The 1994 Brickyard 400 was held on Saturday, August 6, 1994, at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The race marked the nineteenth race of the 1994 NASCAR Winston Cup Series season. It was the first NASCAR stock car race at the famous Speedway and the first race of any kind held at the track besides the Indianapolis 500 since the Harvest Classic in 1916. The race featured the largest crowd in NASCAR history, and a then NASCAR record purse of $3.2 million.

Refuse to Lose: Jeff Gordon and the 1997 Daytona 500
Переглядів 40 тис.5 років тому
A revealing and personal look at Jeff Gordon, Ray Evernham, and the 24 team in the 12 days leading up to their victory in the 1997 Daytona 500. \ #JeffGordon #Daytona500 #WinstonCup #RayEvernham #RickHendricks #Dupont #DaleEarnhardt #NASCAR
Back when speedweeks was really awesome. I was born and raised and still live 20 mins west of Daytona International Speedway and the 1997 Busch Clash was my first race I was 9 years old at the time, sitting in turn 3
Fight me, Evernham was so handsome back in the day
I hated Jeff back then. I couldn’t tell you why. I was a kid who got tired of watching him win. I was wrong. He was great and NASCAR was at its peak then and I wish I would’ve just enjoyed it more and appreciated Jeff for what he was: a great driver.
I thought watching me would help fill my NASCAR fix leading up to the 500 (still 9 days to go), but I was completely wrong. I’m more hyped than I was before I turned this on! I just want the season to start already.
Jeff Gordon is the best driver ever. If the points system stayed the same, he would have 7 titles. Or, alternatively, if he and Ray had stayed together he would have 7 also.
I was a Dale Sr fan, my mother (RIP) was a Rusty Wallace fan. We both had to bite out Gordon/Evernham disgust and admit that what they did in the 1997 Daytona 500 was beyond amazing. They overcame a bad qualifying run, an okay 125, a setback in happy hour, and they out maneuvered the Great Team of Dale Earnhardt Sr/Richard Childress in passing the #3 to get into contention, and then passing Bill Elliott to win. Refuse to Lose is their perfect motto, I hated Jeff Gordon in my teenage years, now I show this, and Dale Sr's final victory to my football teams that I coach on not only, not giving up, but refusing to lose. I Love this Film, God Bless Jeff, Ray, and of course Dale Sr!!!!
Lol how the sport has changed. Not only does Dale come off the ambulance, but he rides back to pit road with no helmet on. The good old days
It’s truly heartwarming, the tears in Jeff‘s eyes make me cry too
the kinda guy that dale was... he raced hard and he respected being raced hard... losing him was a big loss for the sport because of how he respected the sport
cant believe i was there at that last Jeff Dover win
This was gold!!! Wish ray would’ve stayed in 99!!
Man, look what he had. Those cars are so beautiful
my favorite racer of all time
Ned Jarrett As a commentator, Well he sucked with really bad bias toward Jeff Gordon against his worthless son Dale. Trying to portray his son as poor compared to Jeff, Disgusting.
lol I love how they always ignored Jeff Gordon in the early years. By the way I am now 62, This was my Hay day's of Nascar..............And they sucked even back then.
The song they made about KRUSTY By the Beatles "I am he as you are he as you are me And we are all together See how they run like pigs from a gun See how they fly I'm crying Sitting on a corn flake Waiting for the van to come Corporation T-shirt, stupid bloody Tuesday Man you've been a naughty boy You let your face grow long I am the egg man They are the egg men I am the WALRUS! Goo goo g'joob" HE IS THE walrus!
Oh look it's Spud rudd!
Krusty the wallrus!

Can't wait for that rainbow warrior to return to racing in a few days at indy. I hope he does well even tho he'll be driving a porsche.
How good was Jeff Gordon? I'm from Baltimore Maryland with no connections to NASCAR. But I'm a huge sports fan. Jeff Gordon got me to pay attention to NASCAR. Since he retired I have not watched a single race. He wasn't just great he made NASCAR popular to guys like me. NASCAR just hasn't been the same since he left. PS - Dale Earnhardt was the other reason. The day he died a lot of my passion for NASCAR died as well.
Is that Chad Knauss?
From 1994-2002 Jeff Gordon was the greatest driver in Nascar history. Winning the inaugural Brickyard 400, 2 Daytona 500 wins, 4 Championships.
Don’t forget the 1997 Winston million, the Coca-Cola 600 how many times in a row did he win the southern 500 it’s insane. His winning percentage was so astronomical that it’s hard to put into words.
"GRISSOM? Oh come on..."
Obviously Ray was very smart. But one way he was very smart was that he would play psychological warfare with Earnhardt and keep Jeff out of it so Jeff could focus on just racing. Because if Jeff became engaged in that psychological warfare Earnhardt would always win that battle.
Ray has better hair now than he did in 1997
I'm gonna present the still beating heart of Jeff Gordon to Bill Elliott.
Really? When?
Had never seen that footage of Dale Sr. getting out of the ambulance and taking his car off the wrecker to get it to pit road. Did he finish the race with that destroyed car? Legend.
He did indeed finish the race. One tough customer.
Awesome documentary! Cool to see the young Chad Knaus in there...who would go on to win 7 championships with Jimmie Johnson.
Great program. Those Rainbow Warriors were something special. No telling how many Cups they win if the band stays together.
Might have gotten the Gordon 24 over 100 wins.
In a way I think Dale pushed Jeff to be better. Treated him like a son he was training while competing against jim. RIP #3
I been following NASCAR since 1995 and I am absolutely still in love with this sport!!
Ya go up and ur complaining to NASCAR. LOL
Song at 30:18?
Happy birthday Jeff Gordon you are my favorite racer driver and I quit watching it because it's not on fox til next season
Air compressor and 3M scotch at the pit boxes - thats all you need.
Dale Jarrett wrecked twice in 15 laps...........LOL :P
Never was a Dale Jarrett fan
Let's all just sit back and agree that if Jeff and Ray would have stayed together until they both ended their careers, Gordon would have at least 7 championships. Speaking of that just learned that if the points system had stayed the same Jeff would have 7. Holy shit!
They'd probably have like 10 championships. Gordon was the most dominant driver I've ever seen from 95-99. He won 47 races in that span. To put into perspective just how insane that is, it took Jimmie his 5 championship seasons in a row, plus an additional 3 seasons to match that. So it took Jimmie 8 seasons to win as many races as Jeff did in only 5.
@@slimbrady6691 10.😂 Even tho he does not have the most wins or championships, there is still a solid argument to be made that he is likely the best race car driver ever.
1995 1997 1998 2001 2004 2007 2014
"Yea, I'm just a little confused on that deal there..." "Oppppp Ray..." 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Ray Evernham is the best leader I have ever watched and listened to. I would follow him to the gates of hell.
The "modified guy from new jersey" probably stopped working after their 1st championship. Also, look at fucking Chad Kanus! No wonder he won 7, he was taught by the great Ray Evernham. Also, they really were toasting 10 months early for a Championship! <3 #24ever
This was the day a legend was born
"Years from now when 79 stock car races are run here, you'll remember the name Jeff Gordon" He ain't wrong. 94, 98, 01, 04, 14 and his protege is running the Indy 500 this year after taking 7 NASCAR titles for himself with Gordon as owner.
I wish there were more content like this. It's almost like NASCAR's The Last Dance. You didnt get this access back then
The 2 dislikes are from Helton and Phelps lol
And RCR.
I really hope the Jeff Gordon haters from back then look back now and realize how dumb they acted.
What’s the intro song?
Lenny Kravits "Are you gonna go my way"
@@anthonynunyabizness9989 Thanks Man!!
11:15 did he cuss his ass out
"You lifted over there didn't you?" - Ray "I'm working on it." - Dale
The greatest Driver CC Ever
