Yeah, DCS I'd lacking very much in ww2 damage modeling. It's very simplified and it seems only a small portion of the aircraft have zones that can be damaged (like except for ailerons, you can fire 4000 rounds into the middle of the wing and nothing happenes)

True, but you can get overconfident. In my second run, I wanted to go light armour and rapier. I grabbed the falchion. And pirate hat and spent a tiny amount on a wooden buckler. And I didn't plan on spending any more money until I hit tier 3 to get rapier and good light armour. I breezed through the dungeons, blasted the first Golem. And then I went for the second one. Still basically in my underwear. Golem had only 1 crystal left, and I got too aggressive. The Golem got in a swipe with its arms and killed me on one hit.

Half-Life Alyx is a great first VR game. It can run on any computer that barley meets the VR requirements from like 2018. It made specifically to be entry level game for VR. The only negative is most other VR games will seem like crap next to it. With their standard VR jank and far worse graphics. With new model of Pico 4 out and new model of quest 3 coming you can probably get a headset relatively cheaply.

I find BMS quite intimidating. In DCS, unless you fly mil sim online severs or mil sim style campaigns, you can get away with a lot of " meh close enough " in DCS. But BMS kinda is always mil sim.

Thanks. I've had to sort out my F16 stick this week, before jumping back into BMS.

Yeah, the coms were really my number one reason to try BMS, hard to learn proper coms when DCS doesn't have it.

Yeah I'm definitely gonna have to get into that. I have a F18 throttle and an F18 grip on my force feedback base. Both of which are quite close to the F15. Never bothered with the F15C in DCS as the FC3 aircraft does nothing for me.

@@Gunfreak19 Because of the F-15C (and Hornet to a lesser degree) I'm itchin for a dual-throttle. I've got a TWCS, and that's fine.

@artao5 duel throttle is very nice. And it's my everyday throttle, with F16 having it's own throttle and helicopters having their own collective. But the 18 throttle is used for all the other jets and warbirds. With split throttle being nice for RPM one and boost/MP on the other

Thanks, kinda done with desert maps after those 4 or 5 DCS has. Looking forward to seeing what they'll do the map graphic in the next major BMS update

The P47 has insanely sensitive rudder in DCS much more than even the Spitfire. I've added deadzone and curves.

True, AI is stupid while their aircraft are overpowered.

They just recently managed to crush a bug that caused very frequent crashes in VR. That will be part of the next vr beta patch. I'm looking forward to it. As frankly the crashes were the main remaining problem. The rest is just minor visual bugs. They've already improved preformance a lot. So will be interesting to see if they can improve it even more.

Looks like they are aiming at before the next DLC releases (scheduled for late 2024) or with the DLC release(but still free update)

@@Gunfreak19 No worries, wasn't having a dig at you at all, sorry if you thought that. It was more to say that VR for this game has been on the verge of release for years now and all you ever see are glimpses of a Beta test and odd bits of info someone posts online.

@ryansta it's been slow going. But they have added and improved over the years. One of the latest patches improved preformance in vr by a lot. It was impossible for me to fly over London at the start of the beta. Now it works fine. The last major thing to be added is the latest version of speed tree. I know some of the stuff that's taken so long is they've gotten very little support from 3rd party stuff like truesky and speed tree and they've had to pay into higher levels to get proper support. They are also hunting down the last major bugs.

I'm not really sure. It does export to force feedback sticks. But not to simshaker pad.

@@Gunfreak19 I have a motion rig dof2, and it does support a lot of games... but not this. Pitty. It does even support IL-2 BoS, so I dont know why they dont export the telemetry in this one.

@Lorian667 it happened during one of the updates to blitz some years back. Apparently they do want to add support for it again. But it will be after the visual update and TF 6.0

Thanks, that's what I was going for. It's a bit of a headache to get those shots in this sim vs il2 or dcs. But worked out OK.

@@Gunfreak19 I've been waiting for so long for TrueSky. I was once one of those CloD hardcore fans and member of the JG4 many years ago. I left (under pain) the CloD world because it feels in many ways outdated compared to Il-2 BoX. One for me most important point was the weather system, the clouds, fog and wind.

@henryluebberstedt7819 honestly can't stand IL2 anymore. So many annoyances in bugs and lacking features. And as one that likes to fly low level and make videos the terrible terrain graphics puts me off. The terrain is much better in clod. I have more clod vidoes on the channel. Some of the latter ones show of various new clouds.

I hope so too. It's some time since last beta update. But they've been working hard and have had some very specific bug hunts lately that the beta team has been doing.

I've played it for around 15 hours before patch 1.0. But it's like 2 years since last I played it properly. Also played with mods back then that changed the weapons handling.

Hope you enjoy it. I do get somewhat less confused as time goes by.

It's very cool. Played it as much the last week as the previous 3 years.

I had hoped it was more like the blade and Sorcery crystal hunt mode. Proper leveles with start and finish. This is just more of the same area fight stuff.

I had curves. They've apparently fixed some of the insanity in the 1.2 version. Haven't tried it yet.

In mission editor. When you make the aircraft player/client. Your get page to the far right(past where you set up radio presents) there you can set up various stuff. Including selecting JHMCS, NVGs or nothing. This is nothing selected.

Oh. I loved the HLA mod. I watched one video of the new game many months back. And it looked like a generic low budget unreal vr game. Janky physics. The gunplay looked nothing like the HLA mod. So I'm interested in how it looks now.

Just looked at the new gunman contracts footage. And it looks fantastic. So much better then what I saw months ago. That looked like a mod for bonelabs. This new footage looks really really good.

@@Gunfreak19 Yeah, someone mentioned it reminds them of a Max Payne but in VR. Get some Noire style monologues in there and they’re right.

It's a bit convoluted. You need to change a line in the F16 view lua forum.dcs.world/topic/349184-new-pilot-model-for-f-16c/?do=findComment&comment=5443804 Then you move the camera with numpad . You'll also need hold down right control while using the numbpad keys.
