Hi there, just bought it for my lumix s5. In the lut package it's named "base luts - panasonic v- log cube, correct? In your video here it's named gamut v log. Are these the sames or did I buy the wrong one? Thx
names get updated over time. If you just downloaded them within the past 6 months, you should have the latest versions.

it can. You just might have a little less data in the shadows ins H265. Might be a little noiser or artifacting.
I have a question if you don't mind me asking please, if you just want to do a quick edit, quickly drag and drop these on the final node and do your basic run and gun adjustments on the nodes before the last node, which color management settings do you want to have in order for these LUTS to work as intended? Also for the final file to end up looking the same as when you are editing, when you export the file. Thank you!

Yes it can. Just need to use a conversion LUT like our BaseLUTs for S-Log3 before applying Kinetic LUTs to the footage.
Just installed the lut on the app. In the color space tag should i use rec709 or apple log?

depends on if you bake in the LUT or choose not to and just add the LUT in post. Under the LUTs section, you can toggle Record LUT to Clip if you want to bake in the LUT.

I believe Apple LOG only is available on iPhone 15 and newer models
Do we need to over expose our image ?
If you are using our Gamut BaseLUTs to convert from LOG footage, it depends on the Camera. For most cameras, you do not need to over-expose. If you film in N-Log or Canon Log3, we recommend over-exposing by half a stop or so because of the additional noise in the shadows.

Each camera is different. Which camera are you on? Certain cameras you could over-expose, while most cameras just expose normally.

Camera raw will only be available when you shoot in N-raw, my friend
ZF Doesn't shoot N-Raw
you will need to record to an Atomos recorder to get N-Log Raw.

The LUTs were craeted by RED, so call it what you want but these represent RED contribution to Nikon.
RED made them for Nikon. The wording works both ways honestly.

Great job. Thank you!!! Have you ever work with codec DNG (earlier Blackmagic Cinema Camera) I'm having trouble finding the right CST to apply to the Node Tree.
I have only worked with DNG files when converting ProRes RAW and the raw tab only allows a few options. I haven't quite dialed in which CST setting is optimal though as it seems to be a variance of the older Blackmagic settings. Sorry about that. It is a weird quirk Ive noticed too.

You'll need to use a conversion LUT (Our Panasonic BaseLUT, Color Space Transform, or another preferred conversion) to convert to Rec709 first, but these will look great on all footage types and this video also showcases the Kinetic LUTs being used on top of our BaseLUTs!
I am really wondering where this recommendation to not overexpose S-Log 3 comes from. I watched this video mainly because of the title but didn't really get a conclusive answer on why you (amongst some other) recommend that. We are shooting on FX6 & FX3 professionally and we exclusively use Base ISOs (800 and 12800 for those cameras) and CineEI to 2 stops under (so either EI200 or EI3200), which means that the actual footage is recorded 2 stops brighter than shown on our monitors. On top of that (!), whenever the scene allows, we aim to raise our exposure even further until zebras (set to 92+) occur and then dial the exposure back a little bit (usually by ND filter). We never had any problems whatsoever as long as none of the RGB channels clip, but way cleaner overall image (and especially shadows of course) than the competition. Why would I leave out this unused headroom of exposure latitude? Raising exposure in camera (by providing more light either through reducing ND, opening up the aperture, slower shutter, or simply light the scene more) as far as possible without clipping lifts the image signal further above the noise floor, and in post, we dial in the correct exposure (= lowering exposure). This expo reduction in post pushes the noise even further down into the blacks, giving a way cleaner image. Of course, the higher dynamic range the scene is, the less it is possible, but if you always take orientation from the clipping point and expose short before clipping (ETTR), you get the best image quality.
It's recommended by the actual camera manufacturer for maximum dynamic range. The original reason people were over-exposing was because of S-Log2 which is much much noisier in the older sensors and shadows. In order to clean up the image, you would over-expose and then bring down exposure in post thus reducing the high amount of noise. Since the newer cameras and sensors with S-Log3 have been out, the noise is much more minimal and no long necessary to get great results. It's true that with any camera, in order to have the least amount of noise, you would over-expose and then bring down in post. However, you then sacrifice dynamic range and also your exposure focus will always be on the highlights and not skin-tones or middle gray which is more important. If you want to blow out a window in a shot, you can ETTR because your reference would no longer be accurate. However, Middle Gray exposure is always a consistent reference no matter what shooting environment. If you value dynamic range, film at the base ISO and expose middle gray according to the manufacture recommendations. If you value least amount of noise, ETTR. I wouldn't say ETTR creates the best image quality, but that it creates the least amount of noise in the shadows. Hope that helps explain our position on this topic a little better. Not sure where we originally got it. However, if you search Arri Isabella Chart some helpful options should pop up. We might have received this in a colorist's course we took awhile back so we are hesitant to share it outside of our team.

have you got any good LUTS for iPhone 13 video footage?
If you can film in Apple Log on an iPhone, then just use our Gamut Apple Log BaseLUT and then all these LUTs work perfectly. If you can't film in Apple Log, like me (on the iPhone 12 still haha) then we currently don't have any conversion that balances out the saturation and contrast from the native camera. If you use any creative LUTs like Cineclipse+, you would need to turn down some Saturation and Contrast before adding the LUTs or it might produce overpowering results.

It applies to any Sony camera that can film in S-Log3 in 10bit. Not sure those cameras can film in 10bit, so it wouldn't apply in that scenario. Hope that makes sense.
