!
Glory to God
Always!
So many toe tapping tunes! Thanks for the upload!
Thank You!
I like seeing Sissy White Lace Panties... Made my week growing up...

Thanks for the memories Bob , and Happy Holidays
Many thanks!
Thanks for the upload
I thought it might be a more complete recording. Sorry.
@ it’s still a great show
Always loved when they sang Disney songs! Thanks for another great upload!
Many thanks!
Thanks for the upload
Love seeing Larry Hooper perform! Thanks for uploading this and keeping the show alive!
Thanks for your kind comments. I love watching the "real old" Lawrence Welk Shows from the 1950's where Larry Hooper was one of the orchestra's piano players in addition to singing. Rob
Have you ever had the chance to find Songs From The Classics from Season 27 before?
Hi Jeffrey -- I am positive that I do not have that episode. Still looking for Disneyland.
@@RobertGundlachMusic ok sounds good
Thanks for the upload
Lawrence Welk: Well, friends, our time is up! Thank you all so very, very much for letting us entertain for you! May we have you with us again next week, for an hour of Halloween hijinks! Keep a song in your heart, and have a wonderful, wonderful week!
It was like listening to an "old friend" all of the time.
I've got this complete show from 4/11/81 with all commercials 🙂
Do you have it uploaded anywhere? I would love to see the entire program from your area with the commercials. I wouldn't copy it -- I would just love to see it.
