I bought my first pair of 877''s in 1975 and had them until 2013. Resoled 3 times in 38 years. They finally gave up. It was hard to let em go. Got myself a new pair. I"m set for life.
Filson gear is design to when you tear it in some area you can still wear it with pride! its not trash like a few have said and I dont know of any other gear that I own that I cant wait for it to tear a little... A torn Filson anything is awsome.
For some reason this video made me think of Cast Away... Except instead of a volley ball floating away it's his jacket.. "Filson, I'm sorry!!! I'm sorry, Filson... FILSON!!!"
People who haven't felt this material just dont understand. The price reflects how strong they are. Walk right through blackberries like they aren't even there.
Stumbled upon this video today. Wow, can’t get a better real world review than this one. Thanks for your video. I could sit at the campfire and talk stories about that jacket alone for an hour!😂 well done!
Hello Mr Barnden, from your experience with the Filson double tin pants, this tin cloth material let heavy rain pass through or is it really waterproof ? Thanks !
Hello Mr Barnden, from your experience with tin cloth, is this material really waterproof ? (meaning, it can ensure to stay dry in despite of heavy rain) thanks in advance !
I got many of tin coats and yes but, u must keep waxed well and heat gun 2 penatrate ur layers b honest im floored coat has rips n wear on it in 2 years and kno as logger i abuse my 15 year old coat more than ur 2 years quailty went 2 shit in 20 years id b curious if it was 5 8.5 or 12 oz coat
From a user perspective, I would be pissed if my $300+ jacket looked like that after 2 years. I have shirts and underwear that look better than that after years of wear. I've had my Haley Stevenson wax jacket that I wore and dragged with me daily for 3 years in better condition than that.
when you re-wax. Does it seep through and saturate the lining, making the lining stiff? I re-waxed an old Barbour style jacket and the wax went right through to the lining...
Well thanks for that. Will definitely not be buying one of these. 2 years and it has holes and tears like that!? I’ve got a cheap goretex jacket that has stood up to years of tree work and only has a slight tear at the cuff. New Filson is clearly just for hipsters
Two years?!?! That’s very premature wear, I have and old Dickies mechanic Ike jacket that 16 years old that I actually wear to work and abuse, that doesn’t look nearly as beat up as this one.
Hey man, just want to say thanks for the video! Your video here was my very first introduction to a Filson garment. That was about a year ago and now I have a bunch of Filson gear and love most of them. Keep up the great videos, and thanks again for sharing! - Brett
I just ordered two days ago the Filson Tin Cloth Short Lined Cruiser Jacket along with the Oil Finish Double Tin Pants. Can you tell me what to expect? I'm extremely used to RAW 18oz. to 23 oz. Loomstate Denim, so I have that covered. I own the LC King unlined chore coat, soon to be Otter Waxed along with other Raw Denim coats. But to me, the holy grail has always been Filson. Is there anything you can clue me into with the oil/tin cloth combo? It'd be much appreciated, I'm counting down the days on my calendar.😄
@@MrPocketfullOfSteel you wrote like 4 paragraphs of rambling incoherent product catalog descriptions to ask 1 question. The answer is that this feels nothing like denim, because it's not made of denim. It feels like heavy oilcloth/ waxed canvas because it's made out of that. What else would you expect?
@@z.w.7292 4 paragraphs. I think not. And YOU "took the time" and didn't say jack. As I'm sitting in my Filson britches and Filson Tin Cloth Line Short Cruiser. But thanks for taking YOUR time for the snarky remark. Much appreciated.👊👍
You won't get a response. I didn't. That is IMO - one of the worse things a YTube Channel can do is make a video.....THEN say "any questions, send me a message/comment" - - then one who takes the time to watch the video and then DO EXACTLY what the person who made the video says to do - and then Do It. And get absolutely No Response. Kinda makes one feel like "they were used for the view." Hate to sound so harsh because I don't 'think I have ever left a response to a video like this before but it's more than likely no big deal because it isn't #1- Gonna get read and/or #2- 'MAY' get read but won't be responded to anyway. So I'm not missing out either way.🙃🤔
By far the best boots for a carpenter. I love the positive traction that they have. The fact that they have no foam or give to the insole is what gives that feeling. I can feel my foot fold over what I am walking on. Be it 2x4 or 2x6 plates up in the air. I would not wear anything else. The fact that they have no hook eyelets is another plus for safety.
You still wear this? Filson fix any of tour issues? Was thinking of buying one... but the folks saying the company has changed and quality has suffered make me worry.
Haven’t tried Red Wong boots even though we have a retail shop here in town. But my Nicks have lasted 5 years without a single complaint just one resole done in those 5 years.
Corporate Greed Is The Culprit to lead Filson to make such Inferior Products. Staying away from Filson and Sticking with Barbour, at least Barbour's products are not being down graded as bad. After Filson, now I can Proudly Say Barbour for Life.
Awesome Patina!
Buys 300$ boot. Never re soles.

This jacket has Way too many holes for two years use for my taste. How did you get so many holes in it? Also what oz. cloth is used in it?

Nice
I have one that's just 3 months old, and the patina looks black in places. Is that normal?
Still going strong?
For some reason this video made me think of Cast Away... Except instead of a volley ball floating away it's his jacket.. "Filson, I'm sorry!!! I'm sorry, Filson... FILSON!!!"
Some suede leather reinforcement would be great for those wear spots, Filson could take a lesson from you, thanks for putting this out

What’s the sizing for these. Do they come up big?

Have these and are 30 years old !!! and are still great comfortable boots. Got em used!
Is this the short or xtra long?

They should be sourcing the new fabrics from Haley Stevenson. Great stuff.
Thanks for the video. I liked this jacket and wanted to buy one, but if this is how it looks like after two years I might go for something else.
Buy a filson tin that still has u mite as well have the best those were made b4 filson quality went to shit
What size is this jacket?

Was you jacket stiff when you first got it?
Truly jealous! Mine is just as filthy but lacks the holes. If it gets like yours I will buy a new one and save the old one for best.
omg what job do you do to worn out a jacket that quick? I had mine for 2 yrs as well and it looks almost new.....
5 year update???

The jacket is actually "Old Filson". New Filson has black tags and only come in s-m-l, his is size 44 and has the original white tags.

Did you re sole them yet? Inquiring minds want to know
What’s up with your fildon jacket is it still kicking?
I wear the Alaskan guide shirt the Folsom wool vest and this jacket assuming impervious to wet cold: opinion?

Any update on the wear on this one? Looks like you put it through the ringer.
the jacket looks so filthy and disgusting. it also looks soooo freaking awesome and worn looking. looks almost leathery in some areas, looks cool!

This may be the worst video I’ve ever seen. Why did you even bother? May as well have pointed the camera to the sky.
Hi, are they heavy to wear and can knee pads be inserted into them? Also are they really waterproof
Mine double tins dont have to place for them.
How is it holding up? Id be curious to see another update video.

Great review. What is the other brand of the wax?
Man that jacket has tons of patina! Looks awesome. I just got one for Christmas. I’m looking forward to wearing getting some patina on mine.
That’s what 877 should look like. 👍
very nice! I like redwing me too.

When’s the jacket unboxing
Man those combs are dreamy
Very cool man; is this the normal or extra long version?

Pnwsportsman red wings are nice, but nicks are pretty hard to beat.
