Doesn't seem like the video ended properly.
Nice job on the asphalt. Concrete is WAY too much work for me. The savings are tempting, but I'm not in my 30s anymore.
Genius
Hilarious ending. Nice work.
Nice work, way more than I could have bitten off when I was younger. Back breaking. Looks great and an expensive looking result at a huge savings.
I’ve never heard of asphalt in a bag.
Ben was priceless. When you were talking about pouring it by yourself, I thought, I gotta see this. Rule #1, you can’t have too much help when you’re pouring concrete.
@@marcellinasfigaro9364 💯💯💯
Beautiful job❤ it’s awesome
I am 100% sure if I was doing this project I wouldn't have bothered with leveling the path. I'd have probably had the first 4' level with the driveway and then gently sloped it the rest of the way, much less work and helps with keeping the water/ ice off in the winter.
@@BType13X2 everything has pitch away from driveway and path. It was my perfectionist side doing it. Glad I did it tho. Way nicer than going down a hill to then go back up
Why didn't you buy bags of cement instead of asphalt... Cold patch sucks. And you just learned how to do concrete
@@DrTriggered yea, I guess i just wanted to match the driveway
@mateostabio I own a paving company, you made it look as good as that could tho good job.
This was impressive and really helpful but brother you have convinced me to not do this. 😂 Good work though. I think I'll stick to just a gravel driveway install for mine.
@@086Laura haha awesome!
As an italian viewer i am allways amazed by the house market in North America and expecially in Canada. I'm just trying to buy at auction, a nice brick house 2000sq feet near my apartment starting at 85 thousand hoping to staying under 150. By the way, you gave me italian vibes, is part of your family originally from here?
@@MavideDosconi yup! Great grandparents were Italian but my parents are Argentinian. Hence my name. It is crazy. And it would be nice to be looking at a house for under $100K. That would be easy to pay off quick 😂.
did not learn sketchup

just dont wanna see you suffer anymore.
Aww
Great job, and kudos to you for having both the courage to tackle a big job like this, and the intelligence to enlist expert help at the right times. This reminds me of when my wife and I installed an interlocking brick walkway in our first home. There were several times when we thought “what have we got ourselves into?”, but it all worked out in the end.
@@dooleyfan thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching!
Whats the cost of those mini excavation machines?
You can check it out on their website www.minipelle.ca/r/KR5
Bought our first home, a semi-detached starter home in a neighbourhood built in the early 70s. It was our first offer. Everything went well at the beginning. Signed the deal, had a closing date, had enough time (two weeks) to slowly move our stuff in from an apartment before we had to vacate our apartment. Then it was a week before closing and we went with our realtor to inspect the home. Nothing in boxes yet, garbage all over the place, and a visibly agitated homeowner staying out of our way. We expressed our concerns privately with the realtor but he stated that we shouldn't worry. The closing date came. My wife picked up the keys from the lawyer's office while I was at work. Then she went over to the house. People were still moving things but the cause for concern was that it was 2 PM and they were only 25% done. The keys aren't to be transferred until they're ready to relinquish the home. So while my wife had the keys, the previous owners kept a copy of the keys and continued to frequently grab items and haul them away. After calls to the lawyer, we gave them until 5 PM to which anything left was considered ours. That included a great number of dirty diapers and other garbage scattered around the home and property. After getting off work, I went straight to the hardware store to pick up a new deadbolt so that old keys would be useless. We later found out that, shortly after the sale, the husband was divorcing the wife which was why most of the packing wasn't done during our lead-up inspection. Several months later (closed in September, so probably in May) we held a yard sale to rid ourselves of all the stuff left behind. The husband's mother had stopped by and given us some information. The husband was cheating on the wife and it was just weeks before closing that he dropped the infidelity and divorce papers on the wife. To make matters worse, the new house they were to move into was just in his name so the wife and two kids (under two years old) were now homeless. They moved in with the in-laws who disowned their son. We gave some of the wife's crafting stuff we were offloading at the yard sale back to the mother-in-law with our well-wishes. Had we known, we may have been more understanding and forgiving during the closing date debacle. One of the things left in a basement fridge was an untouched birthday cake for the two-year-old. It may not have been on par or tumultuous as your experience, but it was eventful and noteworthy. We're still here 19 years later.
The ending is the content I’m here for 😂
@@explosev6513 awesome! Glad you made it to the end. Thanks for watching

You need the edge screw template to make the screws invisible and also prevent stain holes or water sitting on top
@@DVul i did my deck lick this but I don’t think its mandatory
Overall good job... Skid steer is faster and easier than digger for this type of project, much easier to grade and move material quickly I did about 1800ft of paving in a half basket weave pattern with a slope and curve (ton of cutting in) at my house so get it....
I'll never buy a bathtub on marketplace, thanks for sharing

we just sold our first home and the buyer died in the home a week afterwards! 😢 it’s back for sale. it happens!

@@DrunkcookingwilthBilly i have all the totals at the end of
I have a place nearby that charged me 50$ per load
@mateostabio that's cheap. I brought 10 paver 2x2 stones and it was 50 bucks. That bin must have been like 500.
Oh wow you made that way too complicated you should just have put four posts in at corners and framed from there
@@gges1605 yup that would of been the easiest. I wanted to try and challenge myself to work around the concrete
@@mateostabio Hopefully those screws into the old steps will hold up but they may not if there is constant movement and pressure on them you might find they work their way out, I think its great that you got stuck in and did it too many folks afraid to get their hands dirty these days.
Glad everything ended up working out, especially considering you'd already purchased the kitchen cabinets (i feel like that would have been a massive PITA to incorporate in a different space as opposed to the flooring). You also got a crazy good price considering it was 2020 (i guess before the real boom in prices judging by how the value was 400k by the time you took ownership). I'm guessing you bought outside of the island... We bought in 2016 and fully detached bungalows were not quite in the low 300 range in RDP
Yea, I actually ended up getting a refund for the ikea kitchen. But the wood floor was at my parents house for like 7months lol. Ikea was a pain during covid. Everything was out of stock and it was hard to get a hold of them, so I hadn’t even picked up the kitchen yet. Got my refund and then placed the same order again once I got the new notary date lol
Usually a good idea not to hit your hand with the hammer lol, great job though looks amazing
Guaranteed you were living in Montreal North, right?
@@MystMyth you’d be surprised!
@@mateostabioI mean the choices are pretty limited assuming I'm right about placing your accent as East end Italian. There's Montreal North, RDP, and St. Leonard. Which makes me think you're talking about RDP, which in all honesty isn't a bad neighborhood for the most part.
Well done, i hate to say this but i thought you could actually pull it off in 7 days. Having neibours complain and work in the middle sure slows things down. I felt bad for you that you werent wearing a respirator.. your lungs are more imporanter than anyones driveway!!!

@@tomb_____625 thanks for watching!
too bad you can't drive a car on it without ruining it lol. Pavers are useless. Concrete + stamps.
Lol. Do your research. Pavers properly installed can last decades. Vs stamped concrete is almost guaranteed to crack. And then what do you do?! Live with it? Everything has pros and cons. I don’t know of many concrete driveways up here in Canada. Cant say its a popular option around me
Did you ever find out why they cut down the trees and bushes? It seems counterintuitive on their end to put extra money into a house that’s already locked in at a set selling price. unless they were hoping you moved on and backed out eventually
@@sieeng to be honest i dont remember if I ever got an answer. I think it had something to do about it being so overgrown and they couldnt even access the pool or wtv, not sure exactly but maybe they were hoping id move on and they would start cleaning out the yard to sell it for more.
July 2020 agreed to buy a house, private sale, no home inspection from a 90 year old lady, us with two small kids and a third due in Dec. In the meantime, sold our house, also privately, paperwork was signed by Oct-Nov '20 with closing in May '21. Housing prices skyrocketed. She could have changed her mind at any time and we would've been SCREWED. Finally by March '21 we had paperwork signed and she (thankfully) held up her end of the deal. All worked out in the end but blind naivety is a dangerous thing lol.
