Explanation (warning it's a lil dark, contains suic!dal themes):
Alright. Sword becomes a follower to Illumina, and Illumina wants to make sure that Sword removes every single distraction. He wants Sword to only focus on worshipping him. He knew thay Rocket was Swords main distraction, so he kind of cursed Rocket. He made it so that Rocket, no matter what, would always die in Swords hands. Sword, devastated, tries to look for something or someone to help revert the damages. He indeed does find someone (We do not know who), and he gets stuck in a timeloop. He would constantly try to save Rocket, to make sure he doesn't kill him. But every single time, Rocket ends up dying to his hands. The mystery guy tells him that he can't change Rockets fate. Sword, being a firm believer, believes that he can, and only gives himself false hope. Sword continues being trapped in this timeloop, and soon enough, gets sick of it. One day, Rocket notices Swords disheveled state and tries to comfort him, having no idea why he's like that. Sword, who's grown so fed up and tired, kills Rocket with his bare hands. He realizes what he's done, and being unable to bear all this guilt, he joins Rocket in the afterlife.
