    I only found out about the Perrin Technique last week and haven't seen an osteopath yet. I've just started reading the books and watching videos. However, I have been experiencing CFS since 1992, I have a mild to severe scoliosis in the thoracic area and I routinely feel pain in my solar plexus whenever I have a 'crash'. So I'm pretty excited to find out about this technique. This is really the first time that it seems that anyone has a workable theory for treating CFS, at least, as far as it relates to my situation . . .

    Thank you for showing the self-massage. It's great to have a resource like this patients can use after a skilled bodyworker has cleared any restrictions that are in the way of their lymphatic pathways being able to drain properly.

    Thank you so much for posting this! Pretty sure I am having lymphatic drainage issues as I can feel the small lumps just under my skin. I have fibromyalgia but never realized it might be connected to lymphatic drainage issues, and am going to start trying this. I tried to find a Perrin Technique practitioner in my area but there are none. Does this make people feel sick afterwords, like a hangover feeling? Massage in general will make me feel ill for a few hours or a day or two. Will this have the same effect? I am just wondering so I can plan on resting afterwards, as well as avoid doing this before I need to be active.

      Hi Stephanie. Thanks for your question. The reactions to the Perrin Technique self treatment routines can vary but yes, it can make you feel nauseous afterwards. This isn't always straight away but can often be the next day or even up to 36 hours or so later. The theory behind this is that as you increase the glymphatic and lymphatic drainage rate, this places an increased demand on the liver to process waste products (as it would after having alcohol) which can result in the feeling of nausea. Taking Milk Thistle or ginger, which are liver-supportive, whilst you are feeling bad can be helpful in reducing the severity of symptoms, plus of course ensuring that you drink plenty of water. Hope that helps. Best regartds, Andy

    There is absolutely no technical sense in working over the nipples and stroking the breast. The lymph channels run in a completely different direction. In addition, the relevant techniques to move the lymph are missing. I am very sensitive to MLD but I don't feel anything here and my nervous system is being massively stressed instead. • @breakspearclinic9438

      Jason, if the handle of the back brush is long, it may make it easier. It is not worth doing it if it hurts your shoulder. If you can only do a little bit of the back by not going to the point it is difficult or hurting, that would be best. If you can not do any of the back with the brush at this time, it is still worth doing the other parts. Each bit will help. It is not a waste of time to do as much as you can of the routine. I do hope this answer helps.

      Hi Phil and thanks very much for your comment, much appreciated.🙏 The Perrin Technique massage and MLD (Manual Lymphatic Drainage) massage are different techniques for treating different problems. The Perrin Technique massage is firmer than MLD massage and a lubricant is used primarily for patient comfort and to avoid excessive skin drag and irritation. MLD is primarily (but not only) used for the treatment of lymphoedema (lymphedema in US) whereas the Perrin Technique is primarily for the treatment of ME/CFS or Fibromyalgia (and possibly Long COVID - research study ongoing) and these patients do not generally have lymphoedema, at least not as a result of ME/CFS. I would certainly start straight away with the full and short routines if you can. We originally did these videos as a homework resource for patients but also to help a friend with Long COVID who lives 3 hours away. She followed the routine, doing the full routine later in the day and the short routine 2 or 3 times a day and it certainly seemed to help her recover. A lot depends on how bad your condition is. As a Perrin Technique practitioner myself, and member of the inaugural Advanced Perrin Practitioners training programme with Dr Raymond Perrin, I would of course recommend seeing a qualified practitioner if there is one nearby . Wishing you a journey to full health. Best regards Andy

      @@breakspearclinic9438 … I agree. LMD is not considered a “massage” and should not be called as such since the pressure on the skin is very superficial to move the lymph flow rather than “touching” muscle as a deeper layer of tissue. @Navina I think with CFS, the lymph gets backed up due to constant muscle tension, stress, and sometimes chronic infections and the sedentary nature (because we can’t move much or exercise) of CFS sufferers. It gets so bad that the toxins cause inflammation in the spinal cord & brain. The lymph has to be moved “manually” since we can’t move much. I hope this helps. The Perrin technique (or lymph massage in general) can be a great aid to programs like Gupta, and pacing techniques.

      Hello. It is not possible to diagnose with out you seeing a Perrin Trained Osteopath, or Dr Perrin himself. He lives and works in Manchester UK. The self massage routine will not harm you, and is very gentle and pleasant. It may well help and you could try it for a few weeks ( long and short routine) and see. 👍😊

      Yesterday I try one self lymphatic drainage massage following a video.For few months I didn't have much neck stiffness issue and head weird heaviness.but yesterday I felt neck stiffness and jaw pains...today I follow your videos..After following this simple massage..I feel head heaviness too after so many months.. Maybe long COVID is issue of lymphatic drainage.

    • @breakspearclinic9438
      @breakspearclinic9438 2 роки тому

      hello Bee, unless we were with you and assessing, we can not be sure. However, it is also quite common to get that feeling as the lymphatic system is being aided to work, and this can then be a symptom of toxins being released. Be sure to go lightly, not heavily with the sequence. Think light Brushing only.

    Thanks for the video! Do you need to use oil? Is there anything else less messy that can be used? If oil is the only/best option, would regular massage oil do?

    • @breakspearclinic9438

      Thank you for asking. No oil is required. It is light finger tip brushing action. If you want to use oil then the most plain and simple oil is best with no smell added. 😊

      @madisonheights396 well that's what he told me in the flesh. I think it's to do with friction and surface layer fascia. I'm the same, I can't shower often, a bout every 2 weeks. I go to a lady who works at Dr P's clinic and she simply oils me up then wipes it off with a towel, so I do the same at home.

      It would be great to see the technique done by a woman, especially for women with larger than the average breast size. Lymph drainage massage videos with women are all done with women with similar body types but none show with larger than average breast size. I feel underrepresented.
