I decided in the middle of 2024 that I wanted to go back and play through the entire Zelda series. As it evolved and I did a 100% playthrough of The Wind Waker, I decided that I finally wanted to 100% most of the mainline games in the series. So, the Year of Zelda was born. I will be going through all the games and using guides and friends in the chat to 100% the games as best I can. Some people might think I will miss some things, but these are going to be my 100% playthroughs. I will also be playing them in release order.
Moving on to the handheld games, Link's Awakening was the first Zelda game I ended up playing (that I can recall well). I may have played Zelda 1 and 2 when I was 3, but how much do you remember about that experience?
Knowing I was getting an N64 for Christmas in 1998 (long story), I decided to ask for Link's Awakening for my Birthday in May to hold over the "possibility" of getting Ocarina of Time in December. Link's Awakening became my favorite Zelda as a result for many years, until Midna's Adventure came into my life. The game is quirky and goofy and just full of so much charm. Initially a port of ALTTP to the GB, this game became a classic for many. When a remake was announced out of nowhere in 2019, I was one of the few to know it just by the water at the beginning of the trailer. And that is the version I have decided to 100% for the channel. The only downside being Dampe and his wonderful Zelda Maker wannabe. Let's tackle the GB classic of Link's Awakening.
