One of the best day on the water in 40 plus years. LOTs of big fish to choose from . It's my second trip with my new Dead Wake Leviathan lever action bow. Shot 2 barrels of fish in 3 hours easily.

Well it started off with high expectations butttttt it turned out okay. First full day with the new DEAD WAKE LEVIATHAN and I really like it so far. Pre pawn is what I ended up seeing. Large fish staging up in shallow water. All the fish were very skittish which made it tough shooting.

Bowfishing on May 10th 2024 on Saginaw Bay. All the carp are just packed full of eggs and the temperatures are slightly below average. In this video I show better examples of how my bowfishing boat electrical systems and layout are set up.

A short trip out on Lake Huron on June 5th. The weather was sunny all day and the wind speeds were very low which made it the best night to shoot for the next week according to the weather forecast. Still finding suckers which is a good sign that common carp are prespawn on average.

Nice night out on the water shooting fatties. This was pre-spawn so the common carp were very fat. It was yet another short trip but well worth it. The first section of this video was with all LED's lights being about 830 watts and the last portion was in D/C only being just over 400 watts. When the water is clear I just use 400 watts of light.

BOWFISHING on June 9th 2022 Strang day out of many in 2022 here in Michigan. Only one very small area produce a LOT of fish. If I didn't try this tiny section of water there would have been perhaps less than 20 fish over all. A slight change of pace this video is not as many breaks in the footage I just speed it up between shots & shot opportunities.

What tip are you using? Thanks.
It is the 3 Prong version of the Harsh Lock arrow. They are insane expensive. The factory nock Sucks but that can be over come by a 2114 Easton Super Uni Bushing . That is how I get lighted nock to fit these arrows. The way the manufactures suggest is putting a lighted bobber light in there monster nock doesn't work well at all for long. Plus the factory nocks can be so tight that you have to uses plyers to take them out thus wrecking the nock. With a cost of greater than $60 per arrow you want to get them back if they get cut from your line and the lighted nock would help in most circumstances.
In the small tournament this year, I was taking a few shots at a gold carp near bay city that kept slipping away as I was chasing him around. Eventually gave up on it but would have kept after it if I had known how rare it was. I'm fairly newer into bowfishing and the guys told me at weigh in how rare it was.
There are LOTs of Goldfish being 2ish pounds or less to the very large being maybe 3 pounds. If you seen a Gold Carp being 8 or more pounds that is incredible. I have spent hundreds of hours out on that bay over 40 years time and new ever caught a glimpse of a Gold Carp . I have heard and see people shoot Coy Fish which are cool but are not Gold Carp. I have shot 2 fancy fin aka butterfly goldfish which are really cool. A fish like you mentioned might stay in that area so if I was you I would try again and again. Good Luck I hope you get it.
Bought my girlfriend one of these bows a while back. Have you ever seen a bow stay at full draw even when released from the fingers? Absolutely freaky, I messed with it and couldn’t figure the problem out. She now owns an osprey. Found this video due to wanting to send it back to muzzy
Yes in that design it can happen . Not easy to deal with when it happens either . Please be careful
Me and my wife are looking to come up there in a couple weeks to bowfish. Is there a ramp or area that you would recommend? Just found your channel and love the videos.
water level is very low and has changed everything in the location of the fish. If you want a best case odds Sebewaing launch and try shooting around the mouth of the river.
@@thssportingcenter1 thanks, staying in caseville this week and will try that out
We were out the same day a little south of you. 2 barrels from the channels in Couple hours. We shot a couple females that were up close to 30 I would guess
Have you been shooting that area for a long time? The reason I ask is it seems that the lower water levers are changing the location / areas that I am seeing fish. In other words that they are not just further out in the water from high water levels they are in different locations all together. I have only shot Quananicasse a few times to the west of the river. Never shot south of Fish point.
Hey man I just wanted to let you know that I love watching your videos. Keep up the good work
Thank you. I try to do these when I have time and like sharing the experience of being on the water. I will be adding more tech if / when the time allows. There is a another trip from May 10th that I am working on now but the water isn't a good as this. I wish you well and enjoy everyday the best that you can.
good job always like that clear water here in tn not so much
Fricken LOVE shooting crystal clear water.
First shot connection! Fun stuff Tim!
One shot at your first shot only comes once a year.
Killer video Tim!
Thank you. If you are on the east side of the State especially around Saginaw Bay maybe I can sneak both you out on the water. Just need fishing licenses
@@thssportingcenter1 thank you sir! i used to do stuff like this quite a bit when i was young. I really appreciate your kindness. Keep up the awesome videos.
Have these bows gotten any better?
Not really. Simply its not a good design , Brace height is WAY too high, Low efficiency of stored energy. I would much rather use a simple compound bow like the PSE Discovery series , Bear / Cajun Sucker Punch is a good buy for the money, Truly great bows are G-Rex and Dead Wake lever action bows but they are fricken expensive ( but worth every dime in my experience)
What temp of water are you finding the fish in the most?
That varies by the body of water. I try to took for warming trends early in the year. Fish will follow warm water when it is cold. As it warms up close to 66 degrees I see more activity on average. Large sand bodies of water warm up much slower than still shallow dark marsh waters.
Yes, I did noticed that in spring that looking for the warmer water helped a lot, but I was not sure about what water the temps to be looking for in the summer time. we fish down by Harsens Island and have a harder time in the summer finding fish then the spring time. @@thssportingcenter1
@@jonathankrueger9339 St.Clair area can produce some really big fish and can be very spotty action. Finding warm water run off water which isn't too muddy can be a good place to find fish. It's rare to see HUGE NUMBERS of common carp like Saginaw Bay.
You should make the trip to Saginaw Bay in April and May . I usually have a 2 barrel self imposed limit out there and sometimes have them full in less than 2 hours.
What compound bow is that?
The bow I am carrying is a Oneida Black Eagle for a back up shot if needed. The Crossbow I used on the shot was the original Ten Point Vapor .
Did your outboards seem twisted and canted? This is my second bow they've sent me and nothing seems lined up. Is there anything that can be done about this? Thanks
Yes fighting limb lean is a real problem with camless lever action bows. I would try to add a little more leverage to the left side of the Y to split the difference at full draw.
Did your outboards seem twisted and canted? This is my second bow they've sent me and nothing seems lined up. Is there anything that can be done about this? Thanks
Yes that is why I ended up building a new sets of strings & cable that were longer & increasing the leverage to the left side of the bow to balance it out better. There should be my string specs posted here . 43-1/4" string and 28-1/2" cables Vapor Trail the specs as a special order has them avavibvle as the Fraken Muzzy or something liker that.
What are you using to be able to get the fish off the tip so quick?
On this trip I was using Harsh Lock 2 prong tips.
If you don't mind me asking where abouts were you getting into them this late?
Lake Huron. You need to follow cold water
Looking forward to more bowfishing vids
Should have 2 or 3 ready to go next week
I don’t think I’ve seen anyone as consistent of a shot as you 👍👍
Editing is probably a close second to practicing .
I had ordered some of street film a couple years ago and it has worked great! My onlu problem is i cannot find it anynore! Do you happen to have an updated link?
Do you have a instagram? Or TikTok
I don't have either . My life is way too busy to add any more distractions to this time that I have left.
Please do a vidoe on the vxm muzzy
I appreciate your request but it unlikely I will be testing one of those personally. Paying for a bow like that out of pocket is not going to happen for myself. There are many good choices out there and this over all design has and will continue to have design issues. At the end of the day its geometry and this system falls short .
Do you have an updated link for film?
That spike is just a adolescent young deer , it's not that he has bad genetics it's just that he isn't even 2 yrs old ... the spike , cow horn myth is garbage !
Well right here in St Clair county and Sanilac County Michigan it does make a difference. Remove ugly deer quick and don't shoot any good looking 1.5 year old 6 points or any 2.5 year old 8 points and I have seen a significant improvement on quality antlers based on 35 years of observation on hunting my own lands. Perhaps it doesn't apply to the rest of the planet.
Yes this deer is absolutely a 1.5 year old buck
I ordered a new set of cables from vapor trail. A thought. It might be possible to make four “cable ringlets” to make up the added distance and use the original cables.
with a double Y yolks I am not sure how it would work. It's a good idea but how to make it happen
Does your shop have the capacity to make these cables? If so, do you take orders over the phone and ship to the east coast? Since you came up with the fix to the bow’s wrist slapping tendency, I would like you to profit by it (I am good with getting the fuel line, which is a genius move on your part). It would make sense that both cables need to be replaced, right?
I don't build them for customers but I believe that you can call VAPOR TRAIL ( string manufacturers) and ask for the Franken LV-X. Hopefully this will help you get what I use for my customers. If by some wild chance they don't recognize that ask them to look at my store name THS SPORTING CENTER and then for the Franken Muzzy LV-X.
Should I double band these Broadheads?
AWESOME VIDEO! anyway i could get a shout out in one of the next ones!?🤞🏽
Good job
I do have a short video of a 2023 shoot that just needs to be finalized
Been watching your videos of LED film, as I currently am in the middle of this, was running golden yellow, but wanting to bring it closer to HPS color, wondering what film you have settled on?
This is one of the best that have worked for me www.ebay.com/itm/382049089363?var=650951207442&hash=item58f3e67753:g:SbUAAOSwJ4hY98c5 In dark water it is very good
I would like to know if this has been fixed and worth buying as of May 2022? I have a limited budget and would be appreciative for some info. Great video btw!
Well the last one I worked on last month was a Gold Color riser version that was a new purchase. The cable slide is still not good and the limb bolt threads were not clean (being metal shavings inside the threaded riser. Brace height is still WAY too high out of the box. So not a whole lot has changed.
@@thssportingcenter1 so would you recommend this bow with upgraded slider and new bolts and string at a $300 price brand new? I can get one at that price and maybe upgrade as I go along?
When setting the nock set on your bowfishing bows do you just use the traditional bow square, etc. to line everything up or is there a better method?
I use a standard Business Card for establishing 90 degrees then move up a little being about 1/16 of a inch. There are several things that effect nick height, timing, bows geometry, fingers and more. Personally I would suggest that you try a well tied D-Lopp . Holds way better than brass nocks ever could
Really enjoy your videos. Do you tie to the back of your arrow or slides?
I tie to the back. All that being said a slide would probably be a safer choice in preventing physical harm to yourself. A slide also helps limit pass throughs on thin hard fish like Garpike . Not having a slide is more accurate and has less splash in the water.
Wow thanks for this video! I was almost going to buy one BUT my experiences with FeraDyne's other products made me dig in and really research. It seems anything that FeraDyne buys out, goes to garbage. Muzzy used to be decent quality but when they sold out, I knew it would probably change. Thanks again for the video! My search for a lever style bow fishing bow continues.
Most cooperation's are solely about profits only. Some are worse than others. G-Rex bow are very expensive BUTTTTT they are worth every dime. Seriously I own 2 G-rex bows and sell G-Rex bows . I own over 13 bowfishing bows . Runner up is the Oneida Osprey and in the compound world the old PSE Discovery 2 or the Cajun Sucker Punch are very good choices.
I use same broadhead out of my Excalibur 400 bulldog. If in vitals almost all deer drop within 40 yards and most go down within eyesight. The blood trail is easy to follow as well.
It is a quick finish
I shoot a Barnet star pro and I’m wondering if I should double band the Broadhead
I really appreciate that you had committed to publishing the vid --despite the recall. It really helps guys like me who don't buy new release models. Rest well knowing that you truly did capture something for posterity. P.S. serious applause that you followed up in your subsequent LV-X vids!!!
We are all wiser we share our knowledge
What about the orange ones they came out with is it the same problems or did they fix it
My understanding was that were inline changes being done. All that being said I do not believe that they have made any significant improvements.
That’s just not true. Antler size has to do with nutrition. The old once a spike always a spike is false. Shoot the doe let the antlered bucks grow.
I base my observations on the specific areas that I have hunted on over the last 36 years here in Sanilac & St. Clair counties. Perhaps it is not a statistical norm but it is what I have observed none the less. Remove all 2-1/2 year & up old ugly deer and full body spikes early as possible and then I have seen a notable increase in the deer quality in subsequent years. It is rare but I have seen yearlings with more than 3" spikes and would NOT ever consider taking one of those.
@@thssportingcenter1 I don't think the body on that buck is big enough to be a 2 1/2 year old. I'd say, he's 1 1/2 years old.
Spikes grow up and out just no in spectacular form
this deer was absolutely a 1.5 year old deer.
Crossbows make mechanical broadheads shine!
Lots of power should be put to use in a quick clean finish
What kelvin/ light meter app did you use
QuArt Studio
My cousin warned me about this bow being trash and I'm glade I listened to him. I'm going to buy me an osprey next year lol
There are so many advantages to using a camed lever bow. You might want to dig a little deeper for a G-Rex
This video helped me decide what bow not to get
That bets thing about the digital world is that we all can make better decisions on what is the best fit for us.
Im going to be using the 3inch swhackers 150 grain in my EXCALIBUR MAG340 this year how do you like them lol
Love the Oneida black eagle in the maple mist camo! 😉
I am a Lever Lover
Nice job Justin, and welcome to the awesome world of bow fishing brother
👍💥💯
Perfect shot. Congratulations!
Thank you . My personal favorite target it 1" to 2" above the heart. They seem to drop a tiny bit sooner than heart hits. Have to admit heart shots are more exciting.
So did you shoot it with a crossbow, or a compound ?
It was a Ten Point Vapor crossbow Power Stroke: 15.5″ Draw Weight: 165lbs Velocity: 360FPS Weight: 6.8lbs Length: 37.4″
Love your vids, keep em coming! Hope to see you out there sometime.
There is only one today. If the weather is good and you have any chance of making a trip happen try hard to make it happen. The only down side for me is less sleep.
Love love love the videos just wondering if you could get me a closer view. Could you shorten the go pro pole or put a go pro in the front of the boat. Thanks Keep up the great bowfishing vids.
Glad you asked. I have just purchased a extension to move the camera forward about 12 inches. It should get rid of half of the pole in the camera shot and more straight down/ over top view is my plan. Might be seeing it on the next video
By the way I screw up when I said " 112 Volts" I meant 112# thrust and 36 volt" sorry . Seriously I only do one takes and as you can see not much checking before finalizing DOUH!
