Replacing the radiator fan resistor in these van is easy to do. This is a common problem these Town and Country have.
What year is this van?
Thank you for sharing this information I have overheating problems I will replace it let’s see how that works
Works? I got same problem. Replace thermostat replace relay and nothing
I think the position of the needle of your temp.gauge is normal, and if the needle goes to H or very close to H that’s the time your engine is overheating
How many miles before this happen
My daughter is going to buy one of those Town & Country vehicles and the man said that he replace the head gasket but the heater must stay on at full capacity because he needs to get a switch for it but he is selling it to her for $3500?
Great video and info
How do you know if it is fan relay, fan resistor or temperature sensor?
I like to know the answer to your question too
@carintheyard thank you for being a good mechanic that is helping us repair our own vehicles or atleast help the rest of us figure out what we can fix and what we actually need to have a shop do we are very quickly losing the right to repair our own vehicles and other important things that we use in our daily lives thanks my friend you just saved me 160$ plus labor because everyone is telling me that I have to replace the whole fan unit that I can't just replace the resistor
Informative video. Although I wear disposable gloves when I do mine. Also I usually don’t need a filter wrench to loosen my oil filter, unless it somehow gets really tight.
This information was spot on with my vehicle. After troubleshooting and watching other videos which were not helpful and they didn't talk about or mention this item. This was my problem, had a bad resistor located in the same place as yours. Thank you.
I’m having the same issue right now but my fan is not spinning at all, was yours doing the same? This video was helpful
@mfmcdoobierecords6405 my radiator fan was not coming on when I turned my ac on. It wasn't spinning. The fan motor was good when checked with a drill battery, so I knew it was my resistor. Hope this helps.
I replaced mine which was cracked as well, but its still slightly over heating. Thermostat was changed 2 years ago
ive had mine for 6 years and have had to put at least two thermostats so i definetly would not rule that out
Great video! Hopefully this fixed my PO480 Code issue. Thanks for posting the video!!
What part number do you ask for? Where can I find one? Oreillys said that I had to buy the whole fan!
I got mine from Amazon for 30 bucks look for engine cooling fan relay Amazon said it doesn't fit but if you look at the description it will show you what it fits
The Mopar part number - 68054677AA. The original OEM part is over $50 on Amazon but there are also other aftermarket alternatives that sell as low as $20.
So where should the needle be at normal temperature...mine is right under the half way mark.
Right under halfway is normal.
I have the same van my temp needle sits right on the halfway mark,is that safe?,nvr gets hotter....
Tengo una duda.! El ventilador de la dodge gran caravan 2012 es de 1 o de 2 velocidades.!

Thank you for your helpful video.
Watch the update!! ua-cam.com/video/lGupqd15MGE/v-deo.html
Did you guessed or how you came with this diagnostic?
So did it fix the problem???
ua-cam.com/video/lGupqd15MGE/v-deo.html
Found out it was the radiator fan relay connector. Had one from the junkyard, so far so good.
Dude overheating is when the needle goes to the H the needle half way is how almost every car runs
Not true, the temp needle should be below the half way mark; at the half way mark means it's running hot!!
Different thermostats open at different temps, it should below half, at half, and right past half, that's normal. Vox you don't know shit
Half way mark is perfectly normal... Glad you're not my mechanic..
@@tonyw617 that's what I said half way is Normal how every car runs usually
I meant that for someone else, sorry.
Could not hear you. Does this fan resistor operate the fan? My fan doesn't come on with the a.c.
The ac should kick your fan on If it doesn't check your fuses then if all are ok check the fan relay which is right under the radiator hose on driver side
@@bigben4159 My check eng. light came on. Code reader said it was emission related? Any way after looking around for maybe something amiss, i found 3 wires chewed on by a mouse.. 2 were chewed through. I respliced them and everything is working good. l have 4 vehs. Rodents have eaten wiring on 3 so far. I am pulling my hair out. Thanks for getting back to me any way!
I don't know much about vehicles but I'm guessing it's probably the relay or fuse

I replaced mine and it still run right in the middle. So did it fix your over heating?
Yes you did
Replaced mine, but still overheating
Does the fan kick on when it should?
Thank you Sir. Was the car running really hot in traffic and idling. Mine does therefore planning to replace
Did it work I'm having the same issue
I had air bubbles in the cooling system. Had to bleed the coolant and it is fine. Note the domestic vehicle always run hotter
Sweet ,found mine via your video 😎

Great fucking camera angle 2/10
