Welcome! As of now, I’m into long-term, slow travel in Mexico (Mexico City, Merida, Puebla) with future plans of slow traveling in Southeast Asia.
I studied various cultures in college, which sparked my curiosity about how people live today, from daily routines to modern lifestyles. Whether I’m hanging out where the locals go or enjoying the touristy spots, I embrace both sides of the experience.
I also explore lifestyle topics, blending travel tips with personal growth and living authentically. California feels like home for now, but I’m open to finding a place where I feel an even stronger sense of belonging.

As promised in the video, here are three reasons why this experience might not be for you: 1. Early Start: You’ll need to wake up quite early, as arriving by 4:30 a.m. is required. Booking an Airbnb nearby might be a good idea. If you're not a fan of early mornings, there’s also the option to go kayaking at sunset, though I haven't tried that myself. 2. Physical Demand: Rowing can be tiring, es...

2024: we visited Acapulco in Guerrero, one of Mexico's most dangerous states 💀| Hurricane Otis 🌀
Переглядів 6907 місяців тому
Here are more helpful tips if you want to visit Acapulco post Hurricane Otis 👀: ➡️ 1. If you booked a hotel outside the main tourist area, take the bus that says "BASE" on it; this bus will transport you to the tourist area. ➡️ 2. One of the cheapest ways to reach Acapulco from Mexico City is by van booked through BlaBlaCar. It's surprisingly comfortable. Direct message me for more information....
We've been traveling and living in central Mexico for 2 years. The pollo asado places are always our go-to for takeaway we can make several meals from. Also, when we find tamales we really like we buy up extras to wrap in foil and freeze. Just reheat them in the oven in the foil. They do really well that way.
That’s an interesting idea. I’ve never tried reheating frozen tamales in the oven before. I should give that a try sometime! I usually just keep them in the fridge and eat them within a week or so, which I never have an issue with, lol
Thank for showing another part of this great city. Most ppl only show roma, reforma, polanco. The whole city has great neighborhoods.
@@toolrammsteindeftones for sure no problem! Happy to share and yes, Mexico does have many great neighborhoods
Yup, to clarify, there are roaches/rats/mosquitoes/gangsters/Mafia/bad people all over the world (everywhere). I've also lived and know many places all over the united states (USA/America) that have all those things.
In the future I hope can know Mérida :) Good video.
Thank you! Yes, Merida is a beautiful place
Great video Alan. Deciding to explore has really paid off for you to learn more about this great country!
Thanks Michael. It’s good to hear from you again and I’m glad you enjoyed the video. Exploring has definitely been rewarding and Mexico is a great country, that’s for sure! I hope everything is going well on your end and that your visit to Coyoacan went smoothly. I hope you found what you were looking for there
@@alanroams good hearing from you Alan. Are you still living in Merida? We are in fact moving to CDMX in about three weeks! We have chosen Escandon, up north but did really like Coyoacan. Couldn’t find anything in Coyoacan in our budget but looking forward to the move. Keep up the good work and maybe we can touch base at some point.
@@michaelbaker3765 Thanks Michael! Appreciate that. I’m actually not in Merida anymore. I’ve visited Escandon a few times and it seemed like a great neighborhood with a nice vibe. Congrats on the move to CDMX! I hope the transition goes smoothly. And yes, it would be nice to touch base sometime
Hi, glad you had adjusted to a new colture... You are in Mexico not Las Americas, the continent is called America, The USA is not America the entire continent is.
The “Las Americas” he was referring to is a neighborhood in Merida. He wasn’t talking about the continent’s. lol
@@andrewadams9466 Well ok, I did not know Merida had a neighborhood called las americas. his way of speaking was a bit misleading.
Thanks! Appreciate it!
Thanks for this video. It's helpful. I would like to visit Mexico sometime soon
No worries at all! Happy to help!

Right, it's super early, but it was definitely worth it. They also have a kayaking session to see the sunset, but I’ve never tried it before
Look nice out there thanks for sharing!
Everywhere in the world can be dangerous. Even in the United States. I visited Acapulco las week and it was incredible, I had a blast.
Good info. And it feels like a true mexican Chinese food mixed culture. ♥️🇲🇽🇨🇳🇺🇸
Thanks for your comment! I’m glad you found the info helpful. It’s amazing how Mexican and Chinese cultures come together to create such unique and delicious experiences.
Are there any specific sites that you’d recommend that I check to find a 6 month rental in the area? Thanks for sharing!
I primarily use Airbnb for monthly bookings, and if I like a place, I sometimes negotiate with the host to extend my stay and pay outside of Airbnb to reduce costs. Additionally, joining Facebook groups can be another option to find long-term rentals
Go gentrify someone else's neighborhood
Slow-madding all over Mexico.....
Thanks for watching and commenting! Yes, slow-madding across Mexico has been great so far
Great video, Alan! Does your neighborhood have issues with brownouts or blackouts? I work 100% online, and I'm considering a move to Mexico. I know that Mexico City has great infrastructure, but I'm concerned about the outlying areas, specifically issues with power outages that would impact my ability to work remotely. Thanks!
Thanks! I'm the same. I work 100% online too. I've had issues when the electricity went out during heavy rain, affecting the Wi-Fi, but it never lasted more than a day. This has only happened to me a few times so I wouldn't worry too much
Nice thanks
For sure no problem. Glad you enjoyed the video
Very informative, thank you!
Of course, no problem!

IMPORTANT INFO BELOW IF YOU’RE SERIOUS ABOUT VISITING HERE: I want to give you a heads-up about safety in this area. Opinions vary among locals. Some say it’s safe, while others are more cautious. I suggest visiting during the day and avoiding nighttime just to be on the safe side. Also, we faced a significant language barrier. Most of the Chinese residents here don’t speak English or Spanish. Lastly, many stores and restaurants stay open later into the late afternoon/evening. For a better experience, consider visiting in the late afternoon or early evening while it’s still daylight.
Hi may i know name of your airbnb thanks
