My biggest complaint of the movie was the everything seemed to happen to fast- the embro implantation, the chestburster growth. The growth of the "newborn" seemed way too quick as well, imo. I kinda liked the look of it. I thought it was interesting. The Android didn't really have to be so simplistic but i kinda understand where they were going with the concept, its a very old, obsolete model. There really isn't any aging when they're in cryogenic stasis. Thats the point. The baby would cease to mature until after the mother came out of cryostasis. It be the same thing if a person with a chestburster inside where to be put into cryostasis. Chances are it would freeze the gestation. BUT Does "diversity" in it's current context really have to matter?

The story is very Very dense, so I totally get not everyone is going to like or even understand it. What you said earlier is correct, just about everything here is important when viewed across the entire saga which spans 6 books (there are many other books but the traditionalist fans among us only acknowledge the 6 books by the original author) Suffice it to say appearing to be a white-savior or orientalist purely an illusion to anyone who is not aware of the full arc of these characters and their families. The whole saga goes into some great depth as to why that's not the case.

Ive been a fan for years. The tv show is vastly different from the books is a lot of ways. If youre a puritan for adaptions its terrible. However as it is on its own its brilliant and its a shame it didnt continue. But the books are worth the read. Just be prepared for a lot of heart break. Especially book 11

I liked it for what it was. I didn’t understand every joke but, got what they were going for. The horror elements were a little goofy for my taste. I’d say for me it was a solid one time watch but, I had a fun enough time at the theater.

Dislikes flounder design, the new songs minus the Ariel one. Scuttle jokes didn’t land. No king tritons castle underwater his treasures are in the middle of the ocean for anyone to steal. No explanation as to what happened with Ursula and tritons split to the bro/sis relationship.

I liked Ariel’s blue dress, the shipwreck scene and Ursula.

I didn’t watch the movie yet but I’m wondering what’s going on with the costumes, I’ve seen cosplayers in really nice dresses like Ariel wears in the animated one, I wonder why they went in such a different direction with the costumes. I saw a photo of the actress at the Disney parks wearing the blue dress from the live action and it was pretty bland, I wish they just put her in the turquoise dress Ariel usually wears.

Loved this movie, but also disliked Eric being adopted. I thought that would lead to some revelation in the end -- who were Eric's real parents? What were they doing out at sea? Did King Triton kill them to avenge his wife's death by humans? Are they still alive and just presumed dead? But NOPE. Nothing is revealed about Eric's parentage. I even if he wasn't adopted, Eric would still feel confined in the castle and want to explore the sea. Eric was like a male Moana, trying to balance his political duties with his love of sailing.
