    Thank you so much for this video. I am new to coloring and would like a blender pen for my pencils/watercoloring but have been unable to decide on which one. The Tombow has some good reviews. Can you advise me though what is in the blender pen, is it water (do you have to fill it) or has it some other liquid in it that I have to add to the barrel. I am a complete novice and apologise for my probably silly question! Thanks again for your great video.

      Hey, thanx for watching. No worries, your questions is not silly. You dont know what you dont know. The blender pen is just like all the other tombow pens except it has no colour pigment. So its basically a colourless marker. You dont need to add anything. You use it as is to blend the coloured markers. Hope this helps.

    Do you use something like a primer ? Do you have experience with acrylic colours with and without primer? Most primer are white and would over paint my dark edge from laser cutting. I only found one primer which is also wood stain. But don't know if it will work with acrylic paint. Btw where can I buy the roller from your video. Didn't find something similar

    • @theresacreativestudio
      @theresacreativestudio 3 місяці тому

      Hi, thanx for watching. I dont normally use primer. If I have to choose a primer I normally use gesso. Gesso comes in clear, white and black. If the primer is water based (cleans up with water) then acrylic paint should stick to it. Test it first. I bought my brayer at a craft store. Mine is a soft rubber brayer.

    Hi. Thank you for this enlightening video. I find it very helpful. Still I have the following problem/question: I do many laser cut projects using 4 - 8 mm thick plywood sheets. Whatever setting I use when cutting, there is always an amount of scorching on the cut edges. I can get rid of some of the scorching by sanding and / or a spirit-wet cloth. In any case, some scorching remains which is not nice. If I choose to paint with acryl with the intent to cover all sides then everything is fine, but in most cases I prefer to use only a transparent coating as I like to keep the wood grain visible. In these cases I wish to cover only the edges with some non-transparent coating in order to disguise the scorching. The problem lies in painting these thin surfaces without touching the large surfaces. Even with the smallest brush I find this almost impossible. Do you please have some advice? Many thanks, Emanuel

    • @theresacreativestudio
      @theresacreativestudio 4 місяці тому

      Thanx for watching. Glad you found this helpful. Unfortunately scorched edges is unavoidable with laser cutting wood. I have made peace with it and tend to just paint the edges if I want metallic or glitter on the edges. I use a sponge to paint the edges, but you still sometimes get paint on the surface. I just wipe with wet cloth as I work. It is a lot of work to paint the edges and that is why I mostly leave them as is. Try a sponge to paint the edges and see if that will work for you.

    Hi, do you also paint the sides? I have large pieces of laser cut layered designs and I would like to paint the sides as well to cover up the dark burnt sides. Making sure all exposed surfaces are covered. Also do you apply a top coat or a seal to protect the paint? I am painting 3mm MDF so I presume I need to apply a base coat first.

    • @theresacreativestudio
      @theresacreativestudio 4 місяці тому

      Thanx for watching. I dont always paint the sides. Depends on the project. A good opaque acrylic paint will cover the burned sides. I will paint them with a roller or sponge. I never use a base coat but you can use gesso as a base. Most of my projects are for indoor use so I dont seal, but you can use a spray varnish if you want to seal.

    • @theresacreativestudio
      @theresacreativestudio 4 місяці тому

      No worries. We all need to start somewhere and sometimes the info can be a bit confusing or overwhelming. The brayer is from a letter press set. But it is basically a soft rubber brayer. You also get hard rubber brayers for lino printing. Most art/craft shops will sell brayers. Get a soft rubber one. When using the brayer with acrylic paint you need to clean it immediately with water. I have a tub of water on my desk and normally just chuck the brayer in there to soak. If the paint goes hard on the brayer it is a bit of a hassle to get it off, scraping with a knife sometimes helps but most of the time the paint stays stuck. So just clean your brayer asap after use.
