200+ Miles by Boat from Sarasota to the Keys
We traveled in our 24 foot Glasstream center console boat from Sarasota County to the Florida Keys. We stayed in Marathon and went to snokeling sites. We also went to Key West and stayed the day. Seeing a lot that Key West has to offer. We traveled a total of 450 miles over the five days in our Glasstream boat powered by one 250hp Evenrude ETec G2. We did get really good gas mileage with the boat setup that we have.

We got to go to the Freedom 500 at the Freedom Factory. Put on by Cleetus McFarland. It was a very exciting race filled with pro drivers and UA-cam stars like Whistlin' Diesel, Adam LZ, Talyor Ray, SXS Blog, Alex Bowman, Hailie Deegan, KSR, Chelsea Denofa, PFI, Muder Nova, Travis Pastrana, Blake Wilky, Ryan Tuerck, Diesel Dave, Heavy D, Vice Grip Garage and Cleetus himself.

Mavic Mini view over Shakett Creek. A beautiful waterway in Nokomis Florida. A boaters paradise. Big homes on the shores of this little town in Sarasota County. Shakett Creek leads out into the Venice ICW waterways and out into the Gulf of Mexico through the Venice Jetty.

Sunset over Beer Can Island in Longboat Key. Traveling from Nokomis into the Gulf and in Sarasota ICW through Big Pass. It was a nice cruise in our 2018 Glasstream 240CCX powered by Evinrude E-TEC 250 HO. It was about a 32 mile trip (64 mile round trip). Amazing water and a beautiful sunset.

Great video! Nice boat. I’m in Michigan. Have a 2005 Polar WA. Evinrude 225 E-Tec. It has always run flawlessly. Too bad BRP dropped Evinrude. I’ve thought about trailering it to Key Largo to a place I go.

Not certain if you have it, but the Lowrance outboard hydraulic pack coupled with the Simrad is AWESOME!!! I ran ours on AP about 75% of the time, absolutely spoils you especially on those multi-hour trips :)
I went from Ponce de Leon park to Sanibel and back in my 18.5 sea ray down the ICW that's the most crazy thing I ever did but thought about key west🤔

Great job, on the boat, they clean up well with a little elbow grease. Im about to start another project on my channel that Im hoping comes as clean as this one.
I used to own a 242CCX glasstream. There is no other boat in that size range that beats the shit out of you like the glasstream. It handled small waves so poorly it was almost extremely impressive. That said, it was a very efficient hull, and that in combo with the Evinrude G2 might make it the most efficient 24 footer out there. Evinrude G2 = best outboard ever made. What year is yours?

How many times did you need to re fuel?
We just stopped once to refuel. It was about 55-60 gallon one way.

Nice. What was your travel time from Pelican Pass sandbar at Cayo Costa back to Punta Gorda? I plan on doing that trip next summer.
It's more of a straight shot than going to Dog island from Punta Gorda. Unfortunately, we got hit with rain on the way back so I don't know how long that it would take. Defiantly, take a look at a chart or GPS before going that way you can plan the route better than I did lol. It super nice down there. We had a great time boating around there. It is a boater's paradise for sure. I think that you will love it. What kind of boat do you have?
@@knotkrazy2 I ran a plot though a chart (Port Charlotte to Pelican pass) and got 22 miles and about 45 min trip at 30 mph cruising speed. I own a waverunner and my brother-in-law has a 25ft Century CC. I don't know how the chop or waves typically are out in the harbor, but if they are calm I could fly there on the ski. Thx
How long that ride take from Punta Gorda to Dog Island? What was your Average speed?
Hey Orlando. We stayed at Fisherman's Village in Punta Gorda. So it was about 30 miles. It took us a little more time to get there because it was my first time in Charlotte Harbor. So it took us about an hour. The good thing is that there is no slow speed zones! lol
