Three years in August for me. One of the things that I have found so difficult is the emotional impact. My poor wife has had to sit and listen to me telling her that it would be better for her if I was no longer here. Suicidal thoughts have become and ever present problem for me. I have lost my business, although on paper it’s still running, but I drag myself out of bed every day to do a very heavy construction based job. But trying to problem solve and take on very physical work is slowly killing me. I know that I should be resting, but you have to eat and so here in New Zealand there is zero help for any of us and just like our American cousins the medical industry won’t admit that they have no treatment plan for any of us. We are just seen as collateral damage unfortunately.

Last time I got covid Thanksgiving 2022. I was sleeping 10 to 15 hours a day for a week. Never been the same, I am 65 and have always worked out and have always been hyper. Now my lungs have scarring and 11 nodules and for 2.5 years extreme fatigue, not digging it . Tomorrow I go to pulmonologist for either PET scan or lung biopsy.

Sorry doc, but this video isn't portraying the reality we patients have. You tell people to do exercise, and yet that's what most of us can't do. You're ignoring what you said in the previous video that the body isn't producing energy, so how come you recommend exercise??? What Your described in your previous video is exactly that I lived. I had en effort test and my heart just went crazy and I needed about 30 minutes to recover in the bed of the doctor's office so that I could be taken in a wheel chair to my my car and be driven back home. The cognitive therapy??? How does that help a physiological issue?? If it was a psychological issue, maybe, but how will usar heal my muscles, etc?? Then you speak about de-conditioining- many of us where very active before this illness hit us. Running and cycling one day, and on a wheelchair or bed bound the next. The issue is that something happened to the body that prevents us from doing things, but that we suddenly we decided to not do anything and hence got de-conditioned. So, if scientist find a way to give us our energy back, I can assure you many of us will be more than happy to exercise our way back to our normal selves. The issue is that such lack of energy prevents us from exercise. And also, there are so many people who hit infected since early 2020, like me, and still are doing very poorly. You also didn't take into account multiple infections causing huge relapses. I'm not sure I explained my self clearly; however, I hope you do read this and that it's helpful to your medical approach in helping long haulers. Thanks a lot for your interest in helping doc.

People who are posting on here do not know what they are talking about if you thought the vaccine caused this deliberating illness . You know you can get Lyme disease from a tick. This is no different. I did not have vaccine or booster. I really pray that you or your family does not suffer from an illness, the god forbids take their everyday living away.

Every doctor I’ve seen at Hillsboro Oregon Kaiser has treated me like crap. I know I have POTS from Covid. You are literally on your own. They don’t care, don’t have time, and basically treat you like you’re insane and want to give you antidepressants. I hate it. Why do I pay $2800 a month?

What few of these people seem to discuss is successive bouts with the virus. The variants are often easy to catch. The initial illness can be minor, but then come the more severe, chronic and lingering "long covid" effects that can be so debilitating!

(Recovered person here) Dr Brode, you’re spot on with this analysis. These three categories perfectly line up with the strategies I used to get better. You can see my story on my channel. I spent two years healing my body, and whilst it helped my symptoms- a lot - I was still left with pain (but less) terrible fatigue and brain fog. My theory is that the autonomic nervous system gets dysregulated because I was constantly in fight / flight mode. We know that the body alters autonomic processes in F/F. Reduces certain senses whilst enhancing others. Heart beat, digestion etc are all affected. Once I sorted out my mental problems the fatigue, brain fog and the rest of the pain cleared. I’m now in maintenance mode keeping myself out of fight flight. Whenever I drop back in my symptoms come back. But it’s infrequently. The answer is in my vid x please watch it for you patients and decide for yourself.

Dead on that after about 18 months there has been little to no improvement and that the big 3 are still going strong. Cognitive issues, fatigue and PEM. 4:45

Thank you so much for this video! It is clear, informative and explains LC in such a way that a lay person, like myself, gains a real understanding of what has happened to my body over the last four years. I am making great strides in my recovery, but still have weeks when I crash completely and am confined to bed to rest. I try to pace myself and follow guidelines, but the yearning to be the fit, active woman I was for so many years prior to LC can be overwhelming. Thank you too for all your hard work and research into LC and let’s hope that one day a solution will be found to help all those of us suffering from this debilitating condition.

I have had covid twice. The last time was around February 2024. Since then, I've been dealing with quite a bit of fatigue. It isn't debilitating, but I'm in bed more than I'm not. I haven't been the same person since February. I just don't know if it is related to my covid or not. All I know is that covid was the beginning of whatever this is.

Very informative video, but you really dropped the ball on one of the main symptoms of long Covid and that is the effects that it has on your gut health. In addition to the fatigue, my gut microbiome has been completely destroyed. I have been to several gastroenterologist in my area whose main goal is to only treat your symptoms and not get to the root cause of the gut issues that are associated with long Covid. Also, another big symptom with long Covid that is overlooked or not associated properly is tinnitus. If you have someone that has been diagnosed with long Covid, the chances are pretty good that they are also experiencing ringing in their ears. Especially during a flareup of gut symptoms.

This is very interesting, but for those of us that I’ve had it since the beginning of the pandemic, the horses have already left the barn and so telling us what we should have done is not extremely helpful. I think you need to consider having advice for people that have been dealing with this for four years.
