what ive always done (which is not very efficient) is ill have one oscillator that has a lot over beefy overtones, then i will create a group chain where one channel (the sub) is getting a low pass while the overtone channel gets a hard low cut. ill then manipulate that channel with whatever, but usually a slight ubermod chorus

Feels like playing Rain by Rob Scallon on guitar, so easy but the delay makes you feel like a god

How fast do you make these?

Its amazing how intentional intermodulation distortion(just means when two or parts of a sound are distorted together) can really add a bunch of texture. Also this is really simple but you can some interesting flutter to a sound if you pitch the sinewave one octave below what is normally used for sub bass(so octave 1 in FL and octave -1 for Ableton).

I'd actually love to hear that exact sequence again at 11/16 (or maybe even 19/16ths??) delay, which _should_ ultimately have a similar effect? But you'd be getting the overlapping from two measures, which could either sound just as cool, or be terrible. So curious which!

So often I'm surprised by the simplest things you use to such powerful effect. Making a basic round system with the delay effect is very clever, and like you showed, instantly upped the complexity of the piece. Something I'd add myself, is that since delays are such a common feature, this could be used to particularly strong effect in off-pick DAWs/sequencers where you might otherwise find yourself fighting "resolution" or however many notes/beats the program lets you cram into a single loop. If youre running it at 50% you could take it a step further and toss it onto an effect buss or return at 100%, then that way when you route other sounds into the same distortion, especially if theres other sounds happening around the same time as that whistle, itll give them a bit more of a dynamic tape feel by driving them together! Awesome tip!! ❤
