The Czech language is difficult but beautiful! "Rusalka" is a touchstone for the female singers. The Slavs have it a little easier, but "ř" gives everyone a hard time, except native Czechs!

Taso happens to be a fellow compatriot of mine. Is he the same Taso as the tenor from that highly memorable CBC-TV production of Puccini's LA RONDINE with Teresa Stratas?????? Luckily, I went online a purchased a DVD copy of his program as its been years since I saw it last and it was just as wonderful in 2023 as it was back in 1971.

I began studying voice with Taso when I was 22. He was the first voice teacher I had ever had that understood how to train the voice in the operatic tradition (all those Buckingham exercises certainly helped!). I used to somewhat jokingly refer to him as my spiritual advisor. I agree 100% with everything you talked about in the interview. And I look forward to seeing you again in the near future.
He was my teacher for 6 years. I love him so much.
Jeanine de Bique! How could I forget her. I reviewed her Washington début recital back in 2009. She is certainly a star now!
What a pleasure this was! Just one correction: My last opera that I saw before the pandemic was Samson and Delilah by Camille Saint-Saens, not Carmen.
My first teacher with whom I found the true opening of the throat. How lucky I was to have had this formation as my first vocal experience! Grande Maestro Taso 🙏
My teacher also, Anastasio (Tasó ) Vrenios, truly an amazing teacher and wonderful human being, I feel so grateful to have studied with him! I have him to thank for who I am, what I do and how I sing today. Thank you for creating this interview!
