Quick little run out in Rolfton Ontario
The balance conector is bad
I fixed mine just keep clicking it has low voltage
Hold the button for at least 2 seconds it should charge fine.
I hope you got around to fixing it. I have a modified 88 Jetstream with a 1200kv motor on 6S batteries that I recently smashed into a dock post at 40km/h and crumpled the front end real bad, Fixed it easily, Although a temporary fix and was out the next day. I'm going to 3D scan the front and 3D print a nose cone bumper to make it permanent. This is a super simple fix.
having the same problem but my traxxas ez peak plus charger is blinking red on 4A and 1A
I have the exact problem with my EZ Peak charger. I finally gave up on it but, I’m being hopeful now from the comments on this video with the trickle charger..
A new Hurricane just posted on eBay
sweet
I just got my hands on the exact same Kyosho hurricane it’s a little bit White rthan yours, and I’m going to continue with the stock set up. I am obviously going to get rid of the mechanical speed controller, which is still in the blister pack and I believe I’m gonna run it on 6S that sounds like a lot but it’s not too Kyosho Leman’s motors wired in parallel can easily handle the 22 V. The only part that has an issue is about 1 inch of the left side sponson decal is stuck on a little askew and they got a paint the drivers I’m gonna give this one to my daughter and let my son drive the jetstream. I’m gonna leave them stuck. I have enough equipment to go brushless, but I’m just not gonna do it
ave you ever used glue before? Did you know you could even just put a piece of heavy duty duck tape on the inside and call it a day. Take it to your local hobby shop . There you can probably get a lesson on how to fix it.
I honestly know how to fix it. It's filling it with fiberglass and sanding it smoothly to repair it and then sealing it. The point of the video is that I got screwed by a reputable moving company that has insurance and refuse to replace or pay to fix. Thanks for the insight very appreciated .
Have you tried to do a carbon fiber inlay to fix the hull and make it stronger
I was thinking of just putting some plastic weld and sand it down. It just sucks that the movers did that and did not try to help.
@patsRCchannel the carbon fiber is not hard to have 2 Jetstream that I am going to do that to them
Thxxxxxx❤❤

I would love to see somebody modify this boat with two brushless motors and a new battery pack I had one of these back in 1990 and it was like three times faster than this maybe this guy just isn’t going full speed but I would love to see it with a metal prop brushless motors and good batteries it would probably be a beast
Definitely something I can look into doing and your right, I never ran it full speed. Just such a nice boat.
Just hook it up to a car battery
Not sure that would work. Pretty sure it would nuke the lipo.
That blower motor is a pretty badass touch ! It's very Australian trophy truck vibes
I'm still not 100% attached to it yet
Traxxas chargers and batteries suck. Have had nothing but issues with them.
Yeah same here, I ended up using adapters as I'm not a fan of cutting the battery terminals off new rigs. As for all my older rigs, they are all on deans.
That's a sweet rig, you don't see many of them after they stopped making the dingos. Would you recommend replacing the stock plastic c hubs with aluminum ones ?
It all depends on how strong your servo is. You have to remember that they are rated for a certain ounce of pounds. So if you replace everything with metal and still have the same servo you will run into issues.
I love the sport but I never have understood winches with RCs
The whole point of the winches is so that you don't have to physically pick up your rig. It's just scale fun.
Prop is to deep.
That was the least of my problems.
Please update 👍
What kind of update would you like?
I had same issue!!! Take a trickle charger and hook it up to ur battery,, positive to positive and negative to negative,, turn charger on on for 10-15 seconds and that should bring your charge up enough for the EZ charger to recognize the battery and continue with the charge,, that's how I have brought my 3s & 4s batteries back,, this happens when the battery is drained to LOW 👍
Thanks for the heads up.
@@patsRCchanneldid it work
Wait what do you mean like the charger or the battery
Dude, my jet stream 800 is the same color. Used to be white, The years go by it’s turning darker and darker tan and the problem is that I painted the bottom of the hole like a metallic hunter green and the top is now turning orange and not a good orange it’s almost like somebody’s skin! And it just gets darker and darker every year. The peroxide trick didn’t work straight bleach the heavy duty one from Home Depot the one that I can a gel concentrate that will eat some loose clothing that handles black mold and handles all types of staining didn’t phase it I don’t know what they made that plastic out of at that time all of the vintage KyoshoModels have the same weird color. My jetstream has the exact same hardware as your hurricane and actually your hurricane in the jetstream 800 are from the same time. I can’t believe that they’re from around 88 thru 92. What a blast from the past man. I hope you still have that model do you know what they’re asking for for that model in less than 300
Did you do the bath for 24hrs. I know it works on some plastics but your right. Kyosho knew how to make boats back then. They definitely don't match up to today's standards. But they are still fun to drive. Today they just sit on the shelf enjoying retirement life.
Sooooo Gorgeous 😍
And those Lemans 360ST's are worth more to collectors than you paid for the boat, so make sure you keep them 😉 I have one in my truck ☺️ It was the HOT ticket for a 1/12 off road truck in the late 80's. SUPER cool to see them running in such a cool boat. There is NOTHING like vintage for the cool factor.
Honeslty your right. The new stuff is cool and all, you can't beat having to recover when the battery dies lol.
Battery has a dead cell. Only had the 2 4s batteries just over a year on the dual charger ran fine one day, next day tried to charge and got a beep with the same light blinking. I have a cell checker/balancer and it read error on both batteries. So was told by LHS to bring and they would check them. On their checker/balancer showed I dead cell in 1 battery and 2 dead in the other. No puffing and batteries looked brand new and became paper weights. So they disposed of them now and I run the Xmaxx on 6s.
That still sucks that you had bad cells. I don't run this battery as its one that came with the charger. It has issues with all the tape from previous owner.
Nice job
Thanks
So when you did this conversion which channel did you hook up the esc and which channel did you hook up the servo on? I want to do the same conversion on my kyosho viper but I’m not sure how
Well if I recall, I put channel 1 for steering and channel 2 for throttle.
@@patsRCchannel thank you very much that helps a lot !👍🏼
Because your battery is obviously trash. How can you not know this? You have a dead cell, properly dispose of that battery. The fact that you have electrical tape wrapped around it tells me you are completely clueless regarding the dangers and proper usage of LiPo batteries.
100" and thanks for your great comment. It's very appreciated. Hope you enjoyed this video and thanks for the help.
Bro lost it
@@extremelyrandom8635 ikr
Bro you definitely had a bad day lmao did you sugar Mama not may your rent or sum 😂😂
You good bro?? Lol
Nice! In the original box and everything, that's fantastic. I have the exact same model that I'm in the middle of restoring. It has basically everything stock except a few things like new batteries.. old esc and Nihm batteries, but on a dual 360st it should run alright. It's been a couple weeks in the making, slowly but surely.. Note to self: double check to make sure I bring my multi-tool.
Sadly the moving company broke the hull of my mint condition boat, I'm not sadly stuck using her as a shelf queen.
This happened to me, too. It's the balence wires. If you look where the wires meet the battery, I bet you'll find the little balence wires have been cut by the clastic wrapping around the batter. It sucks and isn't easy to fix.
So best bet is to just dispose of the battery and get a better charger as I did. I found out that if their is any damage it's easier to just replace the battery. Thanks for the great comment and the help. Sorry for the late reply. Hope to be doing videos again. Miss the hobby.
Pretty similar to what I'm working with. And it makes for nice frame of reference for my Kyosho Jet Stream 800 with twin 360st--all still stock--for when I can finally take it out to the water. After posting a couple photos inquiring about it, I soon had a guy vehemently trying to talk me out of restoring it, mentioning things like, 'it'll only go 20mph, the hulls are so cheap that one bump can cause it to "explode"'--then again, it was a redditor so I take it purely at face value. From what I can see, this is kinda a good speed here and judging from other comments it seems to performance being at least decent. And the idea that the Hurricane having more potential is all the better. I get it though, it's definitely not the fastest thing ever by a longshot, but quick enough to enjoy. I'm glad I've found these types of seemingly very few videos out there. I've been working hard on the boat ever since, so I suppose I should say thanks!! 😁
Your welcome for the great comment. This is a great boat and the hull is definitely not fragile as some people might have stated. These boats where probably very fast back in the day. I just love these old boats and honestly it's not all about speed. It's about nostalgia. It's about being out there and just enjoying the water. It's calming.
@@patsRCchannel You know what, I love that you said that. People value different aspects of things and I think I'm pretty much in the same mindset. The Jet Stream belonged to my grandpa and I just always remember seeing it whenever I was little when we'd go visit. And the fact that he gave it to me now all these years later, it's just sentimental. And honestly, they look kinda quick as it is. Anyways, I almost have mine all ready to go 😁 just broke free of a series of "2 steps forward, 2 steps backward" with all the paining. Everything else is dying to be reinstalled and set up again. And thanks again, I really do appreciate what you said 🙂👍
Memories cannot be replaced. The enjoyment in having it stock and go at the speed that you remember you and your grandfather watching it go for hours are there to stay. Having it on the water again will be some of your best enjoyment.
I think it's missing the sensor plug and that is why it won't charge.
traxxas batteries dont use a sensor if im correct
Ended up scrapping that lipo and got new ones, also switch chargers. So much better. Thanks for the reply.
We’ll it’s in a spot where it won’t take on water. I would put a clear piece of trex tape and run it. Or you could epoxy it
Whats trex tape? I was thinking of possibly sanding it down to a smooth surface and then throw some fiberglass on the inside with some shoe goo. Epoxy is definitely another route. Just sucks to see that in a move stuff gets broken and people don't take responsibility. Thanks for watching.
You should go nuts and put a flex cable and brushless. Take some tinkering and a couple 100$. That would be a cool series
That is a great ideal. I'll look into it.
Retro stuff is cool but so slow.
But without any of this "retro" we would not be where we are today in the hobby.
Great to see retro stuff I have just bought one from eBay and got original stickers from the states it’s gonna be a great winter restoration of this great vintage boat 😊
Just fixed my boat. New flex cable and prop. Just got back in. Traxxas m41. My 3rd cable in one season. Fun hobby. Yes calm and get away from the kids lol
It can be expensive at times but as you stated it's a great hobby.
I’ve had this very same boat and I am telling you there’s something wrong with either your motors or your battery pack something is going on the boat should be going very close to 30Mph if not faster
Sorry for the late reply. Yes the motors could be exhausted or the esc. I'm looking into it.
Very rare!
Rare and so much fun.
Great!!
Thanks I need to get more time on the water.
