From what I can see, Haunted Castle revisited has, No Filter, Scanlines, Smoothing and Scanlines & Smoothing. I couldn't see this setting on the DS games

I really liked the Dracula and Frankenstien's Monster fights... the 4 giant heads were difficult to remember what heads did what... or maybe I'm just stupid! 😅 A whole new CV game would be wonderful!

@@The_GamingMagpie It really is!, in the last days I was playing Castlevania 1 on NES and also GBA because of Retro Achievements... and you know what? the second quest's underground cave is SOOOO annoying without the Watch.

I beat CV1 and saw there was a second quest and just noped out at that point 😂

@@The_GamingMagpie You know the changes in the second quest?: you always take max damage, water monsters trolls you and spawn in specific moments to throw you in the water, bats and medusas appear in more levels and there is some new hidden treasures

Almost like infinite lives really... Game over takes your right back to your previous checkpoint 😅

That was an absolute treat on top of an already amazing surprise!

It was a very fun game (I'd recommend putting it on hard mode though!). Checkpoints were a bit too generous! Bosses were anything ranging from, easy to, somewhat difficult (Dracula's second form), to Brute force it (like Medusa) 😅

​@@The_GamingMagpie well tell me about it they defenitley become in my opinion the best of castlevania once the Belmont joined smash bros, sure aria is still great but in term of a trilogy the DS is better in my eyes :P

I only played Dawn of Sorrow on the DS games...... Aria is probably my fav out of the Metroidvanias so far (better than SotN! 👀).... I think I would have liked Dawn better if it didnt have those awful touch controls for the seals !

@@The_GamingMagpie well if you did try dawn and saw the seal maybe there is autoseal mode which basically cut down the entire thing like in Julius mode?

Once I found an autoseal for Dawn I enjoyed it a lot more.... (I "beat" Death and couldnt do the seal and then died.... beyond frustrated! 😂)

Agree, graphically and style wise, it looks like a cheap flash game. Audio is a bit weak sounding, I've heard much better metal castlevania songs from UA-camrs. But I will give credit where it is due and say that it is better than the original because of its much more fair and fun redesign.

I've got that version too and I had the exact same thoughts! 😂 This remaster(remake?) seems to prioritse fun over difficulty... I love it!

The Arcade Archives version is on PS4/5 only i think. The new Dominius Collection version is on all modern consoles/PCs (I believe, please don't quote me on any of this 😅)

@@The_GamingMagpie Oh for sure the main selling point for me. I have original copies of all the DS games main nicety in that regard will be an upgrade in OST fidelity tho cause DS sounds like turds even when emulated.

I watched JupiterClimb watching the opening cutscenes earlier, and he was loving the HD quality of them over the DS versions.... if thats what your into, worth it just to see them!

I definitely have some regret not getting the other collections from LRG now.... But the price to ship them to the UK, I'd assume is not worth it 😅

It's not really new... just more a remaster of the old Arcade game from the 80s. I think every Castlevania fan would break the internet if we got a proper new Classic or Metroid vania game! 👀

With Level ups and typical metroidvania mechanics , it just makes the level design rather trivial . Bur im gonna check it out . Maybe im wrong overall.

The collections we've gotten over the last few years are great! But I would give my first born for a new Metroidvania Castlevania game, even if it was half as good as SotN or Aria of Sorrow 😂

Thanks. To be honest it wasnt really that hard. And the checkpoints were really forgiving! (like the game dropping you back in to Dracula Phase 2!). It was only when I finished the game I realised there was a difficulty setting in the Menu 😅

I never played the original but these bosses were fun (but not very challenging!). Dracula's final form was definitely the hardest of the lot.. a lot going on on screen and having to memorise which head did what!

WOW! I've played a bit of the original and its brutally hard! So for the final boss to be that easy is really weird!
