Hey there!👋
So if you're working on a game and want to create a rain weather effect, but you're not quite sure how to go about it, I'm here to tell you that it's actually not that hard. In this video, I'll show you step-by-step how to create one from scratch in Unity, and actually, I use the same effect in my own game "Hooked", a casual, cozy isometric fishing game I'm working on.

I hoped there will be w mobile version to enjoy and support this game even when outside we can still play the game
That's the goal.
What engine? Do you recommend an engine or from scratch for an advanced frontend web dev who is picking up game dev? Do you have a post on your collision solution in Unity? Does it have a modern solution these days or not? is a pure code solution easier to handle for collision in isometric? For online capabilities, I found pure code solutions easier, especially when you also want to couple a website and sell items, linking the website with Unity, and the DB was very taxing compared to my own code I was familiar with. Thoughts?
Awesome. I've now decided I want to make some sort of turn-based strategy game, in C. I'm a complete beginner. I don't care.
Привет! Почему ты перестал снимать видео?
bruh, where are you.
I love how most devs start with developing "something" and then realize 1 year in they have everything implemented fundamentally incorrectly and their game design makes no sense. START. WITH. PAPER. DESIGN.
I totally agree but it seems not to be the case here. I see that the dev is reacting and still commenting so im guessing they are just really busy and dont have time for devlogs. They are probably more active on discord.
no more news?
Jesus Christ, the feature list is a behemoth. I'd highly recommend reducing scope.
Just added to wishlist! cant wait, looks so cute - based on the looks, i'd defs be playing this on stream :)
Thank you so much! That means the world to me.
yo, so long to next release video
One word more than any other turns me off even looking at a game - COSY.
What engine are/did you use for development for Hooked?
I use Unity.
Come back
My dude... not to be mean or anything but when you make a video about developing a cozy game then maybe starting the video with that music while talking like you have exactly 10 seconds to convince us to buy a ferrari isn't... quite the vibe. Not quite what I came here for. The candle doesn't really balance that out ya know.
The graphics look really good
Thank you!!
At 2:03 what program is that for your organization of the game and features?
Hey! That's Milanote.
@@LostGameDev Thank you!
Hey friend, will there be a third devlog coming up?
I haven't left a comment in years, but this was just prefect so i had to thank you. Well done! 👍👍
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm glad you found the video helpful!
did you just eat a bowl of raisins
Sorry Ive been doing pixel art everything is 16x16
Please make the game have split screen couch CO-OP and on playstation and i'm hooked.... :P Not a lot of such games for couples that wants to play together on big tv...
I had a hard time following the video because the music was quite loud, making it difficult to focus on your words. Additionally, your speaking pace felt a bit fast, which made it challenging to follow along with the distracting music volume. Lastly, varying your tone could help maintain viewer interest. Just some honest feedback from my experience.
I really appreciate your honest feedback!
This looks great! This is super inspiring as an aspiring dev. I'm excited to watch the rest of your devlogs. I wanted to ask, what tools are you using for your art?
Thank you! I'm glad to hear that. For pixel art I use Aseprite.
did you quit?
No.☺I'm currently focused on a big update, and I'll release a detailed devlog once it's ready. In the meantime, you can catch regular updates and sneak peeks on Discord and Patreon.
lol have you seen the other "Hooked!" game on Steam... :DDDDD omg
Wishlisted
Thank youu!
Cozy games are fails.
Shouldn't you be prototyping the game first instead of working on details like camera sway and pixel art?
The art style is so beautiful... I wish I could draw so well...
Thank you! I'm really glad you like the art style. Practice makes perfect, and I'm sure you'll develop your own unique style in no time!
Come back to this dude
I haven't gone anywhere. I'm working on a major update, and a detailed devlog will be released once it's ready. In the meantime, I'm active on Discord and Patreon, where I regularly share sneak peeks and updates.
Awesome content dude, liked and subscribed.
Please make a Day and Night cycle as well. I really like the style you did in your previous episode.
Hey! Thanks for the suggestion. I'm currently working on a major game update, including an upgrade to the day-night cycle 😊. I'm focused on finalizing everything so I can put together a new devlog. But, I've noted your idea and plan to create a tutorial for it in the future! I might also share the day-night cycle code on my Patreon if you're interested and want early access.
@@LostGameDev No pressure man, I am sure you're very busy. Your work inspired me further to pursue game dev. Thank you.
Super inspiring and honestly a great video. Good stuff dude
Thank you!!
I need to do some checking around. Would reeeeally love to learn how you did your isometric sorting using that line script you mentioned
Hey! The script I used was made by Scott Steffes, and he has a UA-cam video that walks you through how it works. There are a few scripts in the package, but you just need to attach one to your game objects to get them sorted. 😊
@@LostGameDev thanks 😁 your work was reminding me of someone named jmw327 on twitter
This feeds my desire for a beautiful art style like. Battle Network, FF tactics advanced,Disgaea
Just found your devlogs by accident. I love the feel your game is selling, I hope you're enjoying yourself during the development process as I know it can feel daunting for everyone, beginner or not. I hope you keep working on it and goodluck with the game. I already wishlisted it too!
Thank you so much for your kind words and for wishlisting the game! It means a lot to me.❤️😊
love this but you're talking too fast and the intro was way too long for me I almost clicked off
Any updates in the last year?
Frumos jocul! Felicitări! 🎉
Thank you, Ionut!
i recommend to add normal map to aseprite texture, so the ambient have more interact with the light
That's a pretty great idea! Thank you for the suggestion!
Tbh I’m just confused on how exactly tilsests work for iso. But my real question is how would u make a house be one asset but it takes up multiple tile spaces in like a tile set asset
Yeah, working with isometric perspective can be a bit tricky. 😅 The buildings don't have to be tiles. For me, they're just game objects in the scene. I can't share images on UA-cam, but you're more than welcome to join our Discord! I'd be happy to help you there.
@@LostGameDev ok thank you!🙏
This art style is stunning
Thank youu!
I am just also starting out to create my own game but I am just learning how to code and do arts haha
That's awesome! Starting your own game is a big step. Good luck with your game development journey!
The game looks really cool! As a developer myself, I am curious what app you used at 2:02 to have the organization with the different cards. It looks very handy and neat.
Thank you! The app is called Milanote.
1:13 what is that app?
That's Todoist.
@@LostGameDev ty. love your 2d art. i wish i could that kind of stuff. me and art are mortal enemies since birth. i'm giving voxel art a try as a last resort, lmao. cool project! congrats!
Is it just me, or does this guy talk super fast?
No, it's not just you.
Hi, can you please explain about pivot point at 9:00min ? I wonder how its work
sorry... bit of feedback: this is really hard to watch as you're talking way too fast.
grreat vid whats the app you use for todolist?
Thank you! I use Milanote.
Night can be dark, but there is a light in a sky called moon.
I was looking exactly for a tutorial for isometric pixel effects and thanks for such a good one! I was even a bit disappointed you don't have other tutorials. But anyway, your game is definitely on my wishlist rn :)
Hey! I'm really glad that the tutorial has been useful for you! I'll be making more in the future, though since my audience is mostly gamers, not developers, they won't be super frequent. But given the positive response to this one, I'm definitely considering creating another one down the road. Thanks a lot for your support and for wishlisting Hooked too! Much appreciated!
