Close Pass at Summit Point
During an SCCA race at Summit Point I pulled over and eased up to allow a GT car to pass before the downhill off camber turn 4. Pass completed, with perhaps an inch to spare.

Myers Goes to Gravel

Cold Brakes take their toll at the heel of the boot at the Glen at the begining of a race. Unable to turn given lack of braking. Damage not as bad as you'd think;-) Glen towing crew a great bunch of guys.

First time on the full Tri Oval. A lot of fun- really makes you appreciate the touch and timing of the NASCAR drivers to hit these turns 60 mph faster.
SCCA NJMP Thunderbolt race T1 Corvette

SCCA Race at NJMP Thunderbolt. C5 Corvette in T1 class following very fast SPO driver who seems to be leaking fuel out the back at times. Later in session, SPO car overshoots turn 1 and I get by. Not captured (no rear camera) is his spin entering the devil's tail a half lap later, and, a lap after that he has a major issue with fuel loss all over the track at turn 1, and he is disabled for the ...

Watkins Glen in a C5 Corvette prepped for SCCA T1. Hoosier R tires with many runs. Room for more speed in sweeper after bus stop; also blew the apex in heel of the boot.
Corvette at Lightning NJMP SCCA Race June 2011 (T1 Record)

2002 Corvette (C5) in T1 class of SCCA race at Lightning, NJMP. This lap is a class record for Lightning by 0.4 seconds. The other Corvette in the video was passed at the end of the following lap. T1 class means: full roll cage, 3180 lbs with driver & gas at end of race, headers, tuning, Brembo front brakes, Hoosier tires, T1 shocks/struts.
@JonathanMyersDrives Thanks for the reply! Yeah, I can't wait to go racing. I just wish it wasn't a 2+ hour drive each way from Long Island. They closed all the racing tracks other than Riverhead Raceway, but that's just a small oval. Anyway, thanks again and good luck out there :)
Thanks for the comments. For the SCCA T1 class and a C5 Corvette, I'm allowed to weigh no less than 3180 (with driver and gas) at the END of the race. I have about 378 hp at the wheels. I think, but am not sure, that C6 Corvettes are allowed about 40 more horsepower and required to weight about 3500 lbs. The SCCA club racing site has the GCR posted as a PDF that lays all this out. Joe Aquilante @Phoenix Performance, is a great resource. You'll have a great time if you try it!
@JonathanMyersDrives Hey, I just wanted to say great video! This looks like a lot of fun. I'm planning on taking my C6 down to NJ & Pennsylvania to some of the road racing tracks in the next month or so. As of now, I've only raced my vette down the 1/4 mile strip. I've been to racing school (Skip Barber) three times now, and I used to race go karts back in the day. Anyway, I was wondering what the HP/TQ and weight of your corvette is in this video? Nice driving by the way.
Yes, they can,, Their is a former Craftsman truck that also runs Jersey, way out of control. Most NASCAR dars are ARCA cars though..
I have a limited understanding of the SCCA class rules and NASCAR type cars. The cars that were in my group that were similar in appearance to NASCAR cars were not actually internally full NASCAR. The GT1 and SPO cars that you saw ahead of me in this video are tube frame race cars with fiberglass "fake" bodies, but aren't actually fully consistent in engine and build with NASCAR regs, I believe. That being said, I don't know whether a NASCAR car could race in some SCCA classes.
