Saigon Vespa Bike Night Tour Adventure
Our 15- member cycling groups first night in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) was a Vespa Bike Night Tour Adventure. This Saigon traffic of bikes and cars might be 'normal' here, but to us it was crazy, exciting and 'dangerous'! But what an experience to remember!

Thank you for your nice comment!!😀
Only had what I had! Just had the short video of dinner at end,and the river stop with the views of Saigon! The "crazy "traffic of Saigon intrigues and amazes me (how does it work??)and the vid shows this up,big time!!!
Where is the dining footage & fun moments off the scooters? A little audible narrative & noisy Saigon traffic with Aussie’s in Oanh @EvaTruong’s tee-shirts. But good to see & thanks for putting up!
Good one Tony "TT or YT" Tonkin, that is a great memory to do now & share on UA-cam. Cheers mate! JA "Shingles"

How about Tilicho Lake?
We didn't have time to trek to Tilicho Lake. But next year we trekked to Gokyo Lake which was very /very beautiful. You may like to watch on this YT link. ua-cam.com/video/3Kz0wY5XY-Y/v-deo.html
This is absolutely amazing and just a wonderfully unique experience and perspective on life. Thank you so much for getting out there and creating something so special and sharing it with us. As someone who used to be so adventurous and constantly seeking new hiking adventures, in the past few years I have lost myself in the big city and all my determination to have an adventurous life more often. Thank you for being such a great inspiration and sharing this with us again :) Wish you all the best and take care :)
Thank you for nice comments, I noticed on many Larapinta YT vids, they understandably feature on the hike itself (which is amazing) with little prominence to what I see as the iconic highlights of the trail. To those who are interested this short vid gives a glimpse into the Larapinta's many amazing scenic features. Congratulations on your channel. I'm sure it brings peace and tranquility to those who watch your vids and your many subscribers. Cheers
Ruggedly spectacular Tony! Nice smooth watch but must have been hard underfoot.
"Ruggedly spectacular". I like that description and its quite true. The Larapinta is tough hike in many respects, and I respect anyone who completes the 230km trail.
How much water did you carry with you? How much water would you recommend carrying per person if doing it as an overnight hike?
Please note there is a small tank at Federation Hut with untreated water. You could 'treat" this water and consume or use for boil/ cooking Otherwise the amount you take would depends on the weather. I would say for cooler weather 3 to 4 liters each would be enough. On hot summer days, gee, who knows,, maybe as much as you could carry!
Hi Tony Tonkin, What is a good way to do this trek -- I imagine with a tour group there? Do you have the name of a good one? Thank you! Geralyne
Hi Geralyne, Yes I would definitely advise using a tour company. Their experience, knowledge and contacts are indispensable to make your trek comfortable and rewarding. Ive done three Nepal treks with the same company called Trekking Team. The company has operated in Nepal for 30 years by the same family, which says allot !! You could contact them via trekteam@mail,com.np or phone 97714228163, and I'm sure Ram or Hari Pathak will help you with any enquires you make. Be careful, there are several co's called trekkingteam !!Bye the way please look at my Gokyo/Everest Base camp trek on my UA-cam channel (Tony Tonkin). It's my favourite trek with awesome scenery, BUT, there all great !!! Cheers
Thanks Tony, do they supply snorkeling gear at the beach?
Yes they do Robyn. One point tho !! We were on a cruise, and for environmental reasons they restricted the number of people snorkeling at any one time, meaning possible delays to enter the Marine Reserve. 😀
@@tonytonkin8315 thanks, yes we are booking it through the cruise, so we have a spot in the 100 allowed.

Thanks for your nice comment. Yes, with this trek, my Annapurna Circuit trek and my ABC trek we went with a experienced company called Trekking Team Pvt Ltd who have been in business over 25 years so they have proved to be trusted and look after you in everyway. Ask for Ram Pathak. Wow !! I've always wanted to travel to Argentina, its such an amazing place with so many things to see and do!! Best regards, Tony

Any sightings of the Button Man?
No, and not sure I'd like to meet him!!
Full 340 km 25 day Annapurna Circuit in 1984: ua-cam.com/video/wxXPsO0Zuzo/v-deo.html I do not understand why you walked the road on the valley floor from Pisang to Manang, and not the splendid high trail via Ghyaru and Ngawal. Terrific views and good high pristine villages for acclimatisation.
Thanks for your comment and your link. I really enjoyed watching it , the scenery and your focus on the people in this amazing region of Nepal (one thing that hasn't changed much over the years ) Boy!!, that was a long Nepal trek you all took on, taking in ABC and the 'Circuit", plus extras on the same trip, and doing it 'tough' mostly camping!! Amazing !!!Teahouses have really changed the nature of trekking in Nepal since those days. You asked about Pisang to Manang, and to be honest our guide didn't even offer it as an option, but looking now at GMaps I see what you said about views and acclimatisation. An old saying but true .....you cant' do it all !!! But I feel I've given it a real good go, trekking ABC, and EBC/Gokyo on separate trips so I'm happy and content with my Nepal 'adventures" . If your interested look at my YT Channel (Tony Tonkin) for different treks, but I will provide a separate link to ABC and EBC treks. Cheers Tony

@@tonytonkin8315 40 years ago one either walked the whole thing or not at all. It was possible to fly out from Jomsom, but nobody set on trekking the AC did that except in an emergency and admitted quitting half way. Now 98% of "Circuit" trekkers quit at Jomsom and think that was it. It is not, Jomsom to Pokhara is just as much part of the AC as the high part. Sad thing about guides is that they all too often want to take the easiest trails with least climbing, and try to avoid telling about trails and villages like Ghyaru and Ngawal which would be much more interesting to clients. One has to do research and ask for better more interesting routes. Ghyaru - Ngawal is actually now the "official" AC trail, but still some unscrupulous guides keep quiet about it. There is a similar situation in Khumbu, where Namche - Mong La - Phortse - Pangpoche trail is much more spectacular than the standard Tengpoche route, but some guides are no even aware that there is a high trail up on the opposite side of the valley and just take trekkers up and down via Tengpoche just as their fathers did.
Thanks for sharing. I did the same trek in 1986 before any motorization...there was no one at Thorong La then, and we allowed ourselves a month because from Muktinath to Phokara was all walking only.
Thanks for your comment. I think you were fortunate to have done the complete and original trek in 1986.A complete Annapurna Circuit trekking experience !!!! It would have been a different experience from today with many people now trekking the Circuit, many new teahouses and much transport from Muktinath. Still however, today its still an amazing experience, one which I really enjoyed, but one which may even change more in the years to come !!PS You may also enjoy my Gokyo/EBC video on my channel. Cheers Tony

which month you went there? whats the ideal season (least crowd, decent scenes etc) and, do you stay for a day at base camp or just touch down and return?
Hi, The best season is Oct/Nov for clear skies, best views and warmer weather, but yes more trekkers !!. And yes, just a touch down and return at EBC !! Most enjoyed part of trek (for us anyway) was Gokyo region, and Cho La Pass region and also view from Kalla Patha over Khumbu Glacier to Mt Everest and total region was breathtaking !!! (my video shows this well, I think!! ) Best wishes

Hi Tony, really nice video.. Could you please help me with the itinerary? I need some advise before go ahead.. thanks
Hi Fendy, I suggest you read my comment to Vicky H (2 yrs ago) for some basic track starting points, Basically we hiked two days on Mt Howitt track (but this could be much longer if you attempt the Cross Cut Saw return to Mt Speculation hike , 24.7 km grade 4 hike ! Our hike to Kali Karng was a 2 days return hike and then we camped at the start of the Guys Hut /Pieman Falls for two days. I strongly suggest you 'Google' the Alpine National Park referenced in Vicky H for some important info. I hope this helps a little. Enjoy
Compact, interesting and informative! Thanks!

Hi John,Thanks for your imspiring comment!!. (sorry for the delay in replying)
Did this hike in ‘97 and a lot has changed.I’m happy to see the local people doing better but sad to see how commercial it has gotten.
Yes ,I appreciate there must have been allot of changes since 1997 !! Many more teahouses, shops & facilities would have been constructed since then!!.But good for the locals, hey! !The road to Muktinath has had an profound effect on the trek. Unpleasant trekking on or close to a road with transport !!! That's why we took a jeep on this short section. Overall however an incredible experience and still one I'd recommend !! Did you watch my Everest BC/Gokyo UA-cam. ???Absolutely my favorite trek.!!!Amazing scenery !! Cheers

Hi, If as you said ,'later this year' is October/November then its good weather to trek ABC. Warm days in the lower regions, cool to cold around the sanctuary. But in this (beautiful) mountain region the weather can change very quickly so be prepared for all weather conditions. Cheers TT
This is a great film - loved it. Thanks for posting and well done mate!
Hi Chris, Thanks for your comment . Much appreciated
@@tonytonkin8315 My pleasure Tony - I was in the Sanctuary a couple of years ago. A very special place. Your film brought back many happy memories.
Apart from the STEPS!!!!
Yes I agree with you, the Sanctuary is a very special place, but OH!!! those STEPS!! I've tried to convey the amount of climbing/descending those steps in the vid via the days trek stats, but I think this message gets 'lost" on many viewers. If you haven't trekked Gokyo/Everest BC,(my favourite Nepal trek),if you like take a look at the scenery on my vid...awesome trek!! I'll post link separately.

What time of the year was this?
Hi Nino, I did this trek mid October 2018,generally the time of year with good clear weather.
Tony Tonkin Planning to do Nov 2020
The weather should be good. Enjoy the trek and the scenery, particularly around ABC, its sensational!!
Our capital Kathmandu looks very polluted and lacks good roads . Other things are great .
I'm told by my friend appearing in this vid and now in staying in Kathmandu before starting another trek, that many roads in Thamel have been built since my vid of 2016. Also much construction work is happening at the airports. This is good news. The trekking will always be great.
Beautiful!
Fair play to you Tony boy. I will be doing the same trek in November. Hope I make it.
Hi Stephen, you have plenty of time to train your legs for the ABC trek. Make sure you do allot of training by climbing hills. You may have noticed the climbing/descending stats on my video !! It is a demanding trek with allot of climbing and descending . So if you do the right preparation and training you'll really enjoy the trek. Good luck.
@@tonytonkin8315 Last year I did the Ghorapani trek and found it quite easy until I woke up at 5.00am to climb Poon Hill. I had high altitude sickness but did the climb even though at one stage I was going to turn back. I plan to do it in 5 days from Ghandruk and 1st night in Chomrong. 2nd night in Dovan. 3rd in MBC so if I am sick I should be able to get up to ABC, take photos etc and get back down to Dovan/Bamboo. I have been looking at lots of ABC treks and yours is the one that most suits me with time etc. As you say, that stats were very helpful. I am training all the time so fitness isn't a problem its the altitude. I am 60 btw. Thanks again for a great video and your reply.
@@stephenobrien5909 I've trekked Annapurna Circuit and the EBC/Gokyo trek, and on both you MUST acclimatise at about 3500 mts. (Poon Hill 3210mts ) (2 nights sleep at 3500mts and climb 500 mts and descend ) otherwise you'll get sick at 5000mts.....so important !! On ABC I was surprised, it didn't appear to be an issue with my trekking company ,no-one talked about alt. sickness !! Don't mind admitting getting to MBC, early arvo, I was light headed ( possibly slight alt. effect)and then slept/ rested all arvo and night. Felt OK for my 5am start !! To me, the whole reason to do the trek centres around your time at ABC 4130mts. Hopefully you'll get great weather like me to enjoy the incredible scenery of the ABC and the Machapuchare region, its extraordinary !!! . So don't rush to get up and down, take your time here to enjoy the scenery and experience !! I know it would be difficult (its very busy at MBC) but ONLY if you feel 'very ordinary" at MBC maybe consider another night here before going ahead. PS. age has nothing to do with alt sickness, I've seen 25 year old's very sick at Manage from going ahead and not acclimatizing. And I'm over 65yo !!! Hope this helps, any questions please ask !! . You might like to watch my other Nepal vids so I'll send the links later .

Which month did you do the Annapurna Circuit.
Hi Marion, we did the trek in the month of October. This time of the year(Oct/Nov) usually get fine weather. I also trekked Gokyo/Everest & Annapurna Base Camp in the same month, different years, and had the great weather !! Cheers
Cool.. Thanks! Follow up.. Is there a specific reason for the Jeep part? Did you run out of time or something like that?
A large part of the trek from Jomsom to Tadapani is on the road (built to allow worshipers to get to 'holly" Muktinath) and its long/mainly flat/dusty and not that interesting so were advised to hire the jeep!! Pleased we did !! .If you look on my vid you can see a few trekkers on the road) Many trekkers stop their trek at Jomson and fly back to KMD .
