ATUS Maintenance Visit & SHIFT First Light at SRO, June 2024
Maintenance and modifications at the Astronomical Telescope of the University of Stuttgart (ATUS) at Sierra Remote Observatories (SRO), followed by a "First Light" measurement campaign of the Shack-Hartmann Wavefront Sensor Fast Tracked (SHIFT) Instrument which was originally intended for the Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA).

Time lapse of Friday night's aurora shots from Palo Alto's Bayshore National Preserve with my 16 years old DSLR (Canon 450D) and a Wallimax 8mm f/3.5 fisheye lens; 30s exposures. 1s in the video equals 1 min in real life (= 2 fps). Preparations at NASA Ames and setup of the remote telescope system at Sierra Remote Observatories (SRO) on 24 September 2013. This telescope is owned by the University of Stuttgart, Germany and operated in partnership with the German SOFIA Institute (DSI). It has been replaced by a fully redesigned Mk II model in May 2015.
