Evotech CAE | MSC Apex 'Course Bites' | Non-Linear FEA Multi-Step Analysis
Переглядів 9710 місяців тому
Here's another 'Course Bite' from our 'Intro to Non-Linear FEA with MSC Apex' online course. Multi-step analysis can be key to non-linear FEA, where the sequential load history is important in capturing detailed model response. In non-linear analysis, a single load case may be made up of a series of discrete steps for a given load history. An example of this could be applying fastener pre-load ...
Evotech CAE | MSC Apex 'Course Bites' | Non-Linear FEA Initial Conditions

Here's another 'Course Bite' from our 'Intro to Non-Linear FEA with MSC Apex' online course. Initial conditions such as bolt modeling and pre-load are vital in ensuring accurate non-linear solution response. Many non-linear analyses are based around structures with bolted joints, fastener pre-load and interference fits. Apex uses dedicated functions to simplify both the modeling and analysis of...

Here's another 'Course Bite' from our 'Intro to Non-Linear FEA with MSC Apex' online course. Robust solution output with contact non-linearity can be difficult to achieve for large assemblies with many contact bodies. Here we'll show techniques to simplify the approach using Apex's many part and assembly controls. Most production-level models will contain many parts, which can exert content loa...

Here's another 'Course Bite' from our 'Intro to Non-Linear FEA with MSC Apex' online course. Here we'll show how non-linear convergence tolerances can be used to tune an analysis to pick out the required level of detail. During the non-linear FEA solution, load progression is controlled with a number of different convergence tolerances, ranging from displacement, force and work to a combination...
Evotech CAE | MSC Apex 'Course Bites' | Non-Linear FEA Solution Strategy
Переглядів 4511 місяців тому
Here's another 'Course Bite' from our 'Intro to Non-Linear FEA with MSC Apex' online course. Setting a modeling and solver strategy is important for all aspects of FEA, but generally more so for non-linear analysis. Here we show some of the main aspects involved in ensuring a successful run. Non-linear FEA may lead to long run times, often with an unsatisfactory outcome at the end of the analys...
Evotech CAE | MSC Apex 'Course Bites' | Non-Linear FEA Solution Failure
Переглядів 39Рік тому
Here's another 'Course Bite' from our 'Intro to Non-Linear FEA with MSC Apex' online course. Non-linear FEA has historically been complex, and often led to incomplete solutions or no solution at all. Here we present the major pitfalls, how to spot problems, and the steps to take when problems arise. Non-linear FEA requires considerably more understanding and set-up over a linear FEA workflow. E...

Here's another 'Course Bite' from our 'Intro to FEA with MSC Apex' online course. Here we'll look at different FEA workflows, from building models for external FEA solvers and how to update FEA models where no legacy CAD is available. FEA models can be built and analysed in the Apex environment, but they can also be exported in standard format for submittal to external solvers, such as MSC Nast...
Evotech CAE | MSC Apex 'Course Bites' | FEA Contact Control

Here's another 'Course Bite' from our 'Intro to Non-Linear FEA with MSC Apex' online course. Contact non-linearity can be controlled through a number of solution algorithms and tolerances, allowing straight-forward set-up for aspects such as contact pressure and friction. Controlling non-linear contact models can be difficult with legacy toolsets, with opaque model set-up and solver controls. A...

Here's another 'Course Bite' from our 'Intro to FEA with MSC Apex' online course. Here we'll show a means of quickly checking model build, the full FEA solver process and how to explore the results of an analysis. Once an FEA model is build, it will be submitted to the solver to generate results. With results available, the model response can be assessed, and judgements made. We'll show means o...

Here's another 'Course Bite' from our 'Intro to Non-Linear FEA with MSC Apex' online course. Contact non-linearity covers the change in structural stiffness and load path, as bodies begin to touch or move apart from one another. Contact non-linearity can exist in a number of different forms, depending on the overall analysis intent. These can range from glued contact, where two bodies are perma...

Here's another 'Course Bite' from our 'Intro to FEA with MSC Apex' online course. Assembly models can often be made up of many parts - we'll show how these can be verified or replaced between different model configurations. Verifying model behaviour is vital in ensuring a successful analysis. For large assemblies with many parts, we can use an incremental verification scheme as each part is bui...
Evotech CAE | MSC Apex 'Course Bites' | FEA Material Plasticity

Here's another 'Course Bite' from our 'Intro to Non-Linear FEA with MSC Apex' online course. Here we'll look specifically at the plasticity response of a ductile material, and its impact on both the stress and strain behaviour. Material plasticity is a non-linear phenomenon that occurs after the material yield point. The plastic stiffness of a material will depend on how the stress/strain curve...

    Hi, Nice video. I have a few questions. When ı apply pressure, ı see it is under the loads section on the left top but ı do not see the arrows on my model. And ı cannot split element it draws rectangles not a line. Also the post process icon doesnt light up after running the scenario. only feedback ı got is bad element quality nothing more but still ı cannot continue to post process. How can ı solve these problems do you have any suggestion? I really need to solve these, your help matters a lot to me.

    Hi, Is there anyway to get op2 file from msc apex??

    • @evotechcaeltd1583
      @evotechcaeltd1583 2 роки тому

      Yes, Amin. Apex supports 'an end to end' MSC Nastran workflow, normally based around HDF5, but can also handle OP2. You'd need to export BDF from Apex, change the PARAM,POST card to request OP2, solve using MSC Nastran, then read the OP2 back into Apex.

    Ok now make a website where I can input data into a cad scripting applet which can present a rendering to be later verified by a engineer before building. Then people can build their frame on their own.

      @@evotechcaeltd1583 I would use SCAD for the cad scripting software. Already ordered a ti frame. Sorry for telln ya 'what to do'. If you don't do it first canyon will. I mean the idea is a succession of what they already do. Yet with additive ti it's possible. You just need a web develóper that can run scad in a command line interface which I'm pretty sure it does, and then import the return files into the generated webpage. Additive ti is expensive to get the machines too so I hope you can build the cnc fixture in house and capitalize/sell your ability. Gcode cnc controllers are ubiquitous. My uncle does additive ti. It's a million dollar investment (as of 5-10 years ago) but yet that's not reflected in parts and labor.

    Could it be possible to associate an imported mesh to an imported CAD (2D or 3D geometry) as it can be done on Patran?

    • @evotechcaeltd1583
      @evotechcaeltd1583 3 роки тому

      Yes. Apex creates a faceted surface/solid directly from the imported mesh, which is associated automatically.
