Exercise - it's not WHAT, but rather HOW
It’s not WHAT exercise you’re doing, but rather HOW you’re doing the exercise that’s important. Every exercise needs the core to protect the spine and to regulate intra-abdominal pressure. You MUST learn how to use your core first. Sometimes poor form is because the weight you’re trying to lift is too heavy for you, FOR NOW. You can increase the weight, slowly and progressively. But first, you ...

Breathing into your pelvic floor
Tension in the pelvic floor can be the root of problems such as leaking urine and pelvic pain. We often hold tension in our pelvic floors, from consciously trying to tighten it (by doing lots of kegels), from stress, from being afraid to leak, or from postures that keep the pelvic floor in a state of tension. Here’s an exercise to try to see if you’re holding tension in any part of your pelvic ...

Hello mam i have same prblm how to recover?
Hi mam ,I have diastisis recti since 5 years.my belly looks like 8 months pregnant. How long it takes to cure it😢
Yes❤
I’m more confused now, are not Kegels supposed to be good for stress incontinence?
Kegels do have a place in pelvic floor health, but not nearly as much as was previously thought. In many, if not most, cases, stress incontinence is because the pelvic floor is too tight. This video shows what happens when someone always keeps the pelvic floor in a tight state. Tight doesn't mean strong and can seriously weaken the pelvic floor and lead to or increase the incidence of stress incontinence.
Hi I want to join your session
Hi. You can find out more about my in-depth online course and also buy it on my website: www.improvingcorefunction.com/the-program/. The course includes a free check-in session with me. I'd love to help you.
Thank you!!!!
There are no words to express how grateful I am for this video. I pray you receive all the blessings and happiness in the world. I am so so grateful for you and your videos. Especially this one. So genius on how you made a visual aid to help us understand. Without that visual aid I wouldn't have had any idea what you were saying. Thank you again, SO SO VERY MUCH!!!!

I'm so happy that you found it helpful. Thanks for your feedback.
Hi... Could you help out as to what to do if your upper ab is getting more gripped, while exhaling. In relaxed state also it is so... When i consciously loose it only it gets loosened
That's often because your stronger, more superficial (outer) oblique muscles are taking on the work of the inner, deeper core muscles. You need to make sure that you are activating your deeper core and then use them together with the obliques and recti muscles.
I am 36 and no matter what I do I unable to loose fat..delivered baby 5 years ago normal delivery
I don't have enough information to comment. Is losing weight your main goal? Is your core weak? If you want to lose weight, you should strength train with weights (starting where is appropriate for you and build slowly) so that you build lean muscle which will raise your metabolism. To do that you need to know how to activate your core as every exercise uses the core. If you want to schedule a free zoom assessment call, let me know.

Hi. I also responded to your comment on another video. Copying here: I would be happy to help you. How you stand, sit, move, breathe, etc. may be putting pressure on your abdominal wall and pelvic floor. Hi. Firstly, please know that I post ALL videos in 2 languages so you should search for the English version. I would be happy to help you. It's important that you know that there isn't one or even 10 exercises for diastasis recti. How you stand, sit, move, breathe, etc. may be putting pressure on your abdominal wall and pelvic floor. Hi Mam. I dont understand what do you mean by lifting up pelvic floor. I am unable to follow what is mentioned in video 6:17 6:
Hi. The very short answer is: please watch this video on my channel ua-cam.com/video/PBUMaiPhZpY/v-deo.html However, this video is only 15 seconds long. Many people push down on the pelvic floor when they exhale and that can be harmful. In my online course I go into great detail about how to activate the pelvic floor and the whole core to support whatever activity you are doing. Hope this helps.

Three years ago at age 71 I was attacked and kicked and dragged on my stomach. The result was a torn diaphragm with only 30% left to power all respiration. Have had a miraculous recovery by using various deep breathing techniques. It taught me to never take "simple breathing " for granted again. Great video.
OMG! I'm so sorry to hear about what must have been an extremely traumatic experience. I assume you had your torn diaphragm surgically repaired. Yes, breathing is connected to every single one of our functions and so many people take it for granted. Until you struggle to breathe. I hope people don't wait until they have a traumatic experience to appreciate this important life force.
Ma'am how can I contact u..I want to join the course to cure hernia and disatatic
Hi. You can see more information (and buy the course) at www.improvingcorefunction.com or write to me at improvingcorefunction@gmail.com Please know that the only way to 'cure' a hernia is through surgery as a hernia is a hole and no amount of exercise will fix that. However, exercise and body patterns can prevent it from getting worse - it's important to learn how to manage your intra-abdominal pressure. I'd be happy to help you.
@@improvingcorefunction8101hello mam how to contact you?
Thank you for these videos!
You're welcome. I hope you find them useful.
I’m definitely starting today! I’ll be adding these videos to my little mini series that I have in order to naturally heal my Diastasis Recti and hernia. I wish I would have found these videos when I was pregnant, but I’m happy I was led here today to further educate myself of how to properly heal my body.
Great to hear. Please remember that only surgery can heal a hernia, as it is a hole, and no amount of exercise can fix that. However, most people don't do anything about it as it's not a medical issue. If you would like a more thorough, systematic and progressive way to heal, my online program will guide you step by step. See: www.improvingcorefunction.com. Happy to help.
Hmmm…So my core muscles have gotten so week over the last 13 years because I have been at a desk job. If I gather what you are saying plus add that my front abdominal muscles go into really bad spasms when I do crunches…It’s might be because my inner core and back muscles are actually the weakest from not being used as much? I need to ponder and experiment with this.
Not sure how to answer as I don't have enough information. See what happens when you do stabilizing abdominal exercises, like plank, making sure you're still using your pelvic floor and TA. If you spend a lot of time sitting, see if you can take short, frequent 'movement breaks' throughout the day. If you're able to also fit in a short workout, that would be most helpful.
Plz reply i am suffering same problem.
Hi. This woman did my online course and really learned how to effectively activate her abdominal muscles and, as you can see, it made a huge difference. Please check out my course at www.improvingcorefunction.com/the-program/ It includes a free zoom check-in with me. I'd be happy to help.

@@improvingcorefunction8101 my diastasis recti was 3 fingers wide and about 3cm deep. Now I'm about 1.5 fingers wide and less than 2cm deep. I'm still working on it after 5 years😂
Omg same. I have had 4 kids in 6 years. Im so tired of repairing my core over and over year after year! 😂
Can you help with diastasis recti? 4 children, natural births, last baby was 4.5kg at age 46. Do you have a program? Regards Roxanne South Africa
How do I do this??
It's a combination of things (all included in my online course). You need to see if any of your body patterns, e.g. breathing, alignment, lifting, moving, etc. are putting excessive pressure on your abdominal wall and pelvic floor. Then it's important to make the brain/muscle connection to make sure that you are activating the deep core and not only the outer, stronger muscles. Once you know that you are, then you slowly, progressively and systematically increase the load to make the exercise harder so that the muscles and connective tissue become stronger.
Can this help or hurt diastasis recti?
It's never about the exercise, but rather HOW you are doing the exercise. These exercises are among many included in my program. However, first you need to know how to activate all the core muscles, including the deep core, so that you will know how to safely do any exercise that your fitness level allows, and to progressively increase your load to increase your fitness level.
It's all about 'how' you do the exercise. Can you lift your pelvic floor and draw in your abdominal wall while you do these?

Hi maam am dharvesh from bangalore 34 years old i hav DR and umbilical hernia i want to buy ur course but its very expensive cna u pls give me some discount
Is hernia cured by doing exercise mam?
No, only surgery can repair a hernia, as a hernia is a hole. However, exercise can reduce the pressure on the area and the appearance may improve. Learning how to manage intra-abdominal pressure will also prevent the hernia from getting worse.
@@improvingcorefunction8101 thanks for ur reply mam. I have an umbilical hernia after my 2nd c section. I just want to cure it without surgery. Can u please tell me how to live with hernia
@@dare2dream393 Is your concern mainly aesthetic? If so, exercise can help the look of the hernia, up to a point. Again, only surgery can repair a hernia. Almost all of my clients who have an umbilical hernia choose not to have surgery and learn how to manage intra-abdominal pressure.
Its great to have a guide through this journey of healing. Thank you for guiding us through.
My pleasure. Please remember that I post all videos twice, in 2 languages: English and Hebrew. Please choose the language in which you wish to view the video. 🙂
Did her umbilical hernia reduce
Only the appearance of it. The only way to repair a hernia is through surgery though most people don't need it for medical reasons. In her case, the appearance of the hernia improved slightly.
Thanks. I’m afraid of being judged when I return to work 😣
I hear you. Please know that often the way you stand and move might be putting pressure on your abdominal wall, making your belly look bigger than it is. What about ceserean delivery
Have you had a cesarean? In a C/S they don't cut the muscles but rather the connective tissue between the muscles and then stretch the muscles apart and hold them apart with retractors. Research says that a C/S doesn't make the diastasis worse and all pregnant women have a diastasis at the end of pregnancy. Whether or not the diastasis improves after birth (C/S or vaginal) is largely a matter of genetics and exercise can certainly help improve your core - both in aesthetics and in function.
She's pregnant again????
It's so important that women don't let DR define them or limit them and that they carry on with their lives. She is working on it and doing really well.
Excellent advice 👌🏽👌🏽 As a mother of 4, I experienced this tremendously, and I never thought about how it affected the baby as well😮
It is a normal, natural thing to do - if we're not aware of the possible implications. Moms often ignore the effect on their bodies, so I tried to show that it may also affect their babies - might help moms take it more seriously. Thanks for your comment.
