Endoscopic Management of Anastomotic Leak After Esophagectomy - Dr. Ian Wong
The International Society for Diseases of the Esophagus hosted a virtual presentation on Leaks After Esophagectomy: Handling a difficult complication on March 22, 2022, in collaboration with the Malaysian Upper GI Surgical Society (MUGIS). During the 90-minute presentation international panel presented on minimizing anastomotic leaks after esophagectomy, endoscopic management and answered questions from a live audience.

I’m six days away from robotic Ivor Lewis esophagectomy. Still scared. I’ve never had a major surgery. No matter how many videos I watch of people who had a successful surgery. I still feel anxious. I know that is normal. I would feel much better about this surgery if there was some type of artificial esophagus they could use to replace the one they remove. Even if it did not have a functioning valve at the junction it would be so much better to leave the stomach completely intact rather than removing the nerves and stretching it up behind the heart and lungs. Cases are on the rise and they are not going away so I truly hope someone is working on this.

Well presented and discussed, I would have done the same neoadju - restag- followed by left thoracoabdo app and R-en-Y Jej reconstruction.... thanks for sharing,
