I am Pattonkesselring. You're watching the show where a huge nerd rambles on about Sci-Fi, History, Anime, etc, basically whatever I decide to do. I am not here because I want to make money, or become famous or any of that, I am just a simple guy who wants to share his passions with the world, because if I wasn't passionate about something, I wouldn't be making a video about it.

it was widely used for reconnaissance and for commanders, they mass produced it so much, super useful for crossing marshes and rivers, also useful for its 4 wheel drive, allowing it to recon anywhere. If it was so useless, it wouldnt have been mass produced so much..

Can you do a video on your 10 top favorite 4-6-4 Hudson steam locomotives?
@@LukeLovesTrains-Mr.RailYard I can yes
You sound like you really hate these, did you have a relative die or something?
To me this is one of the all time coolest looking most exciting designs way more interesting than the F-16 etc.

Jet engine thrust is not measured in foot-pounds - that's a measure of torque. Jet engine thrust is expressed simply as pounds of thrust.
@@rbrtjbarber sorry, I’ll try to get it right in the next one.
I don't know who you are, and where you from, but I like your video
Thanks, I appreciate it. I’m just a guy who’s trying to make it in the maritime history field.
It looks like it could be 'Thunderbird 10', Gerry Anderson would be proud of it!
I have to take you to task regarding your opinion that the US Navy did not have a "great fighter for a long time" until the F-14 or F-18 because you've completely omitted the Vought F-8U Crusader which was designed as a fighter/interceptor in the 1950s. Perhaps Vought's F-7U Cutlass left a bad taste in your mouth, however, it's follow up plane more than redeemed Vought's reputation. The F-8 was a front line US Navy fighter for 19 years and photo-recon F-8s continued to fly off Navy carriers into the late 1980's. During Vietnam, the F-8 picked up the nickname "Mig Master" with a 19 to 3 kill ratio (19 Migs shot down to 3 Crusader losses). When the Navy started up the Fighter Weapons School (Top Gun) it was F-8s v F-4 Phantoms with the F-8 pilots often besting the F-4 pilot & rio crews. The Philippine Air Force and the French Navy also flew the Crusader. The PAF used them until 1988 and the French Navy flew them until 2000 when they were replaced by the Dassault Rafale. Finally, the F-8 was the basis for its mach 3 big-brother, the XF8U-3 Crusader III prototype (which could outfly the F-4 Phantom) as well as the A-7 Corsair II (which went on to have it's own long career as one the Navy's premier Attack planes). I suggest you do a profile on it.
@@rrrosadorr that’s true, f8 crusader was an excellent fighter, and the f4 was perfectly fine as well when used as intended or fitted out right. But I guess what I meant was the navy didn’t have a fighter that could really do both the fighter and interceptor role well (and I mean you could still argue that they didn’t as they had both in service) until the f14 and f18, but yeah, f8, great plane, gonna do a video on it at some point.
Truly this video is valuable training.
Thanks
Vought? Designed by WW2 German scientist? It's time to call Butcher! 😏
"Foot/pounds" is a measurement of torque, not thrust. Simple pounds are the proper phrase.
Thanks, I’ll get it right next time 😁
Love this!
Aww thanks so much
That's bullshit, the picture on this, is not a Alaskan vessel, it was the largest shrimp boat at the time in Bonsecoue Alabama
Pretty sure that’s the boat, but if you have a picture of it let me know.
Incorrect. The boat shown here is the Big Valley. She was a Gulf coast shrimper in the mid 70's (not sure where) and brought to Homer around 1977 to fish crab and shrimp. Last time I saw her was at King Cove in 1989.
@@denali9449 didn’t know she used to be a shrimper but now that you say it I can see it in her hull and house style, I assume she has had some modifications, with a new house built on the old one
@@pattonkesselring4247 She came up during the mad rush for crab in the late 70's. Guys were buying anything that floated to try and make a buck and the Gulf boats were cheap as well as readily available. The original wheelhouse was removed in the mid/late 80's and that monstrosity of a wheelhouse was added. That deckhouse was added later as she was also leased out as a research vessel. I heard they also installed a hot tub and a sauna but cannot testify to that. You can still see the rigging for the double-rigged shrimp trawls in her mast.
@@denali9449 yeah when you point that out I can see the setup for the rigging. That’s crazy! Also explains the low number of pots, 30 isn’t really enough to properly fish alaskan crab, it’s enough for like 1 string, even 50, which is overloaded for her, is like 2 strings at best maybe 3 short ones.
For a thorough technical dissertation on the operation of various valve-gears, visit you local library and get hold of a stack of "Model Engineer" magazines commencing with issue # 4718, Volume 230, 2nd June to 15th June. Author, Duncan Webster commences a multi-part series on a technically immersive description of just about every form and manner of steam-engine valve-gear known to man.
Thanks! I could definitely use that.
In the beginning of your video you say it was carrying a captain and five deck hands but they were never seen again…..except the one survivor…and recovered bodies…. Would have been a great video if the information was correct.

How did the F-11 Tiger 🐯 & the F-8 Crusader fare as Navy fighters ? They were supersonic, weren’t they ?
The Grumman F-11 was the US Navy's first supersonic fighter but it wasn't very successful due to inferior performance and range especially against the Vought F8 Crusader (I think that the F11 was only plane ever to shoot itself out of the sky but you can look that story up yourself) . The F11's frontline deployment was short and it was reassigned to Naval Air Training. The F11's fame came from being flown by the Blue Angels for about 12 years before being replaced by the F4 Phantom II. Entering US Navy service in 1957, The F8 Crusader was very successful aircraft for the US Navy and Marine Corps. First fighter to exceed 1,000 mph/1,609 kph, first supersonic trans-continental flight (California to New York in 3hrs, 23 minutes, 8.3 seconds), recon version photographed Soviet missile transfers to bases under construction in Cuba. The F8 was nicknamed "The Last of the Gunfighters" because it was designed with dogfighting in mind. All of the contemporaneous fighters in the Air Force's "Century Series" (and the Naval fighters under development such as the F4) were designed for missiles only air to air combat (BVR). Therefore, the F8 had the distinction of being the sole American fighter armed with internal guns (4 Colt Mk 12 20mm autocannons) deployed in the Vietnam War. Although the Navy replaced the F-8 with the McDonnell Douglas F4 Phantom II on it's larger carriers, F-8s continued to operate off of smaller Essex class carriers during Vietnam. The last active duty F-8 squadrons (deployed on board the USS Oriskany) were retired in 1976.

If your mansplaining "analysis" of this plane is a reason to judge it, I would say it was probably a great plane aerodynamically, which in fact it was.
It was, it was just a handful to fly
I don't care what anybody says. That thing looked great. All the other problems were clearly real. But I don't agree that it was particularly ugly. Kinda reminds me of some of the space fighter designs in Wing Commander. Maybe that's just me.

Akiza's Bloody Kiss was sadly a late addition to the cast in the later seasons. Real shock is how well she adapted to Turbo Duels. But she was underutilized in my opinion. As she was benched in the hospital after her first Grand Prix duel. And only got a few more in before the series final. But ever moment was as awesome as the girl herself. As fot Leo and Luna, I personally wish we got more of Luna dueling, as she only got 3 or 4 throughout the entire series. Only 1, maybe 2, of which could be called a win.
This was a classic case of the aircraft being ready before the engine(s). This would have been a wonderful aircraft if it had the thrust it needed.
That is basically hitting the nail on the head right there

Hey, I haven't been on there in a while but it is still active, been writing a lot for grad school so writing for leisure isn't really a priority, but I do still use it.
Not enough power, typical of many 1950s jets. There was a cutlass at Wheaton regional park near Washington D.C. back in the 60s when I was a little kid. A lot of fun climbing into the cockpit and into the air intakes.
A very common problem on jet fighters of the period, shame the F7U never got to shine, it’s quite interesting in a quirky way

I am not sure where that would be in full, but the first season of Deadliest Catch features clips from them, specifically of the Rosie G and American Star.
Good video
Why thank you very much I appreciate it. Thanks for watching.
Interestingly, among those pilots not killed by the Cutlass, the vast majority loved it and thought it was great fun to fly. The bulk of the problems were the unreliable engines and the experimental hydraulic system and it's inconsistent back up. One test pilot who flew the Cutlass in the Blue Angels as well stated that he had the most time as a passenger in a single seat aircraft, because when the hydraulic system failed it took 14 seconds for the back up to kick in.
The UA-cam algorithm gods have guided me
Same
Without the Cutlass, American cars of the 1950s and 60s wouldn’t have had tail fins. A car designer saw a Cutlass at an air show and it took a decade for the industry to get over them.
I didn’t know that, very cool, thanks
