Nice those new dafs - Huh! the steering wheel button is the same as the merc actros? - a much more sensible and ergonomic design, with a switch thing on the column like scannys and 'ol dafs, you have only one hand to position the wheel, but the foot button releases that extra limb! I bet you looked up and down that steering wheel column for ages lol! I got a 0500 start monday taking our 19 plate 480 and ready loaded trailer down to Newton Abbott heathfield to tip then phone in and find out my next destination! Keep on truckin' me old mucka! :)

That village of Pensford is very tight. I had a situation with a bin wagon there. It was on a bend and was signaled to overtake. A tipper in the opposite direction suddenly appeared. We eventually managed to get passed each other but was a nightmare 😅

I'm in a Culina Scania R450, they're decent. I actually rate the DAF that you drive normally. I find them really lovely to drive but they have too many alarms, bongs and error messages

A road I know fairly well as I have a friend who lives just off the A37 in Knowle which is the first part of Bristol proper. That second tight bit on the hill in Pensford was deliberately left like that by the council to act as a natural traffic calming, so I`ve been told. The hedge could easily be cut back which would save lots of mirrors and make life easier, but no, they persist in leaving it tight to the kerb!

The reservoir on your left you talked about was Booth Wood res..The one on your Right hand side was Scammonden Dam Res..Ladybower is a fair way away from there on the A57…That big Bridge you went under at Scammonden is a notorious bridge known for people sadly jumping from when things get too much to bare… Also Fred Dibnah was the only person ever to drive his steam tractor engine over that bridge with his good pal Alf in his last Tv programme Just before he passed away.. Bless him .

The Lane closure just after J 19 is to do with the Bridge replacement which is closing the M62 all next weekend. Thats what is causing the queue just before Birch Services.

The "grease" is sap washed out the trees by the rain. I once destroyed a Citroen ZX with a skid in a section like that, and local Scottish policeman knew what the issue was.

Spaghetti Junction is constantly being repaired, this time you weren't near it, if you had carried on along the M6 you would have gone through it. Frankley Services isnt too far from me, I havent been there for years - in my late teens/early 20's, I would go there for hot chocolate as did my mates. We would get in off the motorway and go out the staff entrance round the back and onto the lane.

The slip road the van came from is difficult at the best of times to cut right over to continue on the M8, otherwise it would have had to continue on the M74

That's exactly why I've started indicating on bends like that. We shouldn't have to, but it does seem to prevent it.

As you’ll know there’s roadworks on the M8 in Glasgow and it’s actually down to the uprights being repaired underneath. Been going on for a couple of years already and they’ve said it will be at least 2025 now ! So,years is the answer lol

Know that road very well drive it often in the tipper, proper narsty tight bends on that bit.
